What do you think of Ascot ties oppose to regular ties?
I just dicovered this look and i think its really cute especially with a Wing tip shirt (all Ivory tux).

Ascot should go with a wing collar shirt!

However, not all wing collar shirts are made the same. You should look for one with a stiff, detachable wing collar, NOT the attached wing collar. I can show you some if you like.

Besides that, an ascot is really more appropriate with morning dress for a daytime wedding. Is that what you are having? I can help you with some ideas for that if you like!

Re: BlackTieGuy...........

I wanted the guys to wear ascots at my wedding and had the hardest time finding a tux place where you could rent them. The only place i actually found them was at Tuxcedo park in carle place and you had to buy them at like $70 a piece. I guess you would make it a wedding gift but when will these guys ever wear them again.

Bingo. That looks excellent, with the one criticism that the shirt probably isn't a true detachable wing collar shirt, however, I recognize that most rental places won't have that, but you could get it for the groom.

Keep in mind though that this is for a wedding prior to 6pm.

Re: BlackTieGuy...........

3pm is perfect.

This is more the style shirt you are looking for:

For the rest of the ensemble, try Brooks Brothers, Ede & Ravenscroft or Pakeman Catto and Carter. If you are looking for some cheaper alternatives, I can try to dig some up for you.

No problem.

Detachable collars look quite a bit better, but I do understand the difficulty (and expense) in getting them, so no worries if you can't. I'm not quite as much of a stickler for them as others are.

Do guys in the US wear jackets like that? All of my guy friends here (UK) get married in them, but I hadn't seen them much in other settings.

Most guys here would wear a suit or a tuxedo. Some, unfortunately, even wear tuxedos during the daytime :(

Really. I guess that place was trying to rip me off. Thats crazy. That was the only reason i didnt go with the ascot was because of the price.

WELL BTG, what would your recommendation be for a groom who has an afternoon ceremony and an evening reception and refuses to get more than one outfit for the day?

You're still a creeper though.

Technically, if the event starts prior to 6pm (or sundown in the winter), you are not supposed to wear evening wear (black tie, white tie).

I am not as much of a stickler for that rule, and if you have like a 3pm church and then pics and then reception is in the evening, I think a tuxedo is probably OK.

It is an english style suit meant to be worn in the afternoon. The top is a one button cutaway and the pants are gray pinstripes. This is what ascots are usually worn with. They are perfect for my vintage victorian theme!!!!!

Re: BlackTieGuy...........

Black Tie Guy I am really having some confusion as to if the GMs should wear ascots also if FH is wearing one. The guy at mens warehouse said that he feels like it would be too much, what's ur opinion on this?
