Bridal shower - Recipe Card

Did anyone ever hear about asking guest to write down a recipe and bring a spice that is in that recipe?

How did you word that in the invitation?

Any ideas would be helpful.

i just did this for my sister's shower. we didn't write it on the invite - there wasn't any room. so we just stuck the recipe card in the envelope and added this note to it:

Help Feed Paul!!!!
Please write your favorite recipe on the card.
Bring the card to the shower.

so far everyone loved it! good luck!

For my best friends shower we put them in with envelope with the invitations. I found a poem on-line and attached it to the receipe card.

At the shower I had a receipe card box and as people came in I had the box on the same table as the seating assignments.

It worked out well.

I just did this for my FSIL. I wrote on the bottom of the invite Recipe requested for bride-to-be..

Here is the poem that we got in my cousin's shower card. The invitations had the recipe card attached.

Attached for you is this recipe card
to fill it in shouldn't be hard
(bride) migght like to try your favorite cake
or whaterver it is you like to make.
so don't forget this card on this special date
fill it in now, don't hesitate
at the shower will be a recipe box to fill
so bring this card or mail it back if you will

Thanks for your ideas. Did any of you have them bring a spice that was in the recipe. I heard of this recently somewhere but don't remember where and can't find it now.

My friend had this at her shower. I believe that a little paper was in the card ( or it was written in the invite) asking everyone to share a recipie. I LOVED this idea. Have fun

Also, I never heard of everyone bringing a spice, but what if you wound up with 12 bottles of oregano and 15 of parsley.. That would stink.

angelbear---they used the same poem for my shower...I got lots of great recipes...easier to follow than a cookbook!

at the shower, everyone's recipe got put into a box and once in a while while I was opening gifts, they told me to choose a recipe card...or advice/memory card...other things guests wrote...whoever's card I pulled out, the card got read and then that person got a prize.

we did the same for my friend's shower- she loves her recipe box and still uses it all the time 3 years later!!
