Engagement Party Gift--How much to give?
Hi all:My best friend's engagement party is next weekend and i'm wondering how much I should give her as a gift. What would you all give a best friend as their engagement party gift??
Thanks!

For a best friend I'd give around $200 for 2 people.. Most of my closest gave around $100-$200 depending on if they brought a guest or not

Re: Engagement Party Gift--How much to give?
Wow ... I wouldnt think to give that much for an engagement party. Then how much would you give for the wedding?I am VERY generous but I find that at weddings most people give $100 per person. I of course give more but that is average. I would say depending on where it is but if its one of your best buds I think $75-$100 is fine!

Yeah at weddings FH and I don't give less than $300 for the both of us......closer friends we obviously would give more. I like to feel that we atleast cover the plate and then a little bit more........

Re: Engagement Party Gift--How much to give?
none of my friends who have gotten married had engagement parties, but if they did I would probably give somewhere between $100-$300 depending on how close I am to them.EDIT: actually if I knew they had a registry for the e-party I would probably buy them something off their registry as opposed to giving money. I would give money at the actual wedding.

Re: Engagement Party Gift--How much to give?
All of my friends had low budget e-parties - like, bbq with bring your own beer, low key dinner at home, etc. so we spent about $50 on the gift.if it is in a nice place, then i would say $50pp.

And for my e-party I only had family but some people didn't even bring gifts! I was floored. We're going to have something low key for friends so that i can get back the $50 gift that I gave lol.

etiquette states that gifts shouldn't be expected at the engagement party. i couldn't imagine showing up to one without one!! i think someone needs to rewrite the etiquette books lol

Re: Engagement Party Gift--How much to give?
Depends on the type of party. I would say $100 per person but since it's your best friend, I'd give at least $125 per person.
