Halter-top bridal gowns
does anybody here have 'real' pics of women in halter-top gowns? My mom and I went dress shopping last week (just to see which style worked best for me--strapless, off shoulder, halter, spaghetti), and the halter seems to look the best on me---v-neck with a bit of cleavage.....but it seems so untraditional to me. Any ideas? or other great dresses you've seen with halters?

Re: Halter-top bridal gowns
I just wanted to say that you should take your body type into consideration regarding a halter top. I obviously don't know your body type but I will say that I have been to two weddings where the brides wore halter tops. One bride had a big chest and it looked great on her. The other bride was very small and petite with a small chest and I didn't think the halter style was good for her - too overwhelming and too much -she should have gone with something simpler. Just my two cents...

Re: Halter-top bridal gowns
i'll have to take pictures next time I try it on and get some opinions. The dress lady desribed me as a 'perfect size 6'---but I have plenty of chest to fill out the halter (36C).....I really think it looked great and I felt very comfortable in it and I loved it, however, I've seen other models in the pictures, and it just doesn't seem traditional to me.......but once I put the 'whole' thing together with necklace, veil, and shoes, I felt perfect. Once I have some pics, I'll post them and see what you ladies think (it seems as though I'll get an honest opinion from ya'll).

I love the halter style too! I'm going to start looking in November for a dress! Any advice would be great and if I find anything, I'll definitely share! I saw one on Watters and Watters web site but the body style didn't look right for me. Check it out...

I have to disagree - I'm tiny (frame) and I wore a halter top ballgown. I think I looked great IMO
I can't see how it would look good on someone with a big chest. My chest isn't huge and it was popping out! But I don't like showing cleavage in church
and some halters hold you in better than others. Mine had thin straps. My dress was by Demetrios:
Edited to add the 'chest popping out' picture! I had to remember that day to cover my cleavage anytime I bent over

Re: Halter-top bridal gowns
wow---you both look gorgeous in your dresses!!! where is yours from September Bride? I like the detail of AnnieGrl's but also love the simplicity of Septembers. At least now I've seen them on 'real' brides and know that a halter can be beautiful. Which style is the one from Demetrios? I'd love to see it in person. The straps may be a bit think for my shoulders, but worth looking into. Thanks SO much ladies for the pics.....this board is the BEST thing EVER invented for wedding planning!!!!

Mine is demetrios. I'm an 8 with no chest and it was clearly the best style on me when I was trying on.
I'll try to post the pic of me in it later.
Mine is also a demetrios, It's a size 8 dress, but I am a size 6, 34C and it was the best fit for me. Not to much cleavage, don't have to worry about it slipping down. When I have a real pic I will post.
