Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

I soaked my fingers in nail polish remover one time when I had fake nails and it worked. They had to soak for about 10 minutes!!

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

Just found this online!!

The best option to remove your nails if you had them put on at a salon or even at home is to visit a salon for proper removal. However, this may not be an option. The best way to remove your nails at home is to soak your fingers in acetone or acetone-containing nail polish remover for 15 minutes and then proceed to remove your nails gently from the cuticle up. You can use a clean fingernail file to do this. Be careful that you soak your nails long enough to loosen them and be careful when removing them. After removing them, consider soaking your nails in rubbing alcohol for 5-10 minutes to clean the nail bed area and don?t forget to apply lotion to your nails to keep the skin around your cuticle healthy.

It is very important to keep our nails healthy. Nail infections are very common and often overlooked. Artificial nails can be a source of bacterial and/or fungal infection. To avoid this, wash your hands regularly. It is best to trim your nails weekly, but be careful to not trim them too short which may traumatize the skin around the nails. If you do have artificial nails, be even more careful to wash your hands. If your fake nail starts separating from your natural nail, soak your nails in alcohol before reapplying your artificial nail. This will help ward off germs which can cause infection. If you do have your artificial nails put on at a salon, it might be worth the time to inquire about the sanitation standards of the salon. How do they clean their equipment and how often? Have they had problems with customers getting nail infections? If you get pedicures, how often do they change the filters in their foot massagers?

Toenails should also be kept trimmed and clean. If you use a locker room/gym facility, it is best to wear shoes at all times to avoid contact with the floor. Keep feet clean and dry and wear cotton socks. Nail infections can manifest as yellow nails or black discoloration of the nail area. If this occurs, schedule an appointment with your doctor because you may need to be put on medicine to avoid spread of the infection.

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

Whats funny is I hsave always had long beautiful nails. I put these damn ones on just because I was afraid my real ones might break right before the wedding, knowing my luck. These nails are SOOOO hard! I did break one though and it hurt SOOOO bad! Never again.

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

I bit my nails til I was 23 years old Then I started dating DH. My mom came up to me one day and said, don't you want your fingers to look nice when you get an engagement ring, she knew it was coming down the line, and from that day on I never bit them again!!

Why not go to a salon and let them take them off for you, then they can clean them properly and polish them for you! It'll save you some headaches and work!!

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

I definitely recommend going to a salon to get them removed, one w/a high tech system. One I used to go to had a soaker that heated the remover and my hands and nails were glue free.
I would also recommend that u soak and soak until every bit is off. They, nail techs, have a tendency to rip them off ur nails taking ur nails with it or some layers which then ruins them even more!!!

Good luck!

A pre fake nail girl, now natural!

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

Thats what I heard to, thats why I was going to try to do as much as possible before my appointment tomorrow. I heard if not careful they can tear your nails and sometimes even hurt you. I'm going to soak all night and then go in for my appointment tomorrow at 10.

Then Ill get a regular manicure and be done with it all.

Do any of you know som type of nail hardener I can put on my nails, maybe even over nailpolish?

My nails break but mainly nail polish chips off me immediately.

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

I soaked my nails for over an HOUR last night and its like concrete on my nails I also then tried to file it off with a strong file. After 5 files I gave up. Then I tried a cuticle trimmer and tried to like cut it off. No good. I can not believe how strong these things are! If I didnt have to get them filled in so often I would keep them, but short.

This seems a little crazy though

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

do what they do @ a nail salon:
take 10 cottonballs or cotton squares
soak it in acetone, and wrap 1 piece on nail with aluminum foil and let it soak for like 20-30 min
file it off

I would definitely go to a nail salon though

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

Go to walgreens-as an nail biter STILL-they have an acrylic nail remover-not sure who makes it-but I use it on mine-it takes a little while but it works. Sally hansen makes a nail strenghthener(sp?) and hardener.

I think Kiss makes the remover

Re: How do I get these fake nails off??????????

OMG! IT HURT SO BAD! It was like going to the dentist! She did not soak it at all (and I didnt tell her I soaked them at home) She clipped them all off!! My nails were Paper thin underneath and were wripping! OMG< It was so painful, I would never ever in my life, ever again get fake nails! I had her wrap a thin layer of silk on my nails until they get back to normal. They are very hard and still thin. With this I can let them just grow out.

NEVER EVER AGAIN! I should have just done silk for my wedding.

I used to have acrylic nails and they were awful to take off. my nails were so weak for months. What is silk? Does that keep your nails from breaking?

Re: How do I get these fake nails off? UPDATED - HURT SO BAD!

nailtique nail products work really well for your nails. They have certain ones that are meant to be used after having the fake nails. It's a protein and they make your nails stronger.

thanks!

Silk is like a VERY thin layer of fabric they put on your nails before painting. So far I LOVE IT!
