We ended up giving our maitre d' $400. How you figure it out is to tip them between $2 to $3 dollars. You figure how many guests, bride and groom. Muplity that number by 2 or 3 and you will get the number that you will need to tip. We gave extra because our maitre d' was excellent!!

Most RH's 'suggest' between $3-$5 pp.

I think we did $300~after all the money we gave out for the RH I refused to go crazy

I had put $400 in a tip envelope for the maitre d beforehand, but DH insisted on giving him another $200 b/c he was so attentive to us the whole night.

ETA- if you worked it out pp it was $4

we are going to put $500 in the envelope.. and based on how he does... we will add or just leave as is..

we are not sealing any envelopes!!

Since our RH said that the MD's tip goes to the MD only we gave $2 per person, $400, and then she did such an amazing job that I added more to the envelope at the end of the night. But I think $400 is extremely generous for one night of work!

We gave $400 and had under 200 people - so it worked out to be a little over $2 pp

We gave ours $300, but he totally made out because my dad and FIL also tipped him at least $150 each as well.

Thanks ladies! Our hall said $4-6 pp, while our DOC said $2-6. I think we've decided to give around $3.50. It works out $700

my hall suggested 3-5 per person (waiters, cooks, help, matra, etc....)


i guess you should call before hand and get an idea of how many ppl so you can give the right amount?

thats what we did- didnt seal any tips til we handed them off!!

think we did $400 or $500 cant remember.. then there were a bunch other we had to tip as well...

We had about 187 people and tipped our maitre'd $1,000.

Our Maitre'd and bridal attendants went above and beyond.

i was told it is customary to tip between $3-4 per person. You should also base your tip on teh srevice you get that night.

They mean per guest not per staff.
