Ivory dress question?

Ok, I heard that FH should get ivory shirt with his tux to match me. How about the groomsmen-should they have ivory shirts also. And my friend who's giving me away-what color shirt should he wear?

Thanks

Re: Ivory dress question?

IMO, white shirts look best with a tux. Nothing beats the clean crisp look of a white shirt with a suit.
Use ivory on the accent, like the vest or tie.

I agree. I've been to many weddings where the bride was wearing ivory and the mens shirts were crisp white and it looked fine.

Re: Ivory dress question?

I thought if the bride didn't wear white, no one was supposed to wear white. Not the flower-girl, groomsmen, no one. But that may just be the old-fashioned way of doing it. I would do what would make you happy.

Re: Ivory dress question?

I wore an ivory dress, and my husband and his groomsmen wore ivory shirts. I was afraid my dress would look 'dirty' next to a really white shirt and vest. There are pics in my albumn if you'd like to take a look!

Re: Ivory dress question?

You should look at the ivory shirts next to the vest when you go to pick out tuxes. I thought the shirts looked dirty but everyone has different taste so you might like them!
My dress is ivory and FI will wear an ivory veest & tie with a white shirt. The contrast of the shirt against the tie & vest looked really nice. But have your tux place show you the options and you'll figure out what you like best!!

Re: Ivory dress question?

If you are wearing an Ivory dress, then your FH should have an Ivory vest and shirt and the groomsmen should have Ivory shirts as well.

Not sure about the person giving you away.

We had everyone in ivory, my dad gave me away but i don't remember what he was wearing.

Re: Ivory dress question?

My dress is ivory and therefore everything else will be ivory... FH's shirt, GM's shirts, FG dress, even my dad's shirt! I'm extremely compulsive about everything matching perfectly... so I would definately say to go with the ivory shirts!

Same here. I paid way too much money for my dress for it to look dirty. I would definitely go with ivory shirts for everyone.

Re: Ivory dress question?

My gown is ivory and my FH will be wearing an ivory shirt as will the groomsmen & my uncle (he is giving me away). Each photographer that we met with told us that if your dress in ivory then the guys need to wear ivory shirts.

Me too...everything was ivory - including the aisle runner, pew bows, linens, menus, unity candle, and all the shirts, FG dresses, etc. I have a touch of OCD.

My dress was a true ivory/cream color and the white shirts just didn't look right, so ivory it was. Lots of pics in album.

Re: Ivory dress question?

You should put the groom and the GMs in ivory shirts, yes. Trust me it will look a lot better in pictures. (Don't put FH in one color and the GMs in another -- pick on. I'd personally pick ivory!)
