Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
Hi everyone. I always wanted to go here but I can't spend a lot on a dress. I was told this was the best place to go to see 'everything' and that they know what styles look good on you. So I would like to go there to see what styles look good and then go find a cheaper version of it elsewhere. Am I dillusional? I am afraid that I will fall in love with something there and have to have it. Should I not even go there? My sister says 'why torture yourself' if you know you can't buy anything........ Any thoughts? Experiences?

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
Unless you can afford an expensive gown, I dont think its a good idea to go to Kleinfelds. You are bound to fall in love with something over your budget and then have nothing cheaper compare to it.Many of the gowns you see at Kleinfelds will be virtually impossible to find cheaper knock offs.
The only tip I do have is if you do end up going and falling in love with an expensive dress, dont buy it from them. Kleinfelds takes expensive gowns and then inflates the price even more than other upscale salons do by adding on 'extra' charges you can get for free elsewhere.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
I tend to agree. Only if you think you will be able to stand not buying your 'dream dress' there, I would avoid it.I had a great experience there with a not so pushy saleswoman, but you might encounter one that is, and that can make for a bad experience. You can go there with a price point however, and they won't show you anything more expensive. I think the lowest priced dress they have is 1700.
For the pure experience and fun of it, it really is worth it though...I have had such a great time there!
Have you considered going there on a sample sale day?

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
I never went to Kleinfelds, in fact I had only gone to Davids, and found a dress that I liked. I don't regret going to Davids first to find out what's available at what pricing levels, but I do wish to have gone to Kleinfelds just to check the place out...

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
go to Kleinfeld.com ....they usually list a schedule of sample sale days. It is by appointment only, and you get one hour. They treat the sample sales like any other sale however....so you get the full treatment! If you don't see it listed on the site, call them and ask when the next one is. It's busy as hell those days, but it's worth it for the savings!
If you go, try to book Vivian as your consultant. She was wonderful to me!

I bought my dress from Kleinfeld's and had a wonderful experience. They have a wide selection of gowns with various price ranges depending on your budget.I think it's worth it to make an appointment.
Best of luck to you.....

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
Thank you thank you thank you. Just so I am prepared, what is their 'average' price for a dress there? $2000, $5000 ? (I don't want them to see my jaw drop
).

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
no, its not. unless you are the type of person who needs to have your ass kissed because that is what you are paying for. believe me, i worked there, i know what the markup is in that place.no offense to those of you who bought your dresses there. I promise you can buy the same dress else where for at least a few hundred less. the only good thing about them is that they carry designers that are a little more exclusive, if that is the kind of thing that is important to you.

the price range is from $2000-$15,000 although there is not too much in the $2000 range. average dress price is around $4,500-$7,000.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
I originally was having my dress made, but then horrible things happened 5 months before and I freaked... everyone suggested going to Kleinfelds... but everyone that I spoke to said that it took at least 8 months to get your dress... I figured I would give it a shot.I am SO glad that I did! Audry was my consultant and she was amazing. The first thing she did was take me up stairs... dresses start at $400! No luck there, but I did fall in love with my dress... i didn't think it was all too expensive... they even waived the rush fee... and I just found out it came in today!
I love that place and would definitely recommend any bride to go their and have that experience!!!

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
My dress was $1,500... they have a lot in that price range (the a-line type dresses...) Not too sure about the ball gowns... i didn't like that style...

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
Tara...I totally agree with the fact that the markup is high, and it does seem like a ripoff because of the extra charges (including the $400 standard alteration fee)....but I paid almost 500 less for my gown there than at another store I tried it on in. And the difference between that store and Kleinfelds is that Kleinfeld is still open! The store I almost bought the gown in, closed 3 weeks later.

I went and found their attitudes to be stuffy kind of, and honestly I saw the same dresses in 2 other places for so much less!

Tara - WOW! Thanks for you insider insight. I appreciate it. 4500-7500 is definately NOT im my price range. How do you feel about the sale dates? I just called and the next one is 3/23.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
jennifer - I am also not interested in the ball gown. I am actually looking for something sleek like a sheath gown or possibly an A-line. Are you saying that those dressed tend to be less expensive (please say yes
)??

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
HHAHAHAAH Theresa that is hysterical!!! But really true when you think about it!!!!! I went to a store last weekend that treated me like dirt when I asked to try on the $550 sample dress. They barely helped me. But when I asked to see the $3000 one they were all ears and hands.....

When else should you get your ass kissed than when you're buying a wedding gown.

Re: Kleinfeld's - is it worth it?
If you are the type of person that would still want the dress, even after seeing the price tag, and it was too much, then I would say not to go. It is not worth it to get upset about it if you can't affors it. Becasue if I fell in love with an expensive dress, I would be tempted to buy it.Welcome New Vendors
