Re: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

The caterer there is Abigal Kirsch... same for the Palm house at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Pier 60 and one other in tarrytown ( I forgot the name) and one more on the Brooklyn Pier ( I think its called pier 6?). Anyway, I've been to an event at Pier 60 and the food was amazing!!! Its $$$$$$$ though.

Re: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

Yea, I know its very expensive. The problem is, our affair needs to be glatt kosher, and abigail kirsch is one who can do that. The only other options are:

1. Crest Hollow, which I still have to look at, but have a feeling I wont be a huge fan.
2. Places where I just use the location, such as vineyards and lofts (huge rental fees, and must bring in tables, chairs, tents, everything).

IDK, i have to figure out if it would cost more to rent out a location or have it at the lighthouse.

Everyone says the view from the lighthouse is completely gorgeous!! Also, my style is very simple/modern, not glitzy.

Thanks for the response barbie!

I know that Leonard's of Great Neck can accomodate Kosher catering, but I don't know if they do Glatt Kosher...give them a call to find out if you haven't already

Re: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

Thanks ladies!! You're all so helpful!

The problem is, we REALLY want to stay away from temples if at all possible.

We'll see if it works out. I'll let you ladies know.

Re: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

my sister's wedding was a the lighthouse. Food was great and the places was beautiful.

I looked at Stage 6 and was not impressed looking over construction sites, etc.

The Royalton Mansion does Glatt Kosher they are owned by Gem Caterers.

You should look into it. It is definitely less expensive than going with Abigail Kirsh. You have to keep in mind that wiht Abigail Kirsh, they charge you per car to park, site fee, security fees, etc. It really added up to a lot.

I haven't been to a wedding at the lighthouse, but I've heard from friends that it's gorgeous....

If you need a hall that will provide kosher food, try Woodbury Country Club. We didn't have a kosher wedding, but it was important to us to have the option. Plus WCC has gorgeous grounds, and the service and food are amazing. Feel free to fm me if you have any questions!

Ok, I am the worst Jew ever, I totally didn't realize there was a difference between kosher and Glatt kosher....hehe don't tell my Rabbi! I *think* WCC does Glatt Kosher, but now I'm trying to think back...

Re: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

I think the Sands in Atlantic Beach does Glatt as well.

I know it is advertised on The Royalton's Web Site that they do Glatt.

Re: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

My RH is not kosher but they brought in some Glatt Kosher meals. Its alot more $$ but they said the food was excellent. They bring everything, ovens, place settings, etc.

we did go see the sands lido beach and they told us they would bring in glatt kosh but the dinners would be wrapped up (like airplane food).. we didnt want that.... our hall told us they would be served on plates. Make sure you find this out too (how the food will be served) if you go to a place that is not kosher

Re: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers

Here is my quick review of the wedding we went to yesterday at the Lighthouse:

Venue: was switched at the last moment, the lighthouse is Pier 61 , the wedding venue was switched to Pier 60 which is a similar style grouping of rooms except that we may have had more space then if we were actually at the lighthouse. The place itself was picture perfect. The ceremony happened at a room facing the water right at sunset. It was all just magical. The reception room was a huge room also with windows facing the water. The doors were left open if anyone cared to go outside and walk around the pier. The windows all faced the water so we were surrounded by the New York skyline with the added bonus of having sailboats go by.

Food: I would definitely say the food was unbelievable. This is my 6th wedding this year and the food at the Lighthouse by far exceeded every other venue we had been too. Everything from the Cocktail hour to reception was just wonderful. It was so good that you just couldn't pass anything down. Everyone just raved about it.

Photo Booth: this was something I was considering for my own wedding. We had a blast going into the booth and taking silly pictures. I may now consider doing it for my own wedding.

Overall, the night was just incredible and everyone left feeling like they had just been to a very memorable wedding. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have their wedding there.

My friend got married at the Sewane Country Club in Hewlett Harbor. It was great. It was Glatt Kosher (via outside catering) and it was the most delicious cocktail hour I had ever been to!!!
