Villa Victor - Syosset

I am having my wedding at the villa victor which is now called the north ritz club. Has anyone heard anything about it - good or bad?I liked it because it is newly renovated and looked nice.

Re: Villa Victor - Syosset

How are the prices there? It always looks gorgeous whenever I drive by. Just curious in case we decide to change locations.

Re: Villa Victor - Syosset

I think they are very, very reasonable. You get a lot for the money. They thru a lot into our package without us even asking. I may not be the best to go by because I booked awhile ago (last June) while construction was still going on. I assume the prices went up since then...

Re: Villa Victor - Syosset

hiya girls..

my bro is most likely going to book at the Ritz this week.. He is having a Jan 2003 wedding.

I'm just wondering, how is the service there? We're having outside catering and so he's charging us $15,500 for the facility and service, (he came down a whole $500!). Does that sound about right? I don't know... valet is included, coat check, and tea.. i'm concerned about the waiters.. he's giving 15 for 600 people!! and he's so adamant about his waiters being there just to fill pitchers! He said they won't take individual requests!? That ticked me off... problem is, my bro is soo picky, but he likes this place, so i'm not even complaining too much! There's not a lot of places that can fit us...and give us the entire facility to ourselves.

In case you're wondering how on earth we're fitting at the ritz, we're going to have men in the cocktail room, the women in the other room and the children downstairs in the chapel room.

You gals seem happy about what he's offering you...should we push him to give us more? or are we getting a deal? btw, he says he doesn't care if we bring 200 or 600! as if that doesn't effect the price.

any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks!

Re: Villa Victor - Syosset

I've never been to a wedding there but my fiance's company holiday party was there in December. The service was good and the food was excellent. It was a really nice place -

Re: Villa Victor - Syosset

What do you mean that you are having the men in one room and the women and children in the other rooms? How come you are having outside catering done? I think since you are having 600 people the price should come down alittle. I think that is how it works. I was always told 'more is less' Maybe if you use their catering he will come down. He was very reasonable when my parents went to book there for me. He threw in a lot and came down on price. Ask him about not paying tax if you pay all cash. Good Luck!

Re: Villa Victor - Syosset

I know the original number of waitstaff they gave me seemed low in comparison to what other places said.

I plan on adding 2 more people and paying the extra. I want those 2 people to run drinks and help the waitstaff if necessary.

I am a little confused being you sitaution is different. Have you looked at any other places and can compare numbers?

Re: Villa Victor - Syosset

Meg - thanks a lot for your opinion! I really appreciated it!

hmm.. do you think he will lower the price considerably if you pay cash or only decrease the amoung of taxes you'd have to pay?

thing is this.. my bro's fiancee lives in FL.. she's busy with wedding preparations there. In my culture, the bride's family pays for the wedding, and the reception (which is a separate day) is paid for and prepared by the groom's family. My bro's been busy so i'm helping him out.. =)

My family and her family are huge...and make up about 200 of the guestlist! The reason we're not going with their catering is because we need Pakistani food and obviuosly they don't provide that! Since our guests wil be both Pakistani and non, we're going with a caterer with both Pakistani and Italian chefs...

I am concerned about the waitstaff as well, perhaps we may have to pay more for him to give us a couple of more! You're right, bridetobe, other places offered more waitstaff. I felt that's one neg. about this place. I looked soooo many other places, but when my bro got a look at the places, he found fault with all of them! He can do with the Ritz.

oh, as for clarification on the guests.. like in the strict Jewish weddings, I'm told men and women are seated separately. We too usually have our affairs separated. So we're having the men in the smaller room and the women in the other. and the children (mostly family kids!) will be downstairs and we'll have some entertainment for them like balloon sculpting to keep them busy!!

take care, and thanks!
