9.23.10 QOTD

For people that no showed the day of the wedding, how many apologized or said anything about why they didnt make it?


I had people telling me up till the day before the wedding they were going to come, and didnt show up day of. only one gave me a response as to why, his son got sick and they were in the hospital with him, the rest have been avoiding me

We had 2 couples no show...they told me the day before.

HOWEVER

One couple is good family friends; they didn't even have the decency to tell us personally, they had one of our GMs do it (he works for them). THAT really pizzed me off!

We had a few people as no-shows. 1 couple called before and had an absolutely legitimate excuse. 1 guest just didn't show up though he sent a check with apologies. Another couple sent a gift with a good excuse.

One said 'Life got in the way' and apologized. Two of my former co-workers never said a word which is why I'm not bothered by the fact we drifted apart since then. Another couple is friends with MIL. Up until a week before the wedding they asked if they can bring their kids or something like that. I forget what the issue was but turns out they never came after we made accomodations for them.

I dont think I had any no-shows I did have a friend who couldnt amke it last min but I had another friend to take her place

We have not spoken to my MIL since the wedding since she didn't show.....she's left messages apologizing, but she went too far this time. Honestly, we don't plan on talking to her ever again.

We have 1 couple that didn't show and DH heard from a mutual friend (one of our groomsmen) that a few days before the wedding he knew wasn't coming (for no specific reason, he just had no intention of showing up) - did he tell us? Nope. And this was also the couple that claimed they never got their invite so DH went to their house and handed it to the wife who then RSVP'd yes ON THE SPOT and gave it back to us.

Needless to say we're not friends anymore.

we only had one person no show, and she had the flu and was going to drive up from baltimore. i found out about that during my RD, called her, and told her if she even thinks about making herself sicker for my sake that i will be so upset. she was actually really relieved! i once went to an OOT wedding with the flu, and it was the worst wedding experience i ever had--i'd never wish that on anyone!

however, we had a few people not give gifts, and never heard anything about it from them.

Two of my co-workers didn't show up but they said it was because they were having car trouble. They did give a gift.

We had a few no shows.... One guy apologized over and over... he had food poisoning and was in the hospital. Clearly we understood... others just didn't say a thing, and I doubt ever will.

We only had 1 no show - thank god!!!! it was a guest of my dads work friend, he apologized for his girlfriend not being able to come. and he gave us 5 place settings for our fine china, so I thought that was really nice. it was the only gift that we got everyone else gave us money!!!!

None of them called!!! We had six no shows and they were all DHs family. I was really upset. They did not even say something the next time we saw them. They were coming from Vermont (7 hours away) they had plenty of time to call or email.

We only had one no-show. It was my godfather's girlfriend, and he told me that night that she was sick and couldn't make it.

I had two other couples that told me the day before that they weren't going to make it. One was sick (ahem, ADRIANA)....and the other was from OOT and couldn't get a car to drive out here.

I had 10 no shows..but then 4 came day of as extras..so i really had 6 no shows...2 of them apologized, and I doubt the other 4 will..because the 4 that did not come are DH's cousins and I hate them. One of their sisters who did come wore an off white dress to my wedding and I was ready to shred her apart. I doubt I will ever get an apology or a gift for them not coming.

our only no show was mil friend.
(there was also dhs god mother n husband and dhs friends gf-they answered yes but we knew they wouldnt come and if they did we would have just mad an extra seat for them)
i said something to mil about her friend n she said she hasnt spoken to her since but she did give us a gift. wow 25 bucks didnt cover the salad. lol

we only had one no show and it was the husband of someone and he was sick..i understood..

now as for the 5 people who i still am hearing the..oh ur gift is in my car..whats ur address so ic an mail it etc etc excuse..i gave up hope

One apologized, she was in a car accident and couldn't drive her messed up car (but she apologized through my Grandma, who told my mom, who told me). And the other, who is a cousin with MAJOR issues, never spoke a word to me and hasn't spoken to me since. Her dad gave her a few hundred $$ to her ot give to me as a gift because he couldn't come. She basically stole the cash and no showed. Whatever, she's f-ed up and she would have ruined my day being there because of all her issues anyway.
