Re: anyone else?

I'm right there with you with the PCOS and cysts. My dr said that the cysts aren't effecting my ability to get pregnant, but I definetly think it is

Re: anyone else?

I will try to give the shorter version of the story...

I have a disease called NF2 (it was featured on an episode of MTV's true life) Its a neurological disorder and when I was 17 I was having a hard time lifting things ( I was a cheerleader all through high school so this was weird) they found I had a tumour entwined in my spinal chord that needed to be removed right away. The way to remove it was to remove the bones, cut the spinal chord and reove the tumor which they did...a 10 hour procedure. I woke up paralyzed from the neck down and was told it could be temporary or it could be permanent, only tim e would tell...within a month I was transferred into an inpatient rehab facility and started my long road to recovery re-learning how to walk, write, feed myself, dress myself...all things I most certainly took for granted...I went through years of rehab and surgeries and I thank god everyday that I can walk again and take care of myself...I like any have my good days and bad days. I have issues with balance and maneuvering tricky landscapes, stairs etc..I have an amazing support group which has helped me trmendously and also a positive attitude has also made a big difference :)

the cold weather kicks my tush but I have been pushing myself to just grin and bear the pain and go out and LIVE :)

I have really bad anxiety bc of peoples ignorance. People will make comments about my limp or asking if Im preggers bc im chubby and waddle sometimes so going out in public makes my skin crawl...I have to say I thank the LIW wives that I met back in April/May bc thy have helped me to overcome some of this anxiety...the old me would never have gone to a G2G but I knew it would be a great thing for me and it was!!!

I know I am babbling and I apologize I am on my lunch and thought this was a great question to ask! Thanks Antonella!!

Re: anyone else?

I constantly have cysts on my left ovary. It's really annoying and sometimes painful. I had surgery in 2006 to remove one it was so painful, and they just keep coming back...booo....

Re: anyone else?

I am epilepsy which was most likely caused by head injuries. Being a hockey player and a very active child I suffered 7 concussions throughout my life. three of which were after high school. I have been seizure free for the last 10 years but continue to suffer severe ocular migraines because of this.

Does the cholesterol cause birth defects or does the medication tat you are on cause it?

Re: anyone else?

I have high cholesterol too. I've had it since I was 6. My dad's entire family has sky high cholesterol. They haven't put me on meds yet, but I'm pretty certain it is inevitable.

I have lots of cysts in my breasts. They're not painful at all, but it really throws me off when I'm checking my breasts. I don't know what's a cyst or not.

I have a deviated septum and it drives me INSANE. Now that I'm DH's good insurance, I am hoping to have a procedure to fix it. I hope it doesn't mess up my nose!

In September, I was taking a shwoer and as I was washing my breasts I could have sworn I felt a lump so I made an appointment with my OBGYN and she let me know that it was really only an inflamed rib that I was feeling but she had told me that I had cystic breasts. I had and continue to have no idea what this is and I asked her if I should be worried and she said no. But, any clarification you could give me would be great!

Re: anyone else?

I suffer from a migraine disorder and started having migraines when I was 6. I have arthritis in my knees from the time i was 5 because my father hit me with a truck when i was getting out of a car when i was 3 which crushed my legs and they didnt know if I would walk again. Years of pt and walking with crutches allowed my to be a cheerleader, do karate and dance but I always suffered after. I suffered from eating disorders when I was a teenager which brought on bad anxiety (but luckly didnt cause other health problems) which I still have. And I was in a serious car accident when I was 24 which caused nerve damage and serious back problems. But I am greatful that so far nothing to serious.

Re: anyone else?

DH and I were both in a motorcycle accident 2 years ago. And it's been a super long healing process.

I broke my hip, tibia in like 6 places, fractured my pelvis, and he broke both legs and his forearm. He has healed mostly with some knee problems left, I on the other hand have not healed as well. I have nerve damage from (well they are not sure where the source is) which effects me walking. I can't stand or walk for long periods of time without being in pain which sucks. And now with cold weather brings more days of discomfort. I'm ready for the warmth to come back.

I need to move somewhere it's warm all year round!! lol. I have medication for pain...but I try not to take it until it is necessary. Because one day when I do become preggo...it will be mostly through the winter months (have to deliver close to summer due to teacher schedule..lol) so I need to learn to deal with the pain now as much as possible.

Re: anyone else?

My cholesterol is high too, but the doctors don't want me on meds just yet.

I have a rare skin allergy where I'm allergic to the sun. I get a rash, my body thinks it's an infection so I get a fever (but I love the sun, so tylenol is my BFF during vacations and the summer). I have to wear sunglasses anytime I'm outside (hence all the pics from my wedding wearing sunglasses) because the doctors are afraid that if the allergy 'spreads' to my eyes, I can go blind.

I have permanent nerve and muscle damage to my right hip because of a snow tubbing accident where I hit a metal pole. The nerve that's damaged is the one that travels down your leg so my right foot goes numb which sucks sometimes when I'm driving.

When I was 15 my stepdad was lighting fireworks and the cap of the M80 never went with it, but rather it went out and hit my knee. I was taken to the ER where they scraped out the plastics and partial gunpowder, but they missed some and turned into an infection that has stayed in my blood. The infection can surface at anytime where it has to be burned out - the most I've had was 42 needles of lidocain to numb the areas to be burned. That was in my knee but bc the infection is in my blood, it can surface anywhere...arms, legs, face, etc.

I have scars on my left wrist and hand bc of 2nd degree burns from oil - we used makeup to cover them up for the wedding.

It's nice to hear of other young women that go through similar things!

Re: anyone else?

Type 1 diabetes for the last 25 years. I HATE when people tell me I am not fat enough to have diabetes, or to change my diet and it will go away. It isn't that kind of diabetes! I wear an insulin pump. Let me tell you how much air travel sucks for me.

I also have Renaud's, which is an autoimmune that is linked to my diabetes. Makes my fingers and toes turn blue/purple/white if I am outside in sub 50 degree weather for more than 10 minutes.

Re: anyone else?

im right there with you ladies with the nerve damage. i was in a bad car accident in 2009 and i have nerve damage in my neck and left shoulder. it was causing intense pain down to my finger tips and made me lose muscle mass and the ability to lift heavy things (well not even heavy things, there was a point when i couldnt hold a half gallon of milk in my left hand) and and becuase i went so long without getting the proper help (had no isurance for almost all of 2010) some of my joints have been damaged and i have arthiritis in my left hand. the best thing i ever did for it was see a chiropracter. in my particular case the car accident knocked around my vertebrae in my neck causing the pinched nerve and the chiropratcer really helped. im in no pain now and am starting to get feeling back in my arm and the muscles are getting stronger.
