Baby fever...

Does anyone have baby fever but DH is FAR from it?

I'm a tad late this month and have been tired and sick the past couple of weeks. I'm spotting and I was cramping yesterday so I KNOW it's coming. Last week DH wanted me to take a pregnancy test because we messed with the pill a little bit and since I'm a smoker he just wanted me to take a test. I took it and found myself a little disappointed that it was negative but he was jumping up and down and dancing. He said he needs about another year to start trying and a year and a half for a house. I have no patience and he has no desire...anyone else in this boat?

Re: Baby fever...

kind of. I say I 'want' one but I know we're not ready. He's so beyond far from ready.

If that happened to me, he'd be running around and high fiving me for not being pregnant. Idk if he'll ever be ready.

sorry you're disappointed

I've got this DH too. I know we're not ready - salaries and living situation just aren't there yet. And I don't see any relief in the future.

Sorry you're disappointed Linda but it's not meant to be just yet. It will happen when it's supposed to...whether everyone's ready or not.

Re: Baby fever...

DH is much less ready than I am (though i'm not 100% ready either) ... but we agreed to POSSIBLY start in December ... that way, we have time to get used to the idea, and if December comes and we're still not ready, we'll just wait more

DH has gotten a bit of the baby fever lately too so that's good

Re: Baby fever...

We always said we'd wait about 3 years before trying. I shocked the crap out of myself when I started getting the fever in April of last year; I was even more shocked that DH wanted to try right away, and he just kept his mouth shut about it . One month after deciding to try, we found out I was pregnant. Happiest surprise ever.

A couple friend of mine and DH's had a son almost three years ago--the wife was so ready to have kids, and her husband was miserable. He spent the first couple of month of this baby's life just sulking about it. Now, he's one of the happiest dads ever, and they are expecting their second child! It just takes some people a little longer to warm up to the idea of being a parent. I think that's understandable, it's a huge life change!

Re: Baby fever...

Yes Yes Yes.

However, we are financially not even close to being ready. As soon as I get a job I think we are going to jump on the baby bandwagon.

Re: Baby fever...

Sometimes I have a little bit of baby fever. However, I really want to start trying when I'm 28/29, and I know that's what I really want. So when I get the fever, I remind myself that it needs to keep quiet for another 3-4 years.

Re: Baby fever...

i have a teensy bit of baby fever. but then when i think how much our lives will change, i realize i'm not quite ready. we already booked two vacations this year, and i'm running the nyc marathon. both things that i'd like to not be pregnant for!

we did agree that we'll start trying next spring though!

Re: Baby fever...

I'm ready 99% of the time and have started talking to doctors etc about what I should be doing before getting pregnant. Being settled in our house definitely helps, one less thing to do after we have a baby... when I think about things like having to cut back on traveling to the kinds of places we usually like to go and just how much your life in general does become different I do think twice about it.

DH is on board for it now... he wasn't a few months ago but he's a little older than I am, he'll be 34 this year and It hink just realized he doesn't want to be 40 when his first child is born...

Re: Baby fever...

sometimes i do, when im on here and see so many 2010 girls having babies, and i say to my self i want that, but then i think im soo not ready for that. And DH soooo far from being ready.

we really want a house first, our apartment is a good size but not big enough for a baby us and the dog.if it happens we will make it work, but for now we will enjoy being newlyweds and travel and enjoy our lives right now
