Back from La Toc.....Kinda Long - UPDATE AT END

AND IT WAS THE ABSOLUTE WORST VACATION OF MY LIFE!! EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG...DID GO WRONG! I feel slighted that my HM ****** as much as it did....

This is merely ONE DAY of the vacation from H3LL!

It started out with a phone call at 8:30am where we were informed that we were supposed to be in the lobby waiting to go on a jeep excursion. I informed the person at the tour desk that we didn’t plan any excursions for that day. She asked if this was room 160, which it was, but I reiterated the fact that we didn’t book any excursions for that day and informed them that we kept getting information for Nicole and Jeffrey so maybe they were supposed to be on the trip. She asked if our last name was Meyer, and I replied that it was KALLmeyer, and at that point she hung up the phone and I was able to go back to sleep. Later that day, my husband and I did decide to book the zipline adventure for the following day so I went to see the concierge department. The only person that was truly helpful to us throughout our trip was your intern from Holland, Niek. He was a true pleasure to work with! He called the tour desk immediately and helped me book the zipline, but informed me that we had already had an excursion for the following day. I then told him that we thought there was a mix up seeing as we kept getting information regarding Nicole and Jeffrey (not us, but we kept getting all this info for them). He walked me up to the tour desk and left me with Ava, a tour director. She informed me that the excursion was definitely for us. I asked her who booked the excursion. She told me that our travel agent booked the excursion the previous day. First I said, that's impossible because our travel agent went to Mexico for the week. Then I said, if the travel agent booked the excursion, and we didn’t come down to get the boarding pass, why weren’t we notified about it? She didn’t have an answer for me. She also informed me that it didn’t matter that we didn’t take the excursion that morning because it wasn’t the correct excursion anyway, and that the other girl that she worked with made a mistake. She asked me what I wanted to do. I told her that I needed to ask my husband what he wanted to do and would be back within the next ten minutes. I walked back to my room and explained what was happening regarding the excursions to my husband. While in the room, I grabbed a pineapple guava juice from the fridge (one of the few times we actually had juice becasue the mini bar NEVER got restocked and they ran out of stuff on a daily basis) and opened it. Shock to my surprise when ants started coming out of the juice. My husband came over and was amazed that this was happening. I quickly put the cap back on and walked back to the concierge department where Niek and 2 fellow employees were there. I showed him the juice and the three concierge employees stood there in amazement. They told me that they would send someone immediately to our room to clean out the fridge. One of them actually looked at me and said, “This is like a horror story. Ants coming out of the drink.” Since my husband was in the room, I walked back to the tour desk to plan the excursions. At that point, we tentatively booked the zipline for the following day and also for Saturday because we were trying to determine what was going on with the jeep excursion and if it would actually run because it required a minimum of 6 people which didn’t seem to be happening. The jeep tour did not go out so the credit was placed back on the credit card of whomever booked it, but we still have no idea who this person is. Also, when someone was sent to our room to check on the remaining drinks in the fridge, they walked in and said to my husband, “I heard you have ants in your room.” That employee looked around the room, didn’t see anything and walked out. He basically did nothing!

If only that was the end of the day…we had reservations at La Toc Restaurant at 9:15pm. I had asked the concierge department the previous night if there was any way to get an earlier reservation. They looked and informed me that there were no available reservations earlier, but would have the restaurant call us if one became available. At approximately 6pm on the night of our La Toc reservation, we received a phone call from the restaurant informing us that a reservation had opened for 8pm and were asked if we wanted it. I immediately said yes and thanked them profusely after repeating the time and having the woman confirm it. We arrived at La Toc at 7:55pm and gave our name to the man at the door and he replied, rather rudely, that there was no way that we received this phone call and that the earliest they could possibly take us was 8:45pm, but even then it wasn’t a guarantee. He basically accused me of lying to him about getting the phone call. He was rude about it so we decided not to dine there and walked out telling him to cancel our 9:15 reservation as well...actually, my DH pulled me out before I strangled him!


AND THAT WAS ONLY ONE DAY....FM me if you want more info as to what else went wrong...like we almost couldn't leave the country bc there's a gas shortage and St Lucia didn't want to give Jetblue enough gas to get us home.

I am so sorry! That is horrendous. I would write/email every single person/company you dealt with. Travel agent, hotel, etc...this is unacceptable and you should get some type of compensation!!

Oh, I emailed customer service the following day...but IDK if anything is going to come of it. There was so much more that went wrong...it was unreal!

holy cow!

I am so sorry you had such a horrible experience. If I were you, I would be on the phone morning/noon & night until they rectified the situation and compensated me something.

I really hope that you get something back for your troubles

I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend going to either the Excellence Resort in DR or Mexico. we went over the summer to the one in the DR and it was beyond fabulous. The people there couldn't do enough for you!!!!

Holy Crap...I had the complete opposite from you!!!n I am so sorry this happend to you!! FM with everything!! I wanna know!! That was how my wedding went for me...everything seemed to go wrong! But St. Lucia...wow I am surprised!!

I'm so sorry. We had a fantastic time at La Toc, but we did have major issues with the tour desk. Tours were booked incorrectly, were totally not as advertised, etc. I really felt like most of the tours were a waste of time and money and it's really my biggest regret. If we ever go back, I'm going really limit excursions and really check in on the tour desk a lot.However, we spoke with Victor in Guest Services, who was phenomenal, BTW and he got one of our excursions refunded and called several times to check in. We might have gotten the initial call from him just because we were Butler level, but he was 100% great. I would try writing to Michael, the resort manager. He seemed very good and very caring when we met him.

I have definitely advised other people to be wary of the tour desk.

I'm sorry you ended up cancelling your dinner at La Toc because it is seriously an amazing meal. I'm sorry they mixed up. They shouldn't have treated you that way. They should have just apologized for the misunderstanding and gotten you in as soon as possible.

I'm really sorry you didn't have a good time. We had such an amazing time there, so I'm really sorry to hear about it. What else happened?
