cleaning questions

I'm off today and boreeed and procrastinating from cleaning.

So here are some cleaning questions.

How often do you clean? What is your cleaning schedule like? I'm not a neat freak at all and DH isn't either. I want to get into better habits with cleaning and need some motivation. How often do you do a deep, intense cleaning?

Do you clean a little bit each day or take one day on the weekend to do a lot? Does DH help?

Re: cleaning questions

We try to clean a little bit everyday. I straighten up before work and then sweep when I get home (I have to everyday with our two giant, very hairy dogs).

DH doesn't help all that much with the day to day upkeep but on the weekends he does clean more than me. I just wanna be lazyyyyy on the weekends.

Re: cleaning questions

I do a pretty thorough cleaning once a week and then a real intense cleaning monthly.

I vacuum everyday and dust like 3 times a week!

Re: cleaning questions

I organize daily, like tidy up but usually not a cleaning with cleaning supplies. I do a good thorough cleaning each week (do the floors, toilet, sink, kitchen surfaces, etc.) and once a month I do a super duper big cleaning where the house just looks organized and cleaned and spotless (same as i do each week but also i magic eraser any marks in the walls, i clean every little corner and crack, bugspray, i febreeze, wash the windows, etc.) It's very hard to keep up this schedule but I try to as best as I can.

Re: cleaning questions

Oh yeah and DH only helps sweep, vacuum and wet jet the floors. i always have to do the bathroom and kitchen and laundry and his desk and side table to the bed areas are always a mess. Just getting him to do the floors for me is a miracle.

Re: cleaning questions

Also- if you are looking for motivation- checklists helped me at first. When I moved into my new apartment and its two floors, I felt overwhelmed so I broke it down room by room chore by chore. and then i would work and see what i could check off and I wanted to check it all off so eventually I saw more easily what could be done. i also like it because then I could show dh... see this list... i did these X amount of things in this room do you think you can do this 1 item. and then he would do like 1 thing in each room to help me because i was able to prove i did at least 20 more lol...

Re: cleaning questions

DH & I clean up after ourselves...so like after every shower we spray something...we both load up the dishwasher so no real work there, we both vacumm, we both do laundry, we both organize, and we both dust....we usually do it together like twice a week but for the most part, We're on the

'if you don't make a mess there will be no mess'

or

'If you did it, you clean it' plan.

Re: cleaning questions

I kinda go over everything everyday honestly & one big down & dirty cleaning at the end of each week. We divide up the chores & get it done.
Dusting
mopping
bathrooms
vaccuming
sweeping
cleaning fridge
cleaning oven/stove
Mirrors etc.
Laundry

Major things like windows, cabinets & all of the moldings etc we do once a month.

Re: cleaning questions

I clean a little bit everyday. I am obsessive about the bathroom ( a dirty bathroom disgusts me more than anything else), so I vacuum it almost every day.
I also wash the kitchen side boards, load dishes and vacuum the kitchen almost daily.

Re: cleaning questions

I try to clean up after myself...but DH doesn't clean up after himself so its a little hard.

We definitely don't live in a clean house...which kinda sucks. We should clean more but between school and taking care of SD and work its hard to keep up on. Once we have the money I definitely intend to hire someone to clean for us once a week lol

Re: cleaning questions

I try to do a little bit every day and on one weekend do a good cleaning... but the house is only REALLY clean when we're having company, so that's why we invite people over a lot.
