Early QOTD: What song reminds you most of your wedding? (or any significant event)

I just heard 'Could not ask for more' on the radio and realized that song is the one that strikes me most of memories of my wedding.

That would not be odd except for the fact that its not 'our' song and it wasnt even a song i really liked before hand or asked for. Our band leader suggested it as our second song and i reluctantly agreed thinking its sort of corny but it was fine.

So when i hear that song (more so than any other song played at our wedding many of which i painstakingly chose), really brings me back to that moment and how i felt and what i was thinking and how everything looked.

PS: Sorry for the sentimentality - the anniversary is making me reminise.

Stef, how funny, 'I could not ask for more' was our 2nd wedding song, so that's one, when we hear it, we get all warm & fuzzy. Same with 'At Last', our wedding song, especially since it's played more now because Celine re did it.


Both songs make us really see back to our day when we hear them.

Another is, I am not sure of the name of it, but it sounds like a ragee (sp?) song, It is 'Shake tat ting'.

Shamma got right up on the floor to that and so did my boss...it's so funny to see him dance to that, when I watch the video one of my bosses did for me


And oh, Kiesha made me realize 'I'm a believer' by Smashmouth, our entrance song also..I got chills just thinking about when we were announced!

Sounds silly - but Jump Around by House of Pain... only because EVERYONE was on the dance floor during that song and we were surrounded by all of our friends and its one of my favorite parts of the video.

Also, Oh what a night (Dec. 1963), probably for the same reason. Reminds me of all the fun we had just being together and with the people we care about.

Not really a song- but the NBA THEME SONG.

That was our intro song- Our MC announed us as follows:

Everyone rise to your feet -

At 5'11 from St John's University
an at 5'5 from Lehman College- for the first time as Man and wife- Mr & Mrs...... then the theme music plays and our guests go crazy!!!!

They are shocked, amused, and so excited.

Not to mention that all of our tables were named after NBA players.

Our guests say we had such a creative, original wedding.

So everytime I watch a Basketball game I will always remember that part of my wedding.

Heaven Must've Sent You - the last song of the night... one of my all time Motown faves and had everyone boogie-ing!

That song was the second to last song played at our wedding, at my request. Shock Me All Night Long was the very last song, played at my request.

Someone like You was our second song and reminds me of our wedding anytime I hear it.

I LOVE to catch songs from our wedding on the radio- it brings back a lot of memories for me.

I think our second song brings back the most memories (our first song brings back dancing lesson memories!! )

Somewhere Beyond the Sea - Bobby Darin...and it was on Austin Powers Goldmember, which DH watches everytime its on...


also our last song...My First, My Last, My Everything...barry White...Its just such a fun song

'Could Not Ask for More' was our wedding song - the version sung by Edwin McCain. So of course it reminds me of our wedding. Our last song of the night was also the theme from Dirty Dancing - 'I've had the time of my life', and as cheesy as it is, it reminds me of our wedding.

You know, it's so funny that you asked this question b/c just the other day, a classic disco song came on the radio, and I turned to my darling hubby and said, 'I'll never be able to hear this song again and NOT think of our wedding day.'

The song was 'Boogie Oogie Oogie' by Taste of Honey, and it wasn't a 'must play' song on my list or anything, but it was grouped in with several other disco hits from the 70's and the party was in full swing...people laughing, dancing having a great time, etc. Just really, really happy memories...

Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together'...it was one of the last songs of the night, and I remember spotting my father in law and thinking 'oh no I haven't danced with him yet!' and I grabbed him...it made his whole night from what I understand.

Also, any Stevie Wonder song...they played like 4 of them. lol.

wedding: of course my weddings songs: You're the Inspiration, and If You Say My Eyes are Beautiful.

Fat Boy (Maximillion) and Jump Around (House of Pain)....Cuz we are all dancin' crazy.

At the end of the night DH dedicated 'The Way You Look Tonight' by Elton John

AND MY FAVORITE: I'm very close with my dad, and our dance made everyone cry, and people ask me all the time how I did it...I had a special mix: It started with a verse of Butterfly Kisses (the part...she'll change her name today), my dad started crying right there) Wind Beneath My Wings (a verse in the middle) and ended it with Because You Loved Me (the verse...you were always there for me...) My brother is a dj (he didnt dj my wedding obviously) so he made me the mix on a cd, it was still the length of a regular song, but I loved it.

Also, Bon Jovi's Bounce album. I was listening to that in the car everywhere I went during planning!!

The Waiting by Tom Petty. David and his band got up to play that song during the reception, and was a total shock to me. Plus, anyone on my side of the family that didn't know he had a band was also pleasantly surprised.

I would also say 'Can't Help Falling in Love' by Elvis because that was our second dance song and 'Memories' also by Elvis because I danced with my dad to that song.

Obviously our wedding song also reminds me of our day - 'You Are So Beautiful To Me', which we had his cousins sing with the band.

I wont list all the MANY ITalian songs that give me chills (and tears), bring back memories of many occassions, and will always be part of my life..

Hmmm.

'All I Ask of You' From Phantom of the Opera.
We saw the show twice when we were dating, and we both absolutely loved it. So we danced to All I Ask of You as our 2nd song. Quite a few of the songs on the soundtrack have special meaning for us and our dating days...

'Thats What Friends are For' For YEARSSSSS many of my 'circle of friends' from over 15 years ago.. we play this song at any and every function. From our Sweet 16's to our weddings... We all hit the dance floor and join hands, and we're in tears in minutes.. I hear it and usually break down..

'Through the Years' John and his mom danced to this song. I always thought this song was amazing and now it has more meaning than ever...

I know what you mean about being sentimental! Our anniversary is this weekend already! Did it fly by or what? I've been reminiscing lately too

The songs that most remind me of our wedding day are:

You're so cool - theme song to True Romance - it's a beautiful instrumental song that was played at our cocktail hr and was such a festive song for the day - it's also on our video so it's a constant reminder of the day

Another is Sweet Caroline - ALL of our friends were up dancing at that time (they were most of the night!) and it was just so much fun!!!

Between my Anniversary coming up, and the next day is my son's first Birthday, Im been a big mush lately. My sister had a CD with several different bday songs on it, she was playing it in the car yesterday I Was in tears thinking my baby is going to be ONE !!!!
