Feeling angry for DH

I really don't understand what's up with the Long Island District of my husband's company (and for certain reasons I don't want to disclose the name of it).

DH got a new District Manager for his area. Apparently, the guy is really anal about overtime.

First of all, let me just say that DH's store is way over budget for the year already, so I can't understand how a little over time is going to KILL the company.

For the longest time, DH always gets overtime when there's a holiday. The old DM was also anal about overtime hours, however, never really took it away for the holidays because there was only 6 holidays a year; Christmas, thanksgiving, new years day, memorial day, 4th of July and labor day.

This new DM is forcing DH to take another day off next week, to even out his regular paycheck, because of the time and half he gets for labor day (which he is scheduled to work). Since DH never had this happen in his 8 years of employment, he called the Human Resources line and just wanted to know if this was correct, having to leave a message because no one picked up the phone. Human Resources does not call DH back, they call the DM to explain it to DH.

Is that even ethical? Now DH feels he's on this guy's radar as a complainer (when it's not really a complaint, he just wanted to get information on holiday pay and overtime policies, that is all). I told him he should have never left such a detailed message and it would have forced the woman to call him directly.

I mean, isn't that what human resources is for?

Completely outrageous. And DH has to tread lightly now since he wants out of the district, so he won't call HR and tell them they were wrong to do what they did because it's going to be them that decide whether or not he's fit to leave.

I feel so bad for him. He cannot catch a break!

Re: Feeling angry for DH

wow, that's ridiculous!

i totally agree - VERY wrong of HR ... they're supposed to be there to answer any questions, not to 'tattle-tell'..!!!

i'm so sorry your DH (and you, indirectly) have to deal with this crapola
