Girls please read

i cannot express how important it is not TO EVER right what you are doing on your FB or where you are going, or even uploading a picture of where you are that the given moment....

thursday night while DH and I were home, i was in the computer room and DH was working on his bike in the garage, someone tried to break into our house, WHILE WE WERE HOME. we are fine, the person realized that we were indeed home and ran away.

why we think?

originally we had planned on being in georgia for the week to visit DH mother, but then that quickly changed with the behavior of our pup and we decided to do local fun things. I may have mentioned a few times on FB that we were gonna be on vacation...not a going away vacation but stay cations and we think someone took it the wrong way and thought we weren't gonna be home and they were trying to break into our garage.

now we aren't making any assumptions but we can kinda narrow down the list of possibilities as to who it was...we dont think it was any one of our VERY best friends...at least we hope not..but it could of been pretty much anyone .. i have tons of FB friends soo who knows. like i said earlier , im not 100% sure it was someone from FB but thats what we are going with


SO PLEASE DONT EVEN WRITE IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE POST OFFICE FOR A SECOND < BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW, I HOPE YOU LEARN FROM OUR EXPERIENCE TO BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY

eta: we had a security system put in the very next day...you just NEVER know...

I totally agree...and btw, thank goodness you guys are fine! DHs cousin writes EVerYTHING on FB, posts pics of her kids, gives minute to minute breakdown of what shes doing and where she will be....its just so dangerous!

It's scary how much people have access to your personal information through FB.

yeah and now they have this thing i've been seeing that it actually tracks where you are when you post!

Yikes, I read about this happening on CNN.com.

I'm scared now because everyone keeps telling me on FB to have fun on vacation. Good thing i have a housesitter AND an alarm.

yup, i agree! i sometimes write if i'm going away, but i make sure to say DH will be there all the time (he sometimes works/grades from home). We were actually away the past three days in Baltimore and none of you knew ;).

i'm so sorry that happened to you--thats very scary!

If you allow your statuses to be viewed by other people in your networks, or friend or friends, or whatever, then other people can see them too so it might not have even been someone you know! I think it's really important to just have those be visible by friends only just in case you mention something by accident.

OMG Coll - I had posted about this before - a few months ago - my cousin told me about something like this - her best friedn posted she was going away on vacay for a week & when they came back their house was COMPLETELY cleaned out - & when I say COMPLETELY - you would have thought no one lived there - there wasnt a lamp, plug, fixture...NOTHING left - even all their toiletries were taken (why someone would want a used toothbrush or toiletpaper I have no idea) but it just goes to show you that you just NEVER know - I am SO glad you are both ok & that nothing was stolen.

I'm so glad you posted this! First of all, I'm so sorry this happened to you and I'm glad you and DH are alright.

One of my friends is a flight attendant and she's ALWAYS posting where she is and even worse, she posts about spending all this money on expensive stuff, etc. She was robbed once and another attempt was made a few months ago and she just doesn't learn and it makes me furious. She's all like, 'I'm only friends with people I know in real life'. Obviously that doesn't matter after what you posted. Maybe this will help her see although I doubt it because she thinks she knows everything.

So glad you're okay! We all need to be safe out there ladies!!

That's so scary! And I agree, I never post anything about what I'm doing until AFTER the event has occurred.
