Has anyone done the drive from Vegas to LA?

DH and I (and a bunch of our friends) are planning a Vegas trip soon and since we LOVE California, I thought I would surprise him with extending the trip a couple of days and driving to LA and flying home from there. I read online that it's only about 3 1/2 hours if you don't hit traffic. I've always wanted to do this so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it.

I did when I was little with my parents. I don't remember it taking all that long.
