Has Anyone Gotten a Construction Loan with their Mortgage

We have an offer in on a house (short sale) - if all goes well (and it's looking good), we are looking to tie a construction loan onto our mortgage.

Have any of you gotten a construction loan?

Do any of you recommend any affordable contractors?
