Tell Joey that it will prepare you for parenthood!! Numerous people have told me taking care of a puppy is harder than a newborn....I don't have children but I got an 8 week old puppy last year who we crate trained and wee wee pad trained.... Def lost sleep but he is so worth it. Once DH saw him he was in love. A picture isn't enough (even though now I want that puppy) once he sees the puppy he won't be able to resist!

this is so true!! we have a new puppy she's 6 months and she gets up and has to be walked every morning at 4:30 its insane but its preparing us for being parents (even though we dont even want to start trying till next summer) plus she's a rescue and likes nothing more than to be held, it really is like having a new baby in the house. so i see your hubbys point about the responsbility but its definietly worth it. and for us we're kinda homebodies, i'd much rather have friends over than go out so i dont mind being home on a friday night for the dog.

I agree with this! We have a 4.5 month old puppy. We got her like 5 weeks ago and she is a handful! DH also has been getting up to take her out at 4:30 and she has MAJOR separation anxiety because she is also a rescue- so she barks a lot during the day (our neighbor has been complaining to the condo board). Although we love her and she is a lot of fun, I can definitely understand your DH's point!

Re: How to convince DH to get a puppy

it is work we got ours at 2 months and i dealt with the constant waking up to take him to the bathroom but the hard part was only 2-3 months tops and then he would sleep through the night. obvi each do is different and you never know what kind of dog you will end up with but honestly its worth it! just tell him he wont have to take him to the bathroom and that you will put the time in, in the beginning. Thats what I did. I cried begged even told my mom how much I wanted a dog lol. then I found a cavalier i obsessed with and everyday made him look at this pups pictures and finally he areed!

well, what are his reasons to NOT get a puppy? We need to form a rational presentation of sorts that has an answer for his every objection

eta: I had to beg DH forever to get a second puppy and in the end HE was the one that fell in love with our Goober when he saw him and begged me to take him home.

Maybe you need to do that...get him face to face with a puppy

Well... he says...its too much work. Which i completely understand. but im willing to put the time in.

UHHH!!!!! SUPER CUTE!!!
