nervous... UPDATE
in 2 hours, i have a meeting with my boss ... at this meeting, i'm going to tell him that my co-worker who was recently promoted to be the team leader is a complete waste of space and that I should have been promoted.i'm sooooo nervous ... my heart is POUNDING just thinking about it
i'm almost positive that nothing will change immediately. I'm hoping that this will put a grain of doubt in my boss' head about the idiots' abilities and that, in the long run, the idiot will be demoted (better yet, fired) and i will get the team leader position.

ETA: all done ... my gosh, i was nervous! my boss pretty much said that he sticks by his decision to promote the idiot to team leader, but that he doesn';t want me to feel trapped in this position so he will try to find something for me (a way for me to get more responsibility) ... but it prob won't happen for a few more motnths. That's fine - i'm happy i got it off my chest .... this is pretty much the best possible outcome of the meeting so i'm happy
ETA2: only thing that didn't go perfectly is that i started tearing up in the middle and felt soooo embarrassed about it

OMG good luck!!!!I have such a similar situation, except I don't want her job. A co-worker was promoted, and ever since, she has been THE WORST manager. I know there's a learning curve, but she is just really not good with people at all. DH has encouraged me to say something to my boss, but I'm too afraid.

do yourself a favor. talk about your qualifications. but do not speak negatively of co-worker.you can get the same message across with out bringing other people down.
....its worth the try to promote yourself AND YOUR PRESENTATION STYLE

Thanks - that's what i was thinking too ... my only problem with it is that since the idiot was already promoted, i need to knock him down first before they can move me up, no?

I would definitely focus more on your qualifications. But if you say anything about the coworker, it should be about your concern for his ability get the job done well. Since he was already promoted, you don't want your boss to seem like you're undermining the decision. Emphasize ways that you excel over the jerky, not all of the ways that he just sux.
