Newlywed Question of the day - 7/25/11
Thanks, Evita for choosing me as the NWOTW
I noticed that a common topic of conversation on the boards was getting in shape for the wedding. Diets, exercise plans, starvation etc.
my question is - if you did diet, what was the one meal or food that you looked most forward to eating after saying 'i do?' How soon after the wedding did you eat it? Did it taste as you dreamed it would or did it disappoint?
Secondly, did DH join you in getting in shape or did he continue eating burgers and drinking beer up to the very day?

Re: Newlywed Question of the day - 7/25/11
There were SO many things that I stopped eating for a few months before but the faves were pizza, fried pickles and french fries!Literally the day after the wedding we went and got pizza
And 2 days after I made DH take me to Hooters for fried pickles and fries
DH had no choice but to be on my diet, since I'm in charge of making dinners in our house. So he was on an involuntary diet!

Re: Newlywed Question of the day - 7/25/11
I exercised fanatically more than I watched what I ate but in the last few weeks of before the wedding, I cut out as much salt and carbs as i could. As a result, I was craving a big, fat, salty, soft pretzel from a nyc cart like nobody's business. UGHHH i could taste it with lots of spicy brown mustard!
I had to wait two weeks after the wedding because we were off on our honeymoon and they don't have soft pretzels in Maldives
but I got it the first day I was back at work
delish!!!DH understands my battle with weight because he goes through the same thing. He was a chubby kid, then super skinny, then did the whole weight lifting (jersey shore
) thing. Then as an adult, he has trouble watching his eating. However, for the wedding, he kept track of his meals, got back into the gym, and really buckled down and lost like 20 lbs. I was so proud of him because he looked so handsome in our pics and more importantly, he felt sexy strutting around in a bathing suit on our honeymoon

Re: Newlywed Question of the day - 7/25/11
i missed my momma's home cooking! i was eating salads or egg whites for dinner for the last month or so. so the rice and meat dishes were def missed. but it's alllll good b/c now my mom can't stop giving us food for the apartment
DH was and still is so extremely busy at work that he had absolutely no time to work out but he knows how to control what and how much he eats so he didn't have to work out. me on the other had was working out 2x a day, 6x a week. that was exhausting. now i'm down to 5x a week, 1x a day but for this month i'm working out 2x a day 3 days out of the week. i just finally weighed myself since the wedding and i'm up 4 lbs. NOT HAPPY

That's awesome!!!! I adore Fritos!!
For me, all I know is once we got to the honeymoon I couldn't stop eating french fries LOL Although I normally don't have them that much I really cut them out before the wedding. But after that, it was a nightly snack. Bad, bad, bad!

Re: Newlywed Question of the day - 7/25/11
I have to make my macaroni and cheese from scratch!!! I'm still dieting (WW) but will give in to that as soon as I come back from the HM. I'm sure it will taste delicious!!!!DH didn't start dieting with me immediately, but after some encouragement (and pushing), he joined me. He somewhat had to anyway because I cook most of the time...

Re: Newlywed Question of the day - 7/25/11
I didn't really diet, diet but I did watch a little of what I was eating for lunches and when I was full I would just stop eating, instead of eating everything on my plate. We also didn't get fast food starting a few months leading up to the wedding. DH was the one encouraging me to watch what I eat and work out with him. Not because he thought I was heavy, but because he didn't want to hear me complain about how I felt at the wedding and on the honeymoon.
I couldn't wait to come home from the honeymoon and get me some McDonald's! Jill I'm right there with you!
