NWQOTD *~*~*August 3rd*~*~*
I've been having some interesting convo's with SIL's lately...hence my question today...Would you rather DH have Alzheimer's, where he couldn't remember you or anyone in your family anymore and would need constant, round the clock care? Or would you rather lose DH earlier in life, while he was still healthy and disease free?
I know this might sound heartless, but I think I would rather lose DH earlier than have to see him go through so much pain and not to mention the toll it would take on the whole family as well.
Either way, i don't thjink this is a decision you can truly make until your in that situation

Oh boy. This is a tough one. Alzeimer's is a disease I dont wish upon anyone. Is a lot of work and also very sad. I'm not a selfish person at all, that's why my answer would be to loose him earlier.

Tough question!!!!I'd have to go with lose him earlier. Although it might be a more traumatic experience - once a person has Alzheimer's and do not remember anything - you've already lost him. My grandmother has Alzheimer's and it's tough to watch her go through this. While the Alzheimer's would keep DH around longer it just would be painful on a longer time scale than losing him earlier.

I would agree. Lose him earlierThe pain that it causes everyone, watching a loved one go through Alzheimer's, is just awful.

DH has gone through enough health wise - so for now i saw loose him earlier.I guess you really never know what you would do in that situation unless you were in it and who knows, lots could change medically regarding the disease (one can only hope).

This EXACTLY. I'm watching my grandmother go through this now as well, and it's so sad. I would hate hate hate to lose him earlier, but the pain of living every day with someone who is no longer who they used to be would be devestating.
