Good Morning Ladies!

Today's Question!

When you go shopping, do you normally take DH when you are going or how much you spend? I'm not talking about shopping for essentials, like food. like retail therapy!
If you do mention it, how does he react? Or are DH's just used to your spending habits already?

I always tell DH when I am going shopping, to give him a heads up about the damage we will have to pay for next month,
He usually doesn't mind, but I never go crazy anyway.
Lately, he has been more scared when I tell him that I bought something new for our new home because then he will always ask how much I spent...

I have the opposite problem, DH lovvvvves to shop and spend money. I'm usually the one who says 'do you/we really NEED that?'. If he was in charge of the bills, we'd be broke on the street

OMG this exactly! DH LOVES to spend random money!

I went to the outlets the other day, told him I was going and told him I was going to try to spend around $250 because I only needed a couple of things for work, and he was like 'well as long as its under 1000, you can do whatever you want' I was like , I'm sorry, did our backyard money tree suddenly sprout??

He doesn't come for retail therapy...I prefer going with one of my girlfriends cause DH would be bored off his tush. He'd much rather be playing video games, watching Star Wars or something along those lines.

DH loves to shop, i think more than me. I mean I like to shop but when i shop, it's with a purpose. I'm a woman on a mission and I fly in and like what i see or don't and then move along.

DH on the other hand, loves to stroll, and take his time, and WINDOWSHOP We argue about this all the time because windowshopping is a waste of time to me. Why look at shiet you can't afford? It drives me crazy when he is sloooow like a snail in molasses

DH actually used to blow money like nothing when he was younger. The hugo boss store used to know him by name and he had all these flashy label ***** items like a fendi pants and jacket combo with all the F's on them

The good thing about DH is he now realizes that he was ridiculous and it hurts him how much money he could've saved in those years and now he's a smart shopper like MEEEE. He still has a weakness for sunglasses though.

eta: he will groan if i come home with shopping bags and our routine is I will try the stuff on and if he likes it, he will say 'You're lucky it's cute' and then he won't complain

even when we are on vacation he wants to check out local malls. j crew, macys, etc are the same in EVERY mall

DH's grown to know that i shop so he accepts it. although, when we go shopping together, he tends to buy and spend more than me. i always end up w/ 1 thing and he'll come home w/ 5 bags

i do always tell him when i'm going to go shopping and he just says to be careful and control myself. i've gottten a lot better esp now that we're trying to save for a house.

Please!!!!!!! i have the same agrument with DH every time we step into the mall! the only problem is that DH LOVES to shop and even though he doesn' tneed that brand new tshirt, he will buy it. but, DH is a label ***** so he has no problem dropping money like its hot down the toilet on new clothes when he still has tags on clothes in the closet!!!!!! when his birthday came around, i forbid everyone from buuying him clothes. i haven't lifted this ban yet so when Xmas comes, this ban will still be in place until every new tag has come!

at first dh doesnt want to go but sometimes I drag him but then I have to become the voice of reason. He will turn order and say get something thats 200 more because he thinks its better. If i left the decision up to me we would be broke. We just went looking at a bedroom set which at first he wasnt into but in the end we spent 1800 then I wanted to because he thought it was better even though it look almost exactly like the set I wanted

I always tell DH when I'm shopping... he's OK with it.. and I'll come home and say 'Look, hon, this is how much I saved!'...

He then asks me 'where is that money in the bank??' but all in a joking manor..

He's never complained about the money I've spent on me.. but we just got him an outfit for his Nephews engagement party, spent $200 and he wigged out!

(of course I told him, this is what real clothes cost... he's just used to shorts and tees from Walmart.)

This is my DH - he's keep asking when we can go to Game Stop!! I can wander aimlessly if I'm in the right mindset, but otherwise I'm a pretty focused shopper myself. But I wouldn't drag DH with me if I was just going for retail therapy.

Retail therapy I go by myself - I don't normally go crazy and I like to look for sales, use coupons (that's why I LOOOOVE Macy's). Most of the time I return a lot of the things I buy anyway, I just don't like trying them on at home. So he knows if he seems me come him with like 2-3 bags, 2 are usually being returned once I try them hah. He doesn't care how much I spend and vice versa, we each have our own accounts, so really it's up to us how much we spend, as long as at the end of the month we're both contributing what we need to the bills and our savings account.

Althoughhhh - he LOVES going shopping for house things. He never complains about that and usually joins me for those trips

I tell him after I spend it...but I never go really crazy. If I'm going to make a big purchase (over $100 I'll check to make sure its ok since he handles the finances)

UM YEA!


I spend what comes out of my Bank Account and I mention it casually. Online Shopping does more damage then anything. I got lost in Express for an hour or so just trying things on I knew I wasn't going to buy. I LOVE CLOTHES! When I am with him I def feel like I am being retricted so if I really want something that I know he'll be mad at I go by myself LOL

this!!! although every four months I give my self a mini shopping spree with my VS card. although he doesn't mind

In the 6.5+ years that DH and I have been together, we have never gone shopping together. He hates shopping, I love it. I usually don't tell him what I spend either I come home w/ bags and he just He doesn't go shopping for his own clothes either...I shop for him.
