Opinion on First Anniversary/Birthday Gift.

Soooo I'm surprising DH with a trip to Jamaica for his 30th birthday in September. At first, I didn't want to tell him until like the week before his birthday. I had it all planned out- I was going to give him a hint everyday and it'd be a big surprise.

Butttttttt our first anniversary is in 3 weeks and I didn't get him anything. He said we weren't going to exchange gifts, but part of me doesn't believe him. I was going to get him something small- the next 3 books in the series he's reading, but I'm worried that it won't be enough.

So, my question is- do you think I should tell him about Jamaica? It'd be like a first anniversary/birthday gift. Or stick with the original plan and hope like hell he doesn't go all out (which he probably won't)?

This, definitely! I am THE worst gift giver in the sense that I burst at the seams when I have a great surprise lined up. But, I think it is DEF worth keeping it to yourself bc it is an amazing surprise!!!!

I'm the SAME way! I could never hide an engagement ring, or plan a surprise birthday party. I should've waited til July to book this because I'm biting my tongue trying not to say anything!

In fact, I bought a dress the other day thinking 'Jamaica!' and Dan asked what it was for and I almost said Jamaica! But I recovered and just shrugged and said 'I dunno- a cruise, I guess? I still want to go someplace tropical this year.'

I take that as a challenge! I know I'll be so disappointed if I tell him now though.

Stick with the plan. After the big reveal for the birthday he'll understand.

Re: Opinion on First Anniversary/Birthday Gift.

Thanks everyone! I decided to wait and tell him in September. If I feel like caving again, talk me down!

And yeah, it's a great gift- but it's only half for him... half for me.
