I guess we're both pretty traditional, it meant a lot to DH for me to take his last name and I didn't mind taking it. Plus, We are planning to have children and I want to have the same last name as my kids.

DH changed his last name about 10 years ago to honor is grandmother and since he didn't want to be associated with his birth father. His 1st wife refused to take his last name and he hated when he would go to her class and the kids would say 'Hi mr. 1st wife's maiden name'.

I knew that I wanted to take his name to begin with but both those reasons cemented it even more.

I took DH's last name, but made my maiden name my middle name. This made both of us happy!

I changed my name to DH's because of tradition. I also will be using my maiden name as our first son's name. I love my maiden name, Nicholas, and I feel it will be used best as a boys first name! I always wanted to honor my father by naming my first boy after him but his name is Larry, so Nicholas is much better!!!
