Passport - Name Change

How long did it take for you to get your passport back if you changed your name? Is there a way to get it expedited? I might be going away at the end of May so I need to get mine back asap. TIA !!

Re: Passport - Name Change

1 Week......I was amazed.

You can absolutely ask for expediting (an extra $60) and overnighting (another $13).

I took mine to the post office on a Saturday, had it overnighted (it was there by Monday), and had it back in hand by Friday. I couldn't believe how quickly it came.

Re: Passport - Name Change

I still haven't changed mine so when we went to London I just booked the tickets in my maiden name and brought my passport and old ID with me. DH booked it last minute as a surprise so there was no way I was going to get it back in time.

I was thinking of doing this too, since I still have my old license with my maiden name. I am just worried that if they scan my license at the airport a red flag will come up that my name has been changed?? I dont even know if they will scan my license but I would hate to have that happen and then not be able to get on the plane, lol. I am just a worry wart like that .

I did it for Thailand back in November and London in March... no one said anything either time... but if you're nervous I would just send it in tomorrow and have it expedited. GL!!!!!

Re: Passport - Name Change

DH and I are going to Mexico in June and I'm not changing my name. I'm going to leave it until it's time to renew it. The travel agent said it's totally fine as long as everything is booked under your maiden name.
