random question for pet owners (because i'm bored)

is your pet afraid of something random?


I used to have a cat who was insanely brave ... but she was scared to death of balloons.

Now, i have a parrot, Tookie, who's afraid of just about everything ... he's even afraid of straws

just now, I was looking into buying this weighted bar thing (for working out at home) but then realized that if i brought that into the house, Tookie would freak the hell out ... i guess i saved some money though

My cat Vixen is pretty fearless. I've seen her tail puff up before but it was more about a noise or something rather than actually seeing something and running away from it. And my cat will actually run to the front door when she hears the doorbell... what cat does that???

My dog Zoey, on the other hand... she used to be afraid of so many random things! One day, at my apartment in college, we picked up this mirror that was collecting dust behind our couch to hang it on the wall, and she went bananas!!! Same thing happened when we rearranged our dining room table for a dinner party, it was as if the chairs were threatening to attack her and she went crazy!

Haha straws?! My dog is afraid of the camera. Or maybe not afraid, but she doesn't like it. I try to be sneaky about taking her picture when she's asleep but she hears the shutter or me clicking the buttons and wakes up and goes ballistic.. I mean barking and lunging at the camera! So then I try to take pictures of my other dog who sits in front of the camera like a prince, but she won't let me take his picture either! She barks at the camera when it's in his face.

She's also terrified of the garage door opening. But she's really afraid of that. We live on the second floor of a 3 story house. The first floor has the garage and what we use as almost a basement even though it's a legal 3rd apartment. So our living room is on the 2nd floor directly above the garage and when my neighbor (who rents the garage) opens the door, Lucy freaks out. I mean runs and hides in the spare bedroom and cries until we coax her out.

And both dogs are afraid of the broom and hair dryer.

My cat id afraid of tinfoil and pots. He sees the foil and darts! No idea why. He hates the pots b/c they make too much noise when we move them around. This one I get! In general he doesn't like loud random noises.

Avery is REALLY curious about a lot of things. For some reason she's also scared of balloons. She tried to play with it and when it came back at her, she RAN! She's also scared of the vacuum and hair dryer. The second I take the hair dryer out, she DARTS out of the bathroom. And when the vacuum is on she sits on her back legs and stares at you until the machine turns out.

I was thinking noise too but foil doesn't make as much noise as pots. But i'm sure it's the noise. Or maybe he associated the color of the foil to the look of the pots.

Daisy is afraid of plastic bags. Its ridiculous. She totally freaks out when we're changing the gargbage bags.

Its kinda cute in a mean way though lol

Hmmm not necessary afraid of something random...however, one of my cats is a biggg scaredy cat in general....

Whenever he comes down from upstairs, he cries a few times in a row. If we don't answer him, he won't come down the stairs. It's quite cute actually lol

Chewie is afraid of life.

But most notably: cars, people, spoons.

Seven is afraid of boxes. However, we blame that on DH putting a box over her when she was little leading her to run into the walls.

My dog is TERRIFIED of balloons. I thought he was having a seizure once, but we removed the balloon from the room and he stopped. Same thing happened when he saw a balloon in the house again. Poor fellow, I wonder why he is so traumatized by them.

My little girl is TERRIFIED of lightning. She really hates any loud noises. She gets super scared.

Ya know, my dog LOVES them! We had a bunch of balloons left over from my birthday and they were all around the house so the dogs were trying to play with them. We decided to give them a balloon each to see what they made of them. Naturally, they popped almost immediately and we thought that would be it, they'd freak out. One did, and ran away, the other froze for a second like she was deciding if the pop was a good thing or a bad thing and then went after the rest of the balloons like the popping was the best thing in the world. We had to chase her around the house and wrestle the balloon scraps away from her so she didn't choke. lol!
