Stupid to be upset about this, BUT...
I can't help it.When we were living in our tiny arse apartment in NY, I stored whatever I wasn't using in DH's parent's basement. I regret it tenfold because they must have cleaned the basement, and all our stuff was neatly stacked in a corner. When I went there a week before we left to tell DH which ones to take in the truck, everything was all over the place.
I am missing one tub of christmas stuff - the tree, my houses, and ornaments. I missing steak knives, a mixer, canasters, and wooden salad set I got from my bridal shower.
Also, because I KNEW the truck DH rented was gonna be small, I do not having dining room chairs for the new set I have been DYING to have.
And as I'm unpacking, I missing a lot of stuff. Picture frames, a glass sculpture of a cat that I had packed in a box, and a few prylex dishes.
I know this isn't stuff I should feel upset about - but one thing does upset me - his MOTHER took this stuff and said I can get it when we come out.
I hate when DH listens to his mother over his WIFE.
DONE.

That is frustrating... DH and I lost some stuff that his mom was 'storing' for us as well.Don't worry - you'll start to build your new fresh home and before you know it, you won't miss the other stuff anymore!

I would be upset as well. 100%. You have a valid reason, but I wouldn't stress too much about it. That being said, now that you have a son on the way, there will come a day when you expect him to listen to you. We can only learn from our experiences and hopefully not be have as monsterous as our in laws.

this would upset me only because he would have listened to hi mother over me! especially if its stuff you use all the time!As soon as the baby is born, and you know your IL's will come to visit, I would make them bring that stuff with them!
