TTC fears

What are your fears about becoming pregnant?

I know a lot of people stress about money or the life changes after you have the baby. But I am afraid/scared of being pregnant and the “out”

It may sound crazy but I have a total irrational fear, of throwing up – and I am so scared that I am going to have morning sickness, I feel like I will never be able to leave my house if I am feeling sick. My sister has 2 girls and she NEVER has morning sickness EVER!!! I hope I am like her.

just wondering if I am the only one. . . .

btw, we plan on ttc within the next year - I'll be 31 in may

Re: TTC fears

no you arent alone. morning sickness is my GREATEST fear. I know i will get it really bad all day long, since i often get nauseaus now. plus i take meds for nausea and i wont be able to take them once prego.
i hate vomiting and i usually get really religious and pray really hard when i get sick. otherwise everything else will work out!!!

Re: TTC fears

1-figuring out work/day care
2-wanting to know the gender (DH doesnt)
3-making room in our place (yikes!)
4-bills, bills, bills
5-feeling lazier than usual

as for the growing thing, im not really freaked by that. and as for the 'out', i really want a c-sec. haha. so im hoping the baby doesnt flip upside down

Re: TTC fears

I am really afraid of the toll a pregnancy takes on your body. I had an emergency surgery on my abdomen a few years ago and I have had a lot of trouble with pain there and scar tissue. Im worried being preggers will really make things worse on my body there, but I know it will be totally worth it.

Other fears are going into labor during a chicago winter (urghhh), slipping on ice while preggers, fitting a baby into our tiny condo, my dogs being mean to a new baby, and getting those charley horses all the pregnant women talk about!

I'd say another big fear is having MIL stay with us after the birth. NIGHTMARE!!!!!

I am afraid of all of these things too and the actually delivery. I do not want to be in that much pain!
also things like getting in and out of the bath tub being 7-9 months - what if I trip and fall???? I am so clumsy
my biggest and most selfish fear is getting fat and not being able to lose all that after giving birth.
so no Marie u are not alone in being scared

WHAAAAAT??? I feel like maybe I knew this but blocked it out... I'm like 99% sure I have to have a c-sec but I will be a wreck if I have to push. It just seems so unpleasant.

Re: TTC fears

I'm terrified. Absolutely panic stricken when it comes to pregnancy. The whole thing- the morning sickness, the weight gain, the doctor's appointments (I have an irrational fear of having my blood drawn- like fainting kind of fear!), and ESPECIALLY the birth itself.

I actually can't ever imagine myself actively TTC. More likely we'll just NOT try to prevent it anymore.

I often joke to DH that I'd be cool with adoption but I'm more than half serious.

me too ... but i hear the Drs clean it up and don't say a word about it ... so you might poop and not even know it!

as strange as this sounds, i'm really nervous to tell my job about being preggo ... i know for a fact that they would be 100% happy for me, but i just feel like they'd look down on me - that it would make me look like a 'bad' employee because i need to take time off for maternity leave and doctor visits and whatnot. i know it's stupid, but you asked about irrational fears so i shared

yeppp! I asked my bff who is a nurse to check it out when she was doing her obgyn rotation and she said yep...you poop. apparently they have a little machine that helps clean it

But also as Mor said, they said you do it and have no idea. Its not like anyone laughs at you...but I still have the irrational fear.

UGH! I forgot about those- I used to get them ALL the time. (I haven't gotten them in almost a year ::knock on wood::) They are SO painful. And the thing that prevents them- potassium, especially bananas. I HATE bananas.

Yupp- when my mom told me about the poop, I officially decided then and there that DH would not be allowed in the room with me.
