Re: work related...
im not sure what is right or wrong, but i would go to the hiring manager and speak witht hem letting them know what you want to do. find out more about the position (salary etc) and if it is something you plan to pursue i would then go to your direct manager. I would just be certain you emphasize that you love the company and dont want to leave you just want a change.good luck!

Re: work related...
My sister in law just went through the same thing. She was at her company for close to 5 years, and saw an opportunity open up that she really wanted to try. I think she first spoke directly w/ her manager about the position and her interests in it, and her manager ended up helping her application get through and now she got the job! She has a really great relationship w/ her manager, so not sure if you're in the same boat or can handle in same way. Not sure if I would recommend going over your manager and applying directly, as that might make it a weird situation ...but if they really respect you as an employee there, they'll do what they can to help you continue to succeed as long as you're in the same company. Goodluck!!!

Re: work related...
I would contact the hiring manager. People can't hold it against you if you want to better yourself.

Re: work related...
Thanks ladies! I'm going to reach out this afternoon (they're both in a meeting together until later...)Both managers work VERY closely to one another and I've worked for both of them together at one point. I think my biggest obstacle will be expressing that i'm RIGHT for the position - not 'overqualified.' Thanks again, i'll keep you posted
