WWYD - Getting out of storm's way...
DH and I are contemplating going up to Westchester and hunkering down at our IL's from Saturday evening to Sunday for when Irene comes.... only problem... we can't take our cat
MIL and SIL are highly allergic, but I'm afraid of leaving her. Not so much because it's overnight - she's done that plenty of times, but just in case something happens at the apartment. Should we just stay to be with her?WWYD?

I would just stay. It would be a PITA to have to drive back then with powerlines down and roads closed. We were gonna go upstate this weekend but are skipping it because we don't want to have to drive back.

We're in Forest Hills, so definitely not south of Sunrise, but nonetheless, after dealing with the destruction from last year's tornado that hit our area, it just makes me reluctant. Thanks a lot, mother nature.

Depending on the area you're in Forest Hills, I think we're safe. I just looked up the evacuation areas and my area (I'm by the Forest hills Gardens) is in no zone. We're just going to get tons of rain and winds, but other than that, we should be okay.
Just park your car away from trees if you use street parking.
