Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
Okay, what do you think??When I do laundry I add liquid fabric softner to the little holder for it inside my washing machine, up to the 'fill to' line.
Patrick says I'm supposed to fill it only half way, and fill it the rest of the way with water.
We didn't buy our washer (it came with the house), so we don't have the instruction manual, and this has become a very heated debate around here.
I have PILES of dirty laundry from our trip that I haven't been able to do because our cesspool had over flowed, and it was just fixed yesterday. I will now be spending the day washing clothes, and I want to do it 'right'.

Re: Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
I dont add fabric softener to my wash at all. For whatever reason, I dont like how the clothes feel when they come out. I add a Bounce sheet to the dryer which does the trick without the 'film' i feel when I use the liquid stuff.

Re: Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
I thought you were going to have the same debat Darren and I do...and that is to use fabric softner in the washer or the dryer. He has the same feelings as Stef but then drives me nuts because I find those darn sheets everywhere!

Re: Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
I use both liquid softner and dryer sheets. I hang dry most of my clothes, and I find that without the liquid, some things come out 'crunchy'.
I use only dryer sheets with jeans though because they come too soft with the liquid, and they don't seem to retain their shape.

Re: Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
The directions on the lid of my mom's washing say to add water...I don't know if it is only new washing machines or not. The washer is only a few years old.

Re: Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
We have a front loading washing machine and the manual says 'to add water to dilute concentrated fabric sofener.' I don't know if that is because our washer uses less water than top loaders.

Re: Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
I always add water - always have. Sometimes it leaves spots if I don't - I guess the water dilutes before it dispenses it.

Re: Your opinions needed ~ The Great Laundry Debate
I put a capful of softener and then fill it to the top with water.I've found that a cap does the job, (thats all they tell you to use anyway) and fabric softener is kinda thick so it oftens get clogged in that little holder over time.
Ever open it up? Yuckkkkkkkkk.
PS- The instructions for my new machine actually does say to add water.

Ok-just got home from work and read the user manual for our washer (it's only 2 months old)...It says to dilute the fabric softener with water!!
I didnt know this cause I only use the bounce dryer sheets...
