Our wedding day was the best day of my life. Aside from the anxiety from nerves the a.m. of, everything was a dream come true. As brides we spend months upon months planning this event that flashes by in an instant and what we are left with aside from pictures are the awesome memories. Memories that wouldn’t be what they are without the help from the people you hire to do their jobs properly and efficiently. I am beyond pleased with every vendor we chose and feel very fortunate to be saying this. So - without further ado .. here is my review .. eventually I'll figure out how to add pictures ... But for now ---

WEATHER

Whatever - nothing you can do about it girls (I stressed for days about it - not worth it) thankfully Hurricane Earl only made it rain on our wedding day rather than the evacuations they were predicting on Long Island! It was the only day in weeks that it rained. Didn't affect me at all. We got engaged in the rain, celebrated the year anniversary of the engagement in the rain so it only seemed appropriate that it would rain on our wedding day. In the words of Alanis - isn't it ironic. Besides, I hear it’s good luck!


INVITATIONS - ELLE ETTE (Hoboken, NJ)

Invites were very important to me as it sets the tone of the whole wedding. These girls made our vision come alive with tri-fold charcoal gray metallic invites w/pink ribbon. I also had them do our menus, escort cards, itinerary for hotel guests, and thank you cards. They were on the expensive side but they are custom made to whatever you want. I had a ton of compliments on them. They were perfect.














REHEARSAL DINNER – LOMBARDI’S ON THE SOUND

My father and mother in law chose this place for us because they knew we wanted somewhere with a water view. This place is GORGEOUS! The food was great, the service even better and the view – INSANE. We had a room upstairs that had an outside wrap around porch overlooking the water. So pretty. I highly recommend this place for any event!



FLORIST - BAYVIEW FLORIST

This was our favorite vendor to work with. Marion, the owner, was who I dealt with. I drove her crazy and she was so so sweet, so accommodating, so helpful.

When I went to her I knew exactly what I wanted as far as decor. I didn't want just white or ivory tablecloths. I wanted the room to be dramatic. The wow factor. I wanted charcoal gray linens, crystals hanging from the covered chairs, rhinestone napkin holders, pewter chargers, tall candle holders with floating candles. I walked into her shop and told her all of this and she said with confidence, I'll get you everything you want. So, I had her do our linens, chair covers, etc. and of course, the flowers.

I gave her my budget and gave her carte blanche as far as the flowers went after changing my mind a thousand times. Only thing I said was I wanted the centerpieces to be dark pink on some tables and pale pink on the other ones and I specified that I wanted candles everywhere. Everything from the ceremony (flowers at the altar, petals and candles lining the aisle, bouquets w/crystals in them) all so gorgeous. She added flowers in the bowls on the cocktail hour tables. Then the reception - BREATHTAKING. Truly amazing. I kept saying 'do whatever you want, I just want to walk in and be WOWED' .. This is exactly what happened. If you haven't booked your florist yet - PLEASE call her. You will never regret it. Promise.

Bryan and I are not religious. We wanted a non denominational ceremony. We found Deborah listed in a bridal magazine article for non denominational ceremonies. We met her at her NYC apartment and as soon as we started talking I knew she was the one. She was outgoing yet sensitive and gentle mannered, she gives off a friendly, calm vibe - perfect for all of you nervous brides like I was. She constructed our ceremony with us, not for us. We chose the things we wanted to do (i.e. unity candle ceremony, rose ceremony, etc). We wrote our own vows and she printed them in large font and held them in her book so we can hold hands as we read them to each other. She was soothing and reassuring when I needed her to be (before the ceremony) and she was genuinely so happy for us. Love her!


STRING QUARTET (for hospitality and ceremony) - CAPRICCIO ENSEMBLE

Second best vendor! I cannot say enough great things about our string quartet. I worked with Natalie and she was a pleasure to work with and made our ceremony a dream come true. I wanted all contemporary music and so I chose In My Life for the parents, officiant, groom and best man to walk down to. The BP walked down to Only Time by Enya and I walked down to All I Want is You by U2. The rendition of my song gave me the goose bumps as I was walking, it was SO BEAUTIFUL. Fun Fact: They are the same quartet that played at Jerry Seinfeld’s wedding.




STEEL DRUM BAND (for cocktail hour)

THEY WERE AWESOME .. (from what I heard the last 10 minutes I was able to attend my cocktail hour since someone broke my bustle so I spent the cocktail hour getting it sewn back, boo) Anyway – guests were saying how amazing they were so that’s good enough for me!!

Okay seriously – the dance floor was packed the entire night. They were INCREDIBLE! They never took a break. One of the highlights was during dinner. One of the guys sang Jersey Girl solo and NAILED IT. Also, another one of the band members did a few Michael Jackson songs, glove, dancing and all! During Thriller he grabbed me out there to dance with him – I made all my bridesmaids come out there (because I was embarrassed to be alone, haha) and made it a bridesmaid dance! SO FUN!


FAVORS --- THE SUGAR CHIC

For favors we wanted to do something personal to our story. One of the gifts Bryan got me for the engagement was a custom made wine box. I called Melissa (The Sugar Chic) and showed her a picture of the wine box and she sent me a sample of a cookie which was a replica of the picture. It was EXACTLY like the wine box! Plus – The cookies are DELICIOUS - BONUS!

GROOM’S CAKE – AUDREY'S BAKERY

I surprised Bryan with a groom’s cake. At first I was going for a poker table but then saw some photos of animal cakes that Audrey’s had made. I called them up and showed them a picture of our dog. They said sure, no problem. They did it pretty much exact – only thing off were the colors – she’s more brown and they made her very light. But her pose was exact and it tasted amazing (devil’s food w/cookies and cream filling – YUM!)

I found this photographer via a google search. As soon as I saw their work – I was hooked. They are a married couple who specialize in destination weddings. They have been around the world shooting weddings. They came and did our engagement shoot months before our wedding. After the photo shoot they separated us and did interviews about our relationship. We showed this documentary they put together at the rehearsal dinner. It was AWESOME!!! Here it is:

The day of the wedding they were great. I had very limited time for photos because of a hectic a.m. but from the teasers I can see they did a great job. Only problem we had was that during our first dance they had two video cameras set up and the one zoomed in didn’t work. Oh well. Another thing that is slightly disappointing is that they do not do video trailers. All in all though – they were great. Looking forward to getting everything back from them. FUN FACT: They worked Ruben Studdard’s wedding.

The runner was beautiful but not worth the money. It was expensive and the quality of the cloth was great. But the monogram was smaller than I expected and the color was a but faded. It was pretty but if I had to do it over – I would skip this part. Nobody really took notice anyway.

We wanted to incorporate our dog in our wedding so we put her picture on a stamp! It was so easy and they came out PERFECT!!! I highly recommend this. It’s affordable and so many people commented on them.




UPLIGHTING – APPLE ENTERTAINMENT
A+

If you are undecided about uplighting – go for it. It makes the room look so beautiful and it really sets the ambience. I dealt with TJ at Apple and from the first five minutes on the phone I knew I was in great hands. I stressed to TJ that we didn’t want it to look like a club in there. No blinking lights or anything like that – I just wanted it to slowly change color throughout the night and he did an awesome job!!! He was affordable and great to work with!





LIMOS/SHUTTLES – CAMELOT
A+

Nothing to say aside from – GO WITH CAMELOT. Joe is amazing to work with. He loves LIW girls and will work with your budget. The drivers were professional and courteous. The limo and the shuttles were always on time and were clean and so pretty!



THE DRESS – KLEINFELD

I originally had a dress custom made at a place in NJ and after 8 months of waiting for it to come in, I hated it. I called Kleinfeld 4 months before the wedding freaking out. They took me in the next day.

I fell in love the minute I laid eyes on my dress. They were having an Angel Rivera trunk show so I got it at a great price and was literally the first person to ever have purchased this dress. I met the designer – it was a great experience. The salesgirl Jessica was awesome and the woman who did the alterations, Rosalia, was great!!! I loved my experience at this store.

I also purchased my veil here. I loved it but it was very expensive and I know I probably
could have gotten it a lot cheaper.


TUXES – MEN’S WEARHOUSE
A

Picking out the tuxes took all of 15 minutes. It was so easy and they were great to work with. I started getting a bit nervous after reading some poor reviews and hearing some horror stories. Thankfully everything worked out for everybody!



BRIDESMAID DRESSES – B2 (STYLE B1039)

These dresses are beautiful. We special ordered them in Tiffany Chiffon – Gray. The girls said they were comfortable and they looked beautiful on every body type.

When we first started looking into venues I knew I wanted to get married on Long Island. I am not from Long Island but I started doing research and every place I loved was on L.I. I narrowed my search to three venues. We live pretty far so I made all three appointments on the same day. First appt was at East Wind. We walked out of there and I said we don’t have to look any further – this place is gorgeous. Bryan insisted that since we made the appts we should go look. Next up Fox Hollow. Loved it. Again, Bryan pressed on. Last but definitely not least .. Flowerfield. We walked in, looked at each other and knew right away. BREATHTAKING.

Throughout the planning Hallie (our Banquet Mgr) was so helpful. The tasting was awesome. The day of the wedding exceeded our highest expectations. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. And that’s exactly what it was – PERFECTION. Andy was our Maitre D’ and he was fantastic. He kept everything moving on time, he made sure we had everything we wanted. We never had to ask for anything, we never had to go to the bar – he was on top of every single detail.

Now onto my bridal attendant, Joette. SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! From the minute I got there she was by my side the whole time. Anything I needed she was there. She was giving me mints, fixing my hair, holding my lip gloss, had tissues for me. She was on top of it all. When my train was being bustled my girlfriend broke one of the ties. Joette pulled out a sewing kit and sewed it for me! During the reception she came to our table and said “your feet must be killing you, I brought you your slippers (I bought bridal ballet slippers from Isotoner – GET THESE – they’re so comfortable!!) .. anyway – she sat on the floor and took my shoes off and slipped on the ballet flats and was massaging my feet!!!!!!!! She was the most helpful, professional, friendly person. Right before I walked down the aisle I started crying – I was so nervous. Her and Hallie were there fanning me and giving me tissues trying to make me laugh so I’d calm down. Truly my rock for the night. I love her.

The food is DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! The cocktail hour has SO much food. They have 16 butler passed hors d’oeuvres, 4 stations to choose from plus their stations that they set up with different cheeses and stuff like that. Everything from the pasta, salads, crab cakes, mashed potato bar to the appetizers and entrees – all SO SO PERFECT!!! Their own bakery made our wedding cake – people are still saying how amazing it was. When you book with them and are ready to choose a cake you can go to their bakery and ask them for a tasting platter. They will give you like 4 choices of cake and like 5-6 fillings to try so you can decide what you want. Only bad news, their red velvet cake – not so good. Try their vanilla chocolate chip cake with white and dark chocolate mousse filling. You won’t regret it!!

For any of you girls reading this who have not booked a venue you should go check this place out. They made us feel like royalty the entire night.

Oh – and at the end of the night – they packed up so much food for Bryan and I. They had one of each entrée that we selected plus wedding cake and a ton of pastries from the gourmet dessert station we had. Oh – and they gave us a bottle of champagne with the packed up food.


I cannot say enough great things about Flowerfield. When I was planning the wedding, the brides on this site who had already been married there were telling me how great it was but YOU NEVER KNOW JUST HOW AMAZING THEY REALLY ARE UNTIL IT’S YOUR DAY!!!!!!
