3/24 - Wedding @ LaGrange Inn, Parties Alive, Duet, Lovin' Oven Floral Design, Davids, Bridal Elegance, Cruise Control

I can’t believe that I am writing my review. When I first got “addicted” to LI Weddings, I felt like my turn would never come! Now it is here! My advice to any brides who are planning their wedding is ENJOY IT!! I had a great time planning my wedding and an even better time that night because I said, “oh well” to things that weren’t going to effect the time my guests had.
With that said….

This site gave me a million ideas that ultimately ended up saving me tons of money! Thank you!!
Weather – A++
A little chilly in the afternoon when we were taking pictures, but I was thrilled with a blue sky and sun!

Invitations
Costco.com– A+
These invitations were beautiful and affordable! Lots of choices and you can choose your typeset, wording – everything. We ordered them and had them 5 days later. They came with all envelopes, tissue paper, reception cards, response cards and invitations. I would highly recommend.

Davids Bridal – A+
I had a great experience with David’s. I would recommend the one in Lake Grove – it is a new store, very organized and the help is great. I did not have my alterations done there, but had a wonderful experience for everything I did do there.

Bridal Alterations
Bridal Elegance – A++
Phyllis is just amazing! She did every alteration with a smile and had no problem with anything I wanted to do. She even made a few suggestions that I am SO glad I took! She knows what she is doing and is very honest. She also did my mom’s alterations with 4 days until the wedding. She was just great! Had I known about her earlier, I would have done everything through her.

Bridal Veil and Headpiece
Barrons (Mr. Karen) – A++
Tri-County Flea Market
AMAZING!! From the second we got to the booth, we knew we were in good hands. He took so much time helping me pick the perfect headpiece and veil. Everything is custom made and just beautiful (for half the price of other places I was looking). This was definitely an awesome find!!

Bridesmaid Dresses
Burton’s Bridal – D
Melville
The only reason that they are not receiving an F is because in the end, the dresses looked great. They were rude and tried to blame faulty alterations on the way my sister was standing. Her dress was an inch and a half off the ground and looked awful. They did fix it, but only after an hour of us arguing that the dress was wrong (we had 2 of my sisters in dresses that looked totally different after the alterations). At the reception, my cousin was wearing the dress and started feeling something sticking her. There were THREE pins still in her dress. Her zipper broke open when she sneezed and was stuck with hat pins the entire night. The thing that really bothered me is that they never apologized. Their whole attitude was terrible.

Rehearsal Dinner
FatFish Bistro– A++
Bay Shore
We had the greatest experience at this restaurant. We worked with Kevin and he was unbelievable. We wanted something laid back since ours was the night before the wedding and in our hometown. We were able to choose our own menu and he set up a beautiful buffet. Plus, the restaurant is right on the water, so it was a nice view. I would definitely consider FatFish for any event.

Hair and Makeup
Racine – A
Islip
I bought all the girls gift certificates to have their makeup done for their gift. Racine did a great job and everyone looked beautiful! Cynthia did my makeup and recreated a picture perfectly. I have no complaints!

Flowers
Lovin’ Oven Floral Design – A+
Sayville
Keyth totally nailed it! I came in not able to describe what I had in my head and he made bouquets that were absolutely perfect. 1 week before the wedding, I looked at my contract and the flowers were not right. I called him and he immediately reordered the right flowers. He was so approachable and willing to answer any questions I had. He was just great!

Limo
Cruise Control – A++
We loved Cruise Control right away because they kept their limos in a garage. We weren’t going very far on the wedding day, so we only got 1 escalade limo for everyone (including us). It was perfect. And our driver was AMAZING! I started losing it a bit in the back of the church and Jerry talked me right out of it. He said I had 2 choices “To walk down the aisle crying or to walk down the aisle smiling” and that I had to decide. Needless to say I’m smiling in every picture coming down the church. Thank you Jerry!!

Photography/Videography
Duet – A+ (so far)
I can’t imagine that Duet won’t get an A++ from me after all is said and done. They were great. I had 2 photographers that never stopped taking pictures the whole day. The proofs are amazing! I had no communication issues with them. The only thing I would suggest to brides using Duet is to make sure that you have a list of posed photos you want. They will take anything you want, but they don’t tend to set up different combinations of people or posed pictures. I will update when I get my album and video!

DJ
Parties Alive – A++
We had Richie as our MC and he did an awesome job! He totally read the crowd and the dance floor was literally packed all night! People were even dancing before the bridal party was introduced and it never stopped. We had the percussionist as well, which everyone keeps raving about. It was definitely worth it – it added so much to the music. Several of my guests took their card at the end of the night, and my cousin (who is a professional DJ for Universal Studios) said that Parties Alive was the best DJ he has ever heard. Thank you Richie!

Cake
Audrey's Bakery – A+
WOW! Our guests have not stopped talking about our cake. We heard so many times that it was the best wedding cake they have ever tasted. And it was beautiful! I brought a picture of a cake that I liked and he recreated it perfectly.

Church
St. Patrick Church
Bay Shore – C
I feel bad giving my own parish such a poor rating, but the woman that ran our rehearsal (and was also there on our wedding day) was so rude and mean that I can’t give it any other rating. The church is amazing and so picturesque, so I am thrilled with my pictures in the church. However, when the woman at the church is the most negative comments that we heard from our wedding day, something is wrong. She was literally pushing my guests down the aisle at 2:20, telling them they were late (our mass started at 2:30). She yelled at one of my guests for having a cell phone (it was a camera) and told me at my rehearsal (the night before) that I had to change the order my girls were walking down the aisle. The kicker was that she made my MIL walk down the aisle with an usher instead of her husband of 30 years. St. Patrick’s should be ASHAMED of the way we were treated after attending mass at this church for 24 years. For the amount of money I paid to get married there, I feel I should have been treated differently.

Reception
La Grange Inn – A+++
West Islip
I can’t say enough about La Grange! Susan was wonderful and Annette was our Maitre’d for the night. Our guests keep telling us how great the service was, how spacious the room was, and how accommodating everyone was. We had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, dessert was beautiful, and the chocolate fountain was a real hit!! We took a chance on the place, since I hadn’t read any reviews. But, we went for a tasting and were sold. The price was right, it was charming (which is what we wanted) and local. They couldn’t do enough for us – picking the menu, dropping off our centerpieces – everything was so easy! We definitely made the right decision!! I can’t speak highly enough of this place.

i met the mean rehearsal lady
she did the same thing and said thats the way fmil should walk down
my fsil fought with her and said no matter what she's letting fmil and ffil walk down together

the rehearsal lady was FUMING when she saw this

create a photo album on LIW--and upload your pics there.

then you can right click the pics and get the 'properties' and then copy the link of the .JPG and use that as the image and insert it into the post
