7/24/04 Palmer Vineyards Wedding Review NOW WITH PICTURES!!

I’m back from my honeymoon in Hawaii and here is my review:

Invitations: Laura at La Productions A+
I couldn’t ask for anything better. Laura helped me find exactly what I was looking for. We went with a very unique self-mailer from Encore.

Calligraphy: Calligraphy by Sharon in Port Washington A+
At $1.50 per envelope, we couldn’t beat the price and she did a beautiful job. We got wonderful compliments on how nice and elegant our invitations looked.

Dress: Watters & Watters from Bridal Suite of Patchogue A+
The price was great, the service was more than adequate no problems.

Veil: Elen Henderson from Bridal Suite of Patchogue C
I ordered my veil and when it came in they gave me the wrong veil and lost the real one I ordered. No one at Bridal Suite was willing to help me they kept saying that it was still coming from the manufacturer, 6 months later. I had to call the manufacturer to find out that my veil had been sent months ago and it was lost in their basement. I finally got my veil 4 weeks before my wedding without an apology or any compensation.

Alterations: Eleni in Holbrook B+
She works out of her home and the price was right for $65, but on my wedding day, my strapless dress kept falling down. I felt like I was giving my guests a show half the night.

Hair: Lisa Scolo A+
Lisa did an amazing job on my hair. It looked great and stayed put all night through all my pictures and dancing.

Make-up: Janice Mechecci A+
I don’t wear a lot of make-up and Janice really worked with me at the trial to find something that would look good in pictures and that I would be comfortable in. I have to say that I felt like I looked so beautiful on my wedding day and I know that it is partly because of Janice.

Location: Palmer Vineyard A+
Sue at Palmer was great. She helped me out with everything. The place looked gorgeous and I had no problems at all.

Flowers: Jens Flower Shop A+
All my flowers arrived where they were supposed to, early and looking better than I ever could have hoped. The centerpieces were amazing. Everyone commented on how nice they looked and how long they lasted after the wedding.

Limos: Dynasty Limousine A-
I had no problem with the drivers, they were polite, on time and catered to all my needs. One driver even had magical stain dissolver to help get rid of the nasty stains my flowers left on my dress. The only minor problem we had was that the 12 passenger stretch didn’t seem to have air conditioning. My bridal party was sweating all the way, about an hour, to the reception.

Wedding Cake: Audreys Bake Shop A+
They made the cake of my dreams. It was a cheesecake. Everyone kept commenting that they couldn’t believe that it was a wedding cake. And it tasted amazing. They also did a small red velvet cake for my mother (it was her birthday the next day). I didn’t have any of that, but my mom said it was delicious.

Caterer: Christopher Michael Catering A-
The food was amazing and the service was more than satisfactory. I only have two small problems with them. The first was a breakdown in communication. We didn’t have linens or place settings two days before the wedding. The caterer thought I was taking care of it, I thought he was taking care of it. It finally was done and wasn’t a major issue, except that I had no choice in linen or napkin color. I got white.
The other issue was that I had gotten a small birthday cake with my wedding cake, because it was my mothers birthday. The catering staff thought this was the top to my wedding cake already boxed up for me. When they cut my cake for my guests, they cut the top layer. Then when the DJ announced my mothers birthday and we sang “Happy Birthday” no one could find her cake. I found it with other things to go home with me.

DJ: Spin Around Sound A+++++
I cant say enough good things about them. I think they are what really made the wedding. Tom was very professional and played everything on our must play list. He also judged the crowed and kept everyone dancing all night long. We have been to other weddings with other DJs and other weddings with Spin Around Sound, and Tom is the Best. Spin Around Sound is energetic and fun. He really made my wedding memorable.

Photographer: VIP photography A+
I will have a better idea of how to rate them whaen I get my proofs back, but they did a great job at my wedding. John took all the pictures I wanted and he got some great candids. He showed me one he got of my flower girl smelling some flowers. She didn’t even know he took the picture. She was so cute. I cant wait to get the proofs.

Your wedding sounds awesome - we are also using Tom from Spin around Sound so it's great to know you liked him a lot. I am still looking for someone to do my hair at our wedding out in Aquebogue, was the person who did yours at a salon near there? I think Palmer is near the Vineyard Caterers.

The person who did my hair is located in North Babylon. She came to the Hampton Inn at exit 63 off the LIE to do my hair. Are you getting ready in Aquebogue?

Everything sounds wonderful! You're actually the second person today to say that the 12 passenger limo from Dynasty had no A/C. I'm actually going to meet with them tomorrow and I will mention the A/C issue, though it probably won't make much of a difference for my October wedding.
