EDITED WITH PICS My June 10, 2007 wedding review. MILLER PLACE INN / PATKEN / PEDESTALS/ ROCK SISTERS & MORE!!!
Edited: Here's a handful of pics. They were ALL beautiful so it was hard to choose. Sorry I didnt post more...maybe when i have more time :)Please see 'Proofs' in my album...im not having much luck posting. SOrry
Ok, here it goes. I’ll try and make this as to the point but informative as possible.
I always knew I wanted to have a wedding, but I also knew that I wanted it to be different from the others I attended. A little less untraditional…A little less, all around.
I wanted it to be just close family & friends. Something during the day. Something simple….
My Wedding Day was the greatest day of my life. It went by way too fast. I loved everything and wish I could do it over and over again.
LIW – First I just want to thank everyone for all of their help. There is no way I could have made my day as memorable and perfect as it was if it wasn’t for all of your help.
Reception Hall / Ceremony – Miller Place Inn., Miller Palace, NY A+
It was exactly what we were looking for. Small, intimate, beautiful…
Christopher (Manager) was wonderful. At times I thought I was being a neurotic PITA but he encouraged me to call with every question I had.
Day of: My bridal attendant Rosette (I hope that was her name) was THE BEST. I swear, every time I turned around she had another drink for me and DH (This was very important …wink, wink) or she was holding my dress or making sure we ate. Phenomenal! I can’t say enough about her!
Maitre D’ – Im not too sure what he was supposed to do…Maybe it’s b/c we never really needed him…???
Officiant: Rev. Michael McNamara A+
I got his info from Kittythestray and cant thank her enough. DH is probably the most anti-religious person I have ever met and he was addoment about not having a religious, sappy, spiritual ceremony. I on the other hand grew up catholic but my father’s side is Jewish, and I am not all that religious on either side so his requests didn’t really bother me.
Rev. Michael was WONDERFUL. I explained to him on the phone that I wanted a short, sweet, non-religious, non-spiritual ceremony and what he gave us was BEYOND PERFECT!
I remember speaking with him on the phone about a mo. Before the wedding when he read me the reading he was thinking of using. I was balling in my office. I promised DH that he would not be disappointed, and he wasn’t.
Everyone couldn’t have been happier! It was about t a 15 min ceremony… simple, beautiful and about what we were there for, becoming 1….and then it was time to CELEBRATE! Everyone raved!
DJ: Party Up Productions – B
I used Party Up b/c they are a mutual friend of the families and heard wonderful things about them. FH and I are not dancers so we asked our DJ to not make us or our guests dance if they didn’t want to and he did exactly that.
I wasn’t too particular with the “What to Play’ and what “Not to play’, and to be honest, the day went by so fast I can probably only name 4 songs that he played. The only thing I was unhappy with was that DH and I asked that he ask all of our guests to join in dancing during the 1st chorus of our 1st dance (As mentioned before DH does not dance and hates to be on display) but I guess he assumed it was a request of mine too and when I had my father/daughter dance he cut it VERY short.
Florist – Pedestals, Minneola: A+ (Marcella)
OMG I loved Marchella! She was wonderful. At first I had a vision … peonies, hydrangeas, roses…ugh! What a nightmare. When it was time to see my samples about a month before the wedding I HATED THEM!!! It was terrible. I felt awful. They nailed what I had envisioned, but when it came to life it wasn’t at all what I pictured. DH took control and decided to go with all roses. I have to say, they looked gorgeous. The colors, the arrangements, everything. I loved them!
Photographer – Patken (Vinnie & Raymond) A+
Loved them! I just hope I love my pics as much as we loved them (heehee)
They were so great to work with. Made DH and I feel so comfortable.
Their work usually speaks for itself so we’ll wait to see.
I will repost with proofs when I get them
EDITED: AMAZING! Simply AMAZING!
Limo- Serenity Limo A
Because we only had 5 in the BP (That’s including the FG and RB) and we all met up and got ready at my friends whom is just a few miles from the hall. DH & I decided to just get 1 car for the both of us for a pick up and drop off. Serenity was clean, on time and very easy to work with.
Hair- B+ Rock Sisters
Im only giving them a B+ b/c I didn’t love the way my hair came out the day of my wedding. In all fairness though, my hair is very hard to work with. & I am very picky. … I just liked it better the day of my trial.
Both Sarah and Bridgette were on time and sweet as anything though. I definitely recommend them
Dress; Demetrious Macy’s Bridal Manhasset A
I know girls have had a bad experience with them but I have no complaints.
I know we all tend to get a little nervous when you hear “No Cap” on alterations but I got very lucky.
BM Dresses: Bill Levkoff – Macy’s Bridal A
FG Dress: www.shopbriarpatch.com A
One of the LIW girls gave me this address and was sooo happy with their selection.
The only thing I would pay attention to is their return policy.
MOB Dress –Macy’s A
My mom is very petite…4’11” to be exact, and I know her style. I was having a day affair and I knew she didn’t want to wear anything long or ‘Matronly looking’ to quote her. I saw her dress walking through Macy’s in Manhasset one day and bought it for her. She loved it! She lives in FL so Im not sure where she had all her alterations done, but she ended up getting shoes and a bag to match almost exact. She looked so cute!
Tuxes: Mens Warehouse, Farmingdale A
Im not sure how to rate this so I gave them an A.
However, I did think they were a little on the expensive side
Veil- www.Glamgal.com A-
Well, I never wanted to wear a veil…until 7 days before my wedding. Talk about last minute decisions. Again, a wonderful LIWer passed along this website and Anne (I think she might be the owner) was an angel. Unfortunately I paid a fortune for a rush delivery from CA to NY but she custom made my beautiful veil for me in just a few days. Only one problem, it wasn’t the one I ordered. I originally ordered a silk chiffon veil w/ a pencil trim and got a silk tulle veil with no pencil trim. The fabric was so beautiful I wore it anyway and was SOOOO happy I ordered one
Invitations A+
www.paperelegance.com
Invitation shopping was a nightmare. I hated it. I shopped for invites for probably 2 ½ mo. I wanted something personalized. Wedding colors, monograms…anything, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune. FINALLY I went to Papyrus I saw an invite that I liked. I wrote down the name and make and searched online and found them at Paper Elegance.com. LOVED THEM!!!! They were wonderful. I ordered via phone and had my invites in about a week!!! I spent $113 on 75 invites, liners, response, return envelopes…everything. I was so happy. Probably one of my favorites!
Rings:
Kristen’s Jewelers, Bayshore A++
DH and I have a very close relationship with our jeweler. I picked out my setting probably close to 5 years ago. It took another year and a half -2 years to get the center stone, and 2 years later we were back for out wedding bands. I love them! Our jeweler Jim is so knowledgably and honest. Aside from the fact very talented. I found my E-Ring in white gold and they made it for me in platinum. When it came time to buy my wedding band DH wanted it to match exactly…..a little obsessive compulsive I guess. Anyway, they made my wedding band and it’s just beautiful. It sits flush against my e-ring and the setting lines up perfect. 2 thumbs up!
DH’s ring was a lot easier. Being he’s in construction and wanted to be able to wear it all the time (Awwww) titanium was our only pick
Favors:
LOVE Coasters
www.BlueRainbowDesigns.com A+
They are a LIW vendor and great to work with. I placed my order and had my favors in less then a week.
Wedding Cake Cookies –
Quintessential Cookies –A+
www.qcookies.com
Another LIW vendor and incredible. I placed an order for 20 cookies for the kids favors. They were beautiful and delicious!!!! They bake the cookies about 3 days before your event so that they are fresh and because they are located in Northport, NY and I was close enough, I paid the same for ship delivery and they hand delivered them to my house. I will use them again for sure!
Wrapped boxes of Hershey kisses
DIY – Boxes and ribbon from Michael’s Craft stores and kisses from Costco
I wanted to have a favor for every person in addition to the coasters which I did 1 per couple. I thought it was a pretty touch.
Menu’s – Another DIY. Program paper from Michaels Crafts.
BM’s gifts:
Swarovski Necklaces, Swarovski, Roosevelt Field Mall
I wanted to get the girls something they could wear the day of and something that they could wear again. A lot of girls are funny with pearls (I for one am not but I knew all 3 of the BM’s would most likely never wear them again).
I bought these for all 3 of my BM’s and bought little swarovski crystal stud earrings for my FG and bigger ones for my BF/MOH.
Wedding Night Hotel
Danfords on the Sound, Pt. Jeff : B
Ehhh. I mean, There was nothing that was necessarily bad… just expensive.
I booked the ‘Presidential Suite’ for that night because they said it was their nicest room (I had never been there before). It was old and dated and expensive $$$$$!
I know its supposed to be old and quaint but I was a little disappointed.
HOWEVER, after the wedding about 12 of my closes friends and DHA and I partied at the bar for about 2 hours and we tend to get pretty rowdy. No complaints on that end :)
So, all in all….Perfect. I tear up just thinking about it and knowing that it’s over. DH and I have been together over 10 years and I waited so long for this. I guess that adds to the fact of how absolutely special my day was.
