Hop Along To BUNNYBRIDES 4/14/07 WEDDING REVIEW! With NON PRO PICS and link to THAILAND HONEYMOON and PRO PICS!!!!
Our proofs should be in our hands within the next month or so! Until then, enjoy the review and pics from family and friends! FM if you have any questions about vendors
. Enjoy!!!Little-ish Vendors:
Macy’s @ Smith Haven Mall - B+
Bought my wedding day earrings and bracelet here without a problem. It’s always hard to find someone to help you in this store but once you do they are very helpful!
BridalPeople.com - Headband – A
I was having a very hard time finding a headpiece that I liked in stores so I hit the internet. I wanted something very simple. A headband, not a tiara and something that would look good with my short hair. I ordered my headpiece from bridalpeople.com after looking at a whole bunch of different sites. I was told that it would ship in a week and arrive in about two weeks. Two weeks after I ordered it still hadn’t shipped. I called them to ask what the delay was and spoke with a very nice manager who informed that they had recently sold their last one but that they were having the manufacturer make me another one special so they could honor my sale! I was so impressed with their service and when it arrived (about a month later) it was exactly what I wanted! I was very happy with the company and I love my headpiece!
Wrapwithus.com – Place Card Holders – A+
We ordered our seating place card holders from them. We decided on elephants because of our venue (more on that later) and because we are going to Thailand on our honeymoon. They shipped within a day and arrived quickly. We were shocked by how wonderful the quality was! Very heavy metal, really shiny and so darn cute!! We love them!
Broadway Famous - Linens – A
Our venue does not provide floor length linens for our reception so with FutureMrs’ (Amy’s) suggestion we went to Broadway Famous for our rental. We met with Nicole who was very sweet and rented a gorgeous cotton table cloth with a lovely silk over lay. They looked beautiful the day of and the service was hassle free.
CustomGlamGirl.com – Day Of Hoodie – A
Ordered my hoodie here and it arrived in about 3 weeks and in great condition. They used an American Apparel light weight hoodie and it was perfect for a spring day. Not too warm at all.
Save the Date Card’s, Specialty Drink and Dinner Menu’s– DIY – A+++++
Roy (DH) did these all by himself! I was so impressed with his work and would recommend him to anyone
! In all seriousness, I LOVED what he created for us and it was very personal. The sunflower on the cover of our STD was a pic of a flower we grew on our terrace the first summer we lived together! BeyondTheInvite.com – Invitations – A+
We decided to go with a more unusual invitation for a few reasons. We are having a rather small wedding and most invite vendors had minimums that we would not have been able to meet with our small-ish guest list. We wanted to do something that felt like us and considering we are pretty cheesy romantics we loved the scroll and flower petal idea. Roy did all the work on our invites and worked with the owner of Beyond the Invite, Christine, to make sure everything was perfect. Together, they did an AMAZING job and we had tons of compliments on our invites!
Victoria’s Secret @ 34th Street, Smith Haven Mall and .com – Naughty Bits – A
Bought my lingerie here and the service was great. No problems to report.
My Glass Slipper – A
Went to their store downtown in search of my wedding day shoes. I was originally looking for dyeables that I could dye green, which is my favorite color and matched my sister’s maid of honor and Roy’s niece’s dresses. I found the dyeable shoes very uncomfortable and tried on a few more pairs of other shoes. I fell in love with a cute pair of Grazia’s with a 3 ½ inch heel! I didn’t realize they were not dyeable until we started checking out. I ended up buying them anyway and I love them!
Coach Outlet – Woodbury Commons- MOH Gift – B
This place is a zoo but the prices are amazing! Bought the exact bag my sister wanted and it was half the price I would have paid in a “real” Coach Store. If you can handle the insane crowds, it’s worth it.
Bridal Suite of Centereach – MOH – B-
Our initial visit was easy and the lady who helped us was extremely accommodating. We chose a tea length hunter green Jordan gown with a funky bubble skirt. We expected the dress to arrive within a few months and when it did it arrived in the wrong color! For some reason the original order color was changed by someone in house with no explanation. They re-ordered the gown and it took another 2 months to come in. Thank God we ordered early and only needed the one!
Fantasia Bridal Center –MOB Dress – A
My mom ordered her gown here and she loves it! The staff was a bit hands off but that’s the way mom likes it. The dress arrived in a timely fashion and we were both happy with the service and price.
Rothmans – DH’s Tux – A
Roy decided that he wanted to buy instead of rent his tux, so we went to Rothmans on 16th Street. Roy had bought some suits and jackets here in the past and always received great service. He ended up buying a gorgeous Ted Baker tux for about $1,200 and it looks like a million on him. He loves it and so do I. I heart DH’s tux

The BIG Vendors!! –
Weather- Mother Nature – A++++
For the last 2 weeks before our wedding DH and I became obsessed with the weather forecast. It looked like it was going to be torrential rain and freezing! It really didn’t change until 2 days before when they were suddenly forecasting highs in the low 60’s and sun, with that nor’easter arriving on Sunday!! When I woke up the day of it was amazing! Not a cloud in the sky! They were calling for rain that evening but our luck was with us and it didn’t start raining until after we arrived home from the reception at about 1:00am! It would have been a great day even with the rain but the sun was definitely a welcome sight!
Movado – Brides Engagement and Wedding Rings – A
Roy and I did quite a bit of searching for the perfect engagement ring and had a really hard time at first finding something I liked. I wanted something that was very simple, almost architectural. I didn’t want a ring with prongs or pave diamonds so this eliminated 98% of what we saw. We were very close to going to an independent jeweler and having something made when we decided to check out the Movado store in SoHo. My ring was the first one I saw and I immediately knew it was the one! DH says the customer service was wonderful and even though it took slightly longer for the ring to be made then he had hoped it arrived in a timely fashion. My wedding ring is a very simple platinum band and we ended up getting a huge discount on it because we bought my e-ring there! I love them both and they look even better together then they did separately!!
Teno – Grooms Wedding Ring – A
They have a wonderful shop in SoHo on Prince Street. The staff is so helpful and the titanium jewelry very beautiful. We went with a titanium and platinum band for Roy and he loves it!
Carmella @ Happily Ever After-Hair/Makeup - A
I had originally gone for a hair and make up trial with someone here in the city and was very unhappy. I found Carmella through the vendor’s board and am so glad I did! She did exactly what I wanted and even improved on it! I had to have two hair trials with her because my hair was way to short to do anything with it the first time. She was great about scheduling another trial around my schedule. The day of she was running a bit late and called right at noon to let me know. She worked on my sister, my mom and my DH’s best woman for most of the afternoon! She has boundless energy, is so very talented and was great fun to be around! Our hair and makeup came out beautifully and I would recommend Carmella to anyone!
Wedding Atelier – The Dress! – A
Let me start off by saying I was very picky about my wedding dress. I wanted something unique that wasn’t poofy or strapless. I went into Wedding Atelier very skeptical and came out 1 hour later knowing I had found my dress! The customer service is wonderful and my dress, from a London designer named Suzanne Neville (LOOOVE her stuff!), came in plenty of time. My fittings were painless and fun. The shop is gorgeous and has a very zen like atmosphere. I’d recommend them to any bride who feels a bit nervous or apprehensive about dress shopping! I also ended up buying another pair of earrings here for the wedding day after determining that the ones from Macy’s weren’t fancy enough. They were a great price and very pretty! The only tiny problem I had was the day of when about half way through the reception my bustle strings broke. They snapped in half at the knot! I was dancing around like a mad woman and this is probably why it happened. No worries though! I just carried the train very “Edith Warton era” style for the rest of the night

Wedding Cakes Online / Food Attitude – A+
We were not looking to spend a fortune on a wedding cake because in our minds it was just a prop that you eat
! We found Wedding Cakes Online / Food Attitude from The Knot vendors site and decided to go in for a tasting. This bakery works a bit differently than most because you only have a choice of about 10 cakes designs and maybe 10 cake flavors. You can mix and match cake ingredients and colors but this place is not for the bride who dreams of designing her own perfect cake. We had our tasting with Vanessa who was wonderful and the cakes were AMAZING! So delish and moist. We originally ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, raspberry jam and fondant icing. A few months later we decided to switch flavors because we discovered our reception site was giving us the most amazing chocolate mousse as dessert! We had a second tasting and chose a light chocolate sponge with caramel mousse and caramelized pears instead. Our guests raved about the cake flavor and I’m happy to report our fondant was delish! Tasted just like marshmallows!
Katrina Parris Florist – A
I found Katrina Parris Florist while searching online. They have an excellent reputation and were quite a bit cheaper then many of the other florists we had looked into. Their show room in Harlem is like a lovely work space and there are people basically creating gorgeous arrangements right in front of you. We worked with Rochelle who is wonderful! No matter what the question or concern she returned my calls and emails so quickly! The day of our flowers arrived right on time and they were so beautiful and fresh! When we returned from our honeymoon my bouquet (which I had placed in the fridge, in water, upon leaving) was still in great condition and it was 2 weeks later!
Pastor April –Ceremony- A+
What can I say about Pastor April that hasn’t already been said?! She is as wonderful, warm, and smart and kind as every other reviewer on this site has mentioned. She helped create an amazingly heartfelt and personal ceremony that I’m sure we will remember forever. Our guests and family raved about how personal and romantic it was. A close friend of my parents said it was like watching someone get married in their living room! Exactly what we were hoping! We had a great time during our ceremony, giggling and enjoying what was an incredibly intense 20 min! It was perfect and we LOVED every second!
Dave @ Expressway Music-DJ – A+
Dave is so wonderful! Such a great guy, who really loves and knows a lot about music. We wanted someone who would just play the tunes and create a good mix without much chatter. We didn’t want or need an MC. He delivered on both. Only chatting when necessary and playing a fantastic mix of music. We were on the floor dancing all night with our guests! He did such a great job that my sister, who was very insistent about needing an MC, is now planning on using just him for her wedding in 2009!
Kelly Guenther Photography -Photojournalist – Pre wedding –A+ -Final grade-A++++++
Of all the things in our wedding, photography was the most important to us. We didn’t want a traditional wedding photographer, posed photos or candids masquerading as photojournalism. We found Kelly through a recommendation and we are so lucky we did! Kelly was a photographer for the NY Times and Associated Press. She won a Pulitzer Prize for a series of 9/11 photos and decided to go into wedding photography shortly after. She is so talented and such an incredibly good person. The day of she was right on time and snapping away all night. She was all over the place! Climbing on chairs, on the floor! She also some how managed to stay out of the way and we basically forgot she was there! She helped re-tie my bustle the first time it fell out and was armed with an array of wedding day emergency things including all her camera’s and film! She is just fabulous! We can’t wait to see our proofs!
ETA: Recieved our proofs and they are perfect! We couldn't have imagined more perfect photos. Kelly did an AMAZING job and we would reccomend her to anyone!

3 West Club, NYC – Ceremony / Reception Site – Pre-wedding- A- Day of – A+
We were originally booked at Candela for our reception when about 2 weeks before Christmas the owners called us, say they are going out of business and could not hold our reception anymore. I immediately came on NYC/LI Weddings and asked if anyone had any ideas. I was a mess. Many of you gave me some wonderful ideas and at the very least, support and over the internet hugs and prayers. I will be forever grateful for your kindness. Amy (FutureMrs) was one of the wonderful brides who suggested a place. Her own wedding venue actually! 3 West Club. I owe her a glass of champagne at the very least for this suggestion! We called the banquet manager Pilar who called us back from her own home at 9:30 at night! The site is housed in a gorgeous early 20th Century building that was built for the Woman’s National Republican Club. As lefty liberals, we found this very amusing! Our planning process was very smooth - although Pilar could be hard to reach at times - I felt that she always came back to us with clear answers and never denied any of our requests. Our wedding was on the smaller side (55 people) and there were no minimums we had to meet which was wonderful! This is usually not the case but because we booked so late the minimums were not an issue!
The day of the wedding was unbelievable! I couldn’t believe how amazing the service was! Pilar told us she ran a tight ship and it really showed! Roy and I always had a drink in our hands and the MD Maria came to us every time a course was served to make sure we were eating. Our guests raved over the food and I had a chance to taste everything and it was wonderful. The filet mignon was particularly excellent and that chocolate mousse was to die for! It was a truly amazing day and in some way I’m glad our original venue closed because I don’t think it could have been nearly this wonderful. I took the advice of the married ladies on here and tried to take everything in and enjoy the time with DH and our guests. The day went by so quickly and I’m going say it again ladies – Breathe. Stop. Watch. Listen. Breathe. Take it in. It will make that brief time slow down at the very least for a moment. We had an amazing day and I wish the same for all of you ladies

Thailand Honeymoon!!! – JW Marriott, Bangkok and The Sarojin, Khao Lak – A+++++
