Mini Review - - Larkfield Manor, wedding on 9-2-2007

I can't wait for my proofs to do a full review but just have to put in a few (ok more than a few) words to RAVE about Larkfield Manor.

My day was incredible: perfect weather, not too hot, not too cold and NO RAIN; a beautiful ceremony at Maria Regina performed by the Pastor, Fr. Peter and followed by an unbelievable reception at Larkfield.

So here's what I think of that gorgeous place and it's wonderful staff and scrumptious food:

Can we give them a rating of 100 not just a tiny 10?
Larkfield Manor was just incredible. There are not enough words in the English language to describe how fantastic my wedding was in large part due to the location and especially the staff. George and Harry are the sweetest 2 guys and Marianne the banquet manager is so easy to deal with, a sweetie too.
They added in extras for us with us only asking would it be possible, could we have . . and sometimes they were just really really nice and Marianne threw something in because she thought it would be nice for us to have!
Frank was the Maitre d' and he was on top of everything the entire night. But the place is run so well that he didn't really need to be on top of everything - - or at least he made it look easy. I received comments from my guests complimenting the staff on the excellent service they received.
And the food. Again, the guests could not believe the amount of food at the cocktail hour. Passed hot hors d'oeuvres, chaffing dishes with beef, chicken, veal. baby lamb chops, stuffed loin of pork and those are what I remember.
Shell steak was 1 of the entree choices. DH and his brother wondered about not having steak knives but you did not need them. The steak was so tender the butter knife was fine to use. The servers then came around with trays of all the entrees for you to select seconds if you wished!. With such a huge CH a few guests requested their meals to go, they were so full and Larkfield gladly accommodated these people.
The wedding cake was delicious, dense yellow cake with butter cream icing. I was impressed on how they served the cake. Since I have not been to any recent weddings this might be a new thing but the cake was served to each guest on a plate accompanied by a slice of ice cream drizzled with sauce. All the weddings I have attended have given you a slice of cake on a plate, nothing more. Here you were presented with cake that was dressed up for the occasion, so to speak. We also hade Viennese trays of cookies, pastries on the tables and a chocolate fountain.
The staff also packaged up some meals and desserts for DH and I to enjoy later. Now these are NICE, thoughtful people running Larkfield. In fact since the wedding in the larger room was cancelled shortly before the date, they moved my cocktail hour to the larger room which had access to a larger outdoor area since it was such a beautiful day. They did this because it would be nice for me and DH on our day. Nice people to work with and that is important on your wedding day.
Before we left for our honeymoon, several people called to thank us for inviting them and saying it was the best, THE BEST wedding they have attended.
In large part this was due to the Larkfield Manor location and it's owners and staff.
They make you feel like they really want you to use their facilities and will help you make your wedding the best day.
