My 10/11/08 Wedding! Miller Place Inn, Visual Concepts, Burtons, Good Clean Fun, Squirrels & More!

St Mary’s RC Church in East Islip: I can’t even give them a grade, b/c this is my home parish in which I am very active! Father Steve, our previous pastor, came back to perform our wedding mass, and we were so happy he did. I chose all non-traditional contemporary Christian music for the mass, performed by some of my good friends (Barbara Grace & some others!) and we got SO many compliments on the music and ceremony! I couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else.





The Miller Place Inn: A++++++++++ We were SO incredibly happy with our hall. Christopher, our BM, was so great to work with. They were so generous with us. When we went for our tasting I enjoyed the homemade ravioli so much that he offered to include this as an additional entrée on our menu! The food was SO good and SO abundant. The cake was beautiful and delicious, and we didn’t even upgrade! The full Viennese hour was awesome, but by that point I couldn’t even think of eating any food! The décor was beautiful, and they were incredibly attentive. I don’t think we could have asked for anything more in a hall. If you book with MPI, you will NOT be sorry.






Photographer: Visual Concepts A++++++++++++ We knew before booking with Visual Concepts that they were awesome b/c DH’s sister used them, and her album is beautiful. Debbie and Bob were awesome to work with, from booking to our epics to our day. They surprised us at the reception with a honeymoon album – 10 photos of us bound in a hard cover book! We were SO excited. The photos came out so awesome that we couldn’t wait to see our proofs! It made waiting very hard!!






Flowers by Burton: A-/B+ We chose Flowers by Burton b/c so many girls had a great experience with them, and their prices are amazing. We got so much for our money, and our centerpieces and church flowers were exactly what we wanted. I would have given them a higher score, but the color of the bridal bouquets was off (they roses were pink and I wanted orange/peach) and some of the petals were falling off even before we got to church. Also, they delivered the throw away bouquet to my house, and I had to carry it around all day. I thought it should have gone to the hall w/the centerpieces. Other than this, they were fine to work with.


Good Clean Fun Band & DJ: A- We booked with GCFB b/c we thought it would be great to have a band and DJ alternating sets. My only complaints w/the band were that they didn’t play my entire “must play” list, and I felt like they didn’t get people out there on the dance floor as much as they could have. Other than that, they were great and all of my guests really enjoyed them.

Limo: Tran Star Executive: A We didn’t have very far to drive, so I don’t know how to really go about grading them! They were punctual, attentive, and really nice. We had a champagne toast right after mass, which was great! The only reason I didn’t give them an A+ is b/c our town car was 20 min late picking us up at night and the driver didn’t help us carry our stuff to the car (we had the leftover cake, our card box, and a big box of extra favors as well as my bag of bride things) But the daytime limo drivers were great! We also used them as transportation to and from the airport for our honeymoon, and they were punctual and really nice. We’ll definitely use them again when we book future trips.

Bridal Gown/Bridal Veil: Bridal Suite of Bay shore: C. My mom and I went into the Bridal Suite of Bay Shore just to browse, and after trying on a ton of gowns I tried on the gown I eventually bought and really loved it. I also tried on my veil with it, and despite the price, we ended up ordering. They were super nice to us that day. Every other time that I had to deal with them after that day they were very unhelpful. They ordered my veil in the wrong color, and tried to blame it on me! They wouldn’t let me try on my gown again after the correct veil came in; they wanted to charge me to try it on! I was very disappointed with the customer service. I felt that they should have been more attentive to me, considering I had just dropped a ton of cash there! I ended up taking my gown elsewhere for alterations.

Bridesmaid/MOB gowns: Angel Bridals A++++++++++++++++++++ I’ve known Rosemary for years, and I should have gone to her for my gown to begin with, but I was dumb. Everyone at Angel is a pleasure to work with. I had one out of town bridesmaid, and they were able to accommodate her by doing some last minute alterations 2 days before the wedding! My mom found a gown off the rack that she loved, and they altered it from a size 24 to a size 14! They were AWESOME. I really can’t say enough nice things about everyone there. They made shopping for gowns and getting dreaded alterations a pleasure.





Programs: Eleven 18 Design Studio: A++++++++++ I gave Katie free reign over what to do with my programs, and she blew me AWAY. They were so beautiful and so unique. I had to be the biggest pain in the hiney, and I kept making changes to my program, and she was SO patient and accommodating. Awesome product, awesome customer service. I’d highly recommend her to everyone who will listen! Awesome.


Menus/Donation Favor announcement: A++++++++++++ My good friend Colleen (FutureMrsMultari) was a lifesaver. Her and her DH made these for me as a personal favor, and they were sooooo professional and awesome. They even met me illicitly in a Taco Bell parking lot to deliver the product. So hot.


Favors: I ordered my favor cookies, at the recommendation of DavenJess, from Splurge Bakery. They were awesome! I sent them 2 photos, one of my dog Maggie and one of the infamous Mima. They were adorable, delicious, and maybe my favorite part of my wedding! I’d highly recommend.


Placecards/Placecard holders: I ordered my placecards from JeanM and my placecard holders from www.squirrelstore.com. Both products were great!


My BMS - Kristy and Dana - the BESTEST - they attended to my each and every need and whim. Such good hoes.
