My 10/31/08 Brown and Pink Wedding! Featuring Thomas Paul, Giorgio's, Burtons, La Bon Boulangerie, Elegant Limo and After Hours Entertainment!

Before I begin I would just like to give a HUGE shout out to liweddings.com. I didn’t post a lot but I lurked frequently to get ideas and information. Without liweddings, I probably would have never come across some of my favorite vendors, and I certainly would not have been able to be as creative as I was when it came to DIY projects. Thanks to all the brides that posted their ideas and pictures. Those posts help make my wedding great!

On to the review:

Giorgio’s, Baiting Hollow, NY

Mark and I fell in love with Giorgio’s when we went there. We had attended a wedding there many years ago but had forgotten how nice it was. The place is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful,

the food is delicious. Before the wedding, I had a great experience with them. The week of the wedding however is another story. Several things ANGERED me on the day of the wedding, including the management being extremely rude and disrespectful to one of my other vendors, which was witnessed by my Maid of Honor. I am not going to sit here and type all the things that made me mad. If you want to know the details, PM me.

Thomas Paul Photography

Tom, Tony and Mike were not only very professional but also fun to be around! They were never intrusive, but they got all the shots that I asked for, and then some! I have no idea about the video, I will have to add that aspect of the review later on but I am sure it will be great. Tom was our favorite vendor and the one I trusted the most. I never felt like he was giving me a sales pitch about anything and I really appreciated that. Really, his pictures speak for themselves. Flowers by Burton

We decided early on that we did not have the $$ to go crazy with flowers. Burton’s gave us a great price and beautiful flowers. We had gone on several florist appointments and always felt like the florist was pushing us towards more expensive flowers and arrangements. Burton’s was the only place we went to that did not do that. They even threw in pew bows for free when I told them that the ones I had ordered from across the country had been made in the wrong color.

After Hours Entertainment
A+
Phil from After Hours is AWESOME!! He did such a great job, played everything on my must play list and never played group/line dances that were on my do not play list. This was important to Mark and I because we had been to several weddings where we knew that the bride and groom had requested no group/line dances, but then a guest would request one and the DJ would play it. Everyone we spoke with after the wedding said the same thing about Phil: He engaged the crowd enough for it to be fun but he never over-did it and he was never obnoxious, which you sometimes find at weddings.

Bridal Suite of Bay Shore
B+
For the most part, I was really pleased with Bridal Suite. I found my perfect dress there, it was not outrageously priced, and the staff there are all friendly and nice. I was not pleased with the hours that they will do alterations. My bridesmaids and I all work full time and the hours that they do alterations do not really accommodate that. I also had an issue with my dress being too big on the sides. It sort of puffed out a bit above the waist. When I questioned it, they told me that when it was pressed it would go away. That was not the case. It was a little upsetting because in certain pictures, I feel like I look like I have a thicker waist than I do. I blame myself for this though, I should have pressed the issue with them more.

Men’s Warehouse
A
We chose Men’s Warehouse because our guys could go to several different locations. We didn’t have any problems or complaints.

Elegant Limousine
A+
The only house vendor from Giorgio’s that I used. They were on time, the limo was beautiful and they even got us to Giorgio’s in time to take sunset pictures. They also had GREAT prices. We used them to go to and from the airport for our honeymoon also.

Hilton Garden Inn, Riverhead, NY
B+
This Hilton is brand new so it is very nice. We had our after party in the bar area which is really open and has lots of high tables with stools to accommodate lots of people. We also had our brunch there the next day. I thought that maybe ours was the first catered brunch they had done because I saw the woman from the sales office go in and take pictures. It was good but they had lots of problems with the omelet station that I had paid extra for. The guy kept burning everyone’s omelets! I felt that our price should have been reduced because of this, but they didn’t seem to care. Overall however, I liked the hotel. It is definitely the nicest one in that area.

Classic Transportation
A+
We used Classic for shuttles to and from the hotel. Beautiful mini-busses and on time. I have no complaints and they were a lot less expensive than other companies I called. Rosemary there is a sweetheart. She books all the wedding shuttles.

La Bonne Boulangerie- Port Jefferson

This is the bakery that provides cakes to Giorgio's, but Mark and I wanted something more than the standard cake so we worked with Corey on something simple yet fun. Everyone kept coming up to us asking where the cake was from and said it was the best cake they have ever had!

DIY
A+++++
I did a lot of DIY. I felt like it was adding a personal touch to the day and that the guests would appreciate it. The final DIY list:

Hoodies for myself and the girls

And finally I give the day and my marriage an A+++++!!! Despite some things going wrong, nothing could ruin the day for me and I will always look back on it fondly.
