LIW- A++++
I could't have done it without LIW and all of you ladies! I didnt grow up here and don't have any family here. I have only been to one other wedding in Long Island. I didn't know where to start and I am SO HAPPY I found this site! It has been more of an addiction for the last year! I got so many great ideas and learned so much from everyone. I got so many compliments on my wedding and was even told by quite a few people I should be a wedding planner. So compliments to all the inspiring LIWer's! Thank you for everything!

Weather- A++++
All I can say is WOW we lucked out! It rained almost the whole month of May, and the clouds parted for the whole Memorial Day Weekend! Our wedding was Friday night, and we had photos at OWG outside and and outdoor ceremony, so we were really praying for a nice day! AND WE GOT IT! That is one thing I had no control over and I couldn't be happier.

Okay, now I will start from the beginning. I do want to clarify that some of the photos I posted were taken by my amazing
photographer, Mariann from Blue Daisy. Some of the photographs were taken by me, my friends and my family.

Rings- A+

Color Scheme
I decided to go with Chocolate brown, Sage, and Ivory. I made a collage to see how everything will work together.

Save The Dates – DIY A+
I designed magnets and had them printed. Then I decided I wanted to doing something a little more. I used cardstock and cut it down to the size of the magnet and did a lot of crafty cutting and printing. The front says Save the Date, and the back has a cute poem I found on here. Then the magnet went on top of the poem and I tied it all together with a fun ribbon with a charm.

Magnet- I designed but had printed at Magnetstreet
Paper-Joanne Fabric
Paper- AC Moore
Ribbon- Joanne Fabric
Charms- Michaels
Grommets - My scrap booking friend Colleen! THANKS!!!

I also made postcards for some guests:

Invites- DIY A+
My co-worker and I designed the invites and had them printed letterpress at a place in CA for such a great price!!!

http://www.mercuriobrothers.com/letterpress

I got my silk invite pockets and they are gorgeous! They only took 3 days to get here!!! I bought silk ribbon in the garment district.

Kleinfelds- My wedding dress by Romona Keveza- A+

Wedding day, getting ready at the Homewood Suites:

Veil- Barrons Tri County- A
I brought a photo of me with my dress on and a veil I tried on at my fitting at Kleinfelds to the booth at Barron's. I gave them a swatch of my dress. They recreated the veil I liked for only $100. It was a detachable cathedral veil with a blusher. It took about a month to make. I would highly recommend them! They saved me about $700 if I bought it at Kleinfelds! It matched my dress perfectly!

Diamond Earrings- Fortunoff

RK Bridal- BM dresses – Jim Hjelm – A+
Jim Hjelm 5735 Mocha lace/Ivory satin/Mocha Skirt

Most places showed them as $280 and I found them online for $183, then RK matched it and knocked another 5% off, so the total was $173.85 or something like that. They match the shipping too, if you have them shipped to another state or something like that. I had 3 shipped to one house in Boston, and I just picked up the other two! RK had EXCELLENT customer service. I called them a few times to make sure they would match the price I found and made sure they got my fax. They were always a pleasure on the phone. I would highly recommend them! After going to so many other bridal stores looking for bridesmaid dresses and dealing with nasty sales girls, it was such a breath of fresh air to deal with the people at RK! I was almost in tears because it was so easy and they were so nice! Such a relief! Oh and I forgot to mention, I ordered them right before Christmas, and they said the dresses should come in about 3 months, well I had them by the end of January!!! They were so fast and I was skeptical about the quality since they came so fast, but when I went to pick them up I was completely reassured! They were gorgeous and 100% Authentic!

Earrings I bought them to match the dress (silver and smokey quartz)

Hair and Makeup-Mi a
Prior to wedding: A+++
Wedding Day: C

My trial with Mi a came out great. She tried out a few styles and worked with my makeup until we agreed on the colors. The trial flew by because we really hit it off and kept talking. I couldn't have been happier. See trial photos below.

Trial Picture:

Wedding Day:
I never thought I would have a problem with Nia since I had such a great experience with her prior to my wedding. I got all my girls together at the hotel, and I expected Nia to be there at 10:00 and she didn't show up. Her assistant got there around 11. Still no Nia. Then she calls me and I asked when she planned on getting there and she said 12:30, and I said, I thought you would be here at 10! She said I filled out the form saying the limo would pick me up at 3, so she didn't need to be there till 12:30. I said I would have never said that because that is the time I need TO BE AT OWG!!! So, she said well you filled the form out wrong then. I said I even emailed you this week saying see you at 10am. So anyway, she didnt get there till after 12:30, and didn't even sound like she was rushing to get here after realizing she was late. The limo was supposed to pick us up at 2:15, and they were even early. She didn't start working on my mom till 2!!! By this time I was really upset. There were a few things I wasn't happy with as far as my hair and makeup and she put white eye liner on me, which she didn't do on my trial, and I don't like how it looks in any of my photos! So, over all, I had a pretty rough morning. A lot of my girls weren't crazy about their hair and makeup either, until a 3rd girl showed up to help Nia. The girls that had her, really liked what she did. In the end most of my girls just got their hair curled and wore it down and had makeup and still paid the full price.

The next day I emailed Mi a the email I sent her earlier that week saying for her to be there at 10am and she never wrote me back. I hate to say anything bad about her because I really had a great experience with her prior to my wedding, but it is what it is. She sounded mad at ME on my wedding day like I told her the wrong time, and when I asked her well when will you be here now that it is already 11, she said, well I'll be there later. I couldnt believe she acted like that. I wouldn't be so upset if she said I will leave right now, sorry for the misunderstanding. But she acted like it was no big deal.

I was late to OWG and you know they are very strict with being on time! This whole thing threw off my whole morning!

Old Westbury Gardens- A+
Where do I begin . . . I knew I wanted photos at OWG immediately after I got engaged. OWG has such beautiful grounds and is the perfect backdrop for photographs. I felt like a celebrity when I was there. People were staring at us as we were being photographed. haha Again I have to mention that the weather was perfect! A little windy, but that just gave an extra effect for the photos. My veil was blowing all over!

DH and I were going to see eachother before the ceremony, so they set it up at OWG where he was facing the other way. I walked down the stairs and when everyone counted to 3, he turned and saw me for the first time. It was so special, and Im glad we did that since I was a little upset he would see me before the ceremony. Though the photos at OWG were completely worth it! Mariann from Blue Daisy captured everything so beautifully! I couldn't be happier.

The woman that chaperoned us was really nice too. I wish I could remember her name. She wasn't pushy at all, and since we were already running late do to hair and makeup going over, she let us go over our time limit just a tad. I had no concept of time, but we definitely got all the shots I wanted so Im happy!

Royalty Limos- A
We got a Hummer limo for the bridal party and a Excalibur for my parents and me. They were actually early, but we were running late, so they had to wait for us outside the hotel. They were really great to work with. Very patient! My limo driver did an awesome job of chatting with me to calm me down since we were running late to OWG, and we all know you can't be late there. Thank goodness the traffic wasn't bad yet! Especially on a Friday of Memorial Day weekend. They knew their way around OWG so I didn't have to worry about anything. He tried to get me there as fast as possible! I highly recommend them! OH, and I sipped champagne the whole ride from OWG to WCC! I needed it.

Woodbury Country Club Ceremony- A
We knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony at the same place as our reception. We had a lot of OOT guests and wanted to make it convenient for everyone, and we love how outdoor ceremony's look! So, part of our reason for picking WCC was the beautiful outdoor area for the ceremony and cocktail hour.

Luckily the weather was beautiful the day of our wedding. I couldn't have asked for a better ceremony! The only thing that bothered me (and this is being really picky) was that they taped the isle runner down with thick white tape. I thought it was a little tacky. They should have thick clear tape! I am going to Photoshop it out, and Im sure no one else really noticed it, but I did!

My Uncle married us. He flew in from Chicago. He did a great job and made the ceremony even more personal. It was beautiful!

Woodbury Country Club Cocktail Hour A+
Tons of food! Great food! Tiki Bar! Ice Luge! . . . Need I say more!!!

Woodbury Country Club Reception- A

Wedding Cake- Dortoni Bakery- B-
We decided to use the bakery our RH uses. A cake is included and you can choose one of the 5 or 6 they provide. If you want a different cake you only have to pay an upgrade fee. We decided we wanted to upgrade, and I found a photo of exactly what I wanted. We went to Dortoni's and talked to Rudy, who was really nice. We sampled a few fillings and cakes. We gave specific instructions, White cake with cannolli and hazelnut filling, ivory butter cream frosting and all ivory flowers cascading down the sides. We left the photo with them, and we paid our RH the upgrade fee.

The day of the wedding, my Bridal Attendant, Jessica, wanted to show me the cake before everyone came in. It was NOT even close to the picture I gave them. There was one single line of flowers going down the front of the cake. I cant even remember what color they were. I told her I upgraded my cake and paid a lot for it and left a picture. How could they bring this to me!!! She called someone and brought me to the bridal suite. She came in and told me someone from Dortoni's was coming right away to fix it. She showed up with a tool kit and got right to work. So, they wheeled the cake out of the RH before anyone saw it, and brought it back half way through the evening. NO one noticed it was gone. They found the photo of the cake I wanted and tried to fix it. The only thing is some of the flowers were yellow instead of ivory. It still looked way better than when I first saw it. Thats why I gave a B-. It caused me a lot of stress on my wedding day. I just couldnt believe they would bring that and think it was okay, after giving specific instructions. It still didn't look like what I wanted and paid for, they didn't give me any money back at the end of the night either. Oh well.

My guests however, didnt know there was anything wrong. They thought it looked gorgeous and tasted amazing. One person told me they never eat cake at weddings but had 3 slices of mine. So that made me feel better! I highly recommend cannoli and hazelnut. mmmmm

modeled after this photo I found online (I couldn't find a big photo of it):

Photographer – Mariann Szucs – Blue Daisy Weddings – A+++
I was very picky about who I wanted as our wedding Photographer. I went to school for Photography and am currently a Photo Editor for a magazine and do freelance photography on the side. I met with probably 5 or 6 photographers, and researched probably 30 photographers in the NY area. Mariann from Blue Daisy really stuck out. I loved her website and immediately set up an appointment to meet her. I really liked that she was not pushy and very down to earth. Her style of photography is exactly what I was looking for: candid, classic, great composition, and vibrant. I took another day to think about it, and called her back to book her.

Day of the wedding, She came right on the dot. She had a second photographer that stayed with the guys while they got ready. She met us at the hotel, and followed us to OWG to shoot more. Then drove to WCC for the rest of the night. She was extremely unobtrusive. It was like she wasn't there. She didn't try to run the show, only captured the moments as they happened. She almost left without eating, but I insisted she take her dinner with her if she didn't have time to eat it there. So someone at WCC wrapped it up for her and her second photographer.

The photos really speak for themselves. I am extremely happy I booked her.

Flowers: Designs By Rose – A-
Doris and Rose were sooo nice the whole time I was planning. They worked with my budget and made 2 sample centerpieces for me since I couldn't decide.

The reason I gave them an A- was because the day of my wedding I went to peak in the reception room to see my centerpieces and they were all on the wrong vase. They ended up using a really tall vase when the one I asked for was a lot lower. I was soooo upset because it didn't look like my vision. I also knew there wasn't a misunderstanding. They knew exactly what I wanted. They also wouldn't have just used those vases, they had to have had a reason. Don't get me wrong, everyone was commenting on the centerpieces and loved them. It just wasn't what I envisioned or agreed on.

I emailed them the day after my wedding to ask them what happened. They said they used the vases I wanted first but the flowers overpowered the vase and the vase was very unsteady with the centerpiece so they made the decision to change it.

Well the day of my wedding I was really upset about it, but when I started getting pictures back from my wedding and I took another look at the centerpieces, they actually look beautiful.

So I only gave an A-. Just because they weren't the vases I chose originally.

The bouquets were GORGEOUS!!! They also had the best prices out of the many florists I visited.

Ceremony Music - Capriccio Ensemble – A+
Natalie was so great to talk to. We didn't meet her before our wedding day, but we talked to her plenty of times on the phone. We hired a string trio to play at the ceremony & cocktail hour, and we got a lot of compliments! My Aunt is a professional viola player and even she thought they were amazing .

DJ- Vinny from High Voltage- A
I noticed there has been a lot of bad publicity about Vinny lately and I just want everyone to hear another side. We had a great experience with Vinny. His prices were great, he was down to earth, easy to talk to, and didn't try to sell us anything we didnt need. We just wanted good music that would get everyone on the dance floor and we wanted to add a Percussionist. We watched a video sample of him playing and Howie Bongo as the Percussionist and we new right then we were going to book them. We didn't talk to him again until about a month before the wedding when we decided to go over and see him. He helped us pick out our music and we told him what we wanted to hear.

The day of the wedding the music started out a little slow. I wasn't sure how things would turn out, but he played our Dave Matthews during dinner and then kicked up the dance music after. Everyone was on the dance floor. The only thing he didn't play on our list was the Electric Slide, but I'm fine with that. I told him to use it if no one was dancing, but the dance floor was bumping all night, so he probably decided not to play it. Overall I was happy!

Percussionist- Howie Bongo- A
Howie Bongo was awesome! We knew we wanted him the moment we saw him on the demo tape. He was a nice addition to the party, and everyone was talking about him the week after. They weren't sure how they would like him but after he started playing they thought it was one of the best parts of the wedding! He let DH and me play the drums too! I was a little upset because he didn't bring his bag of props, but it didn't affect the party at all. We wanted him to wear a huge white feather headdress, that we saw in another LIWers pics. Overall we were very happy!

DIY Placecards A
I bought the bells at Century Novelty online. They were very fast and the quality was good. I designed the cards in Illustrator and printed them on business card paper from Paper Presentation. The bells could have easily looked cheesy, but I think with the clean design of the cards they ended up looking exactly the way I wanted. They came out very elegant!

Customized Napkins- The Stationery Studio- A
I wanted something elegant, so I went with the embossed style. I like them so much I bought two different styles. They were very fast on shipping, and the quality was great!

Favors- Buffalo Wild Wing Sauce- A+

http://www.buffalowildwings.com/

Okay, so most of you might be wondering why we would give full bottles of Buffalo Wild Wing Sauce as our favors. lol Well, DH and I met almost 6 years ago at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Rochester NY across the street from our college. We met through a friend. It was a huge hang out for college kids. I wanted something sentimental yet useful. A lot of our guests also went to school with us and went to BWW's too. Especially on 10 cent Tuesdays!

I decided to write their corporate office through the Contact us link on their website. I explained our situation and asked if they could provide me with sample sized bottles for a bulk price since we just couldnt afford 180 normal priced bottles. I didn't expect a call back or anything, I just wanted to give it a shot. Well they called me back that night!!! The Rochester BWW manager called me and said they would work with us. I ended up getting 180 full size bottles, 4 different flavors:

Sweet BBQ
Medium
Caribbean Jerk
Mango Habanero

at a hugely discounted price! I was overwhelmed with happiness! As you can imagine, our guests were surprised when they got them and so excited that they got to choose which flavor they wanted. A lot of them came up to us after and reminisced about the times we all had in college at BWW!!!

They even sent us a plaque saying Congratulations! We got 4 huge boxes of sauce delivered and tucked away in one of the boxes was the personalized plaque. We weren't expecting it and it was so nice of them to make that for us!

Personalized ribbon for favors- Ebay A+
I found the ribbon on ebay- (seller philyselby)
I chose the colors I wanted and the delivery was very fast! I highly recommend this seller!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170185889597

The plaque they made us!

Caricature- Dimpleart.com- A
I got the idea from another LIWer about doing a caricature. I loved how her's came out and she used it on her card box. I ended up framing mine and put it on our seating card table.

They nailed how Mike looks. I don't think I look exactly like that, but whatever . . . it was still a nice touch.

I got the idea from LIWer: Camerakrazie:

DIY Hoodie- Tri County Flea Market- A
I bought the plain white hoodie at Old Navy and brought it to Stitch Art at Tri County. I picked out the shade of blue thread and the font and they got to work. It was ready in an hour!

Bridal Party Gifts A+++
I got the girls sterling silver earrings with smokey quartz stones. Pedicure kits from OPI and lotions from OPI. I also got them brown flip flops to wear at the reception. I also paid $50 toward their hair and makeup.

DH got the guys a POP drive that is a thumb drive and a bottle opener. Such a cool gift a and the guys loved them! He also got them an ipod shuffle in red with their names engraved on them.

Hotel Blocks for OOT guests: Executive Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton- A
We had a lot of OOT guests for our wedding. Pretty much all of my side were from out of town. I made sure to block rooms almost a year in advance.

Executive Inn: A
The Executive Inn gave me a great rate and provided a free shuttle to and from the wedding and any other local attractions, including the train. They also provided free breakfast every day. The rooms weren't anything special, but they were clean and did the job. Everyone that stayed there appreciated the free shuttle and the breakfast. Also it was less than a mile from the WCC.

Homewood Suites: A

http://www.homewoodsuiteslongisland.com/index.php

The Homewood Suites gave me an amazing rate compared to their normal rates. Unfortunately they do not provide a shuttle, but they did provide free breakfast everyday and free dinner Sun.- Thurs. The guests really appreciated that. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous and all of my guests raved about how nice the hotel was! Every room was a suite and had a full kitchen in it. The hotel also had an indoor pool and workout room. It was about 7-10 min. from the WCC.

The woman in charge of the group room discount also provided me with a Double Room Suite for my girls and me to get ready in on the day of our wedding at no cost since DH and I booked the Bridal Suite for that night. We needed the space so that was sooo perfect!

The Bridal Suite: A
Our room was gorgeous! The bed was so comfortable! The Bridal Suite was a corner room, so it was huge. Full kitchen! Our Best Man (DH's brother) left us a bottle of Dom Pérignon Champagne! It was so nice to go back to this room after our wedding! Breakfast in the morning was delicious! Waffles, eggs, bagels, etc. I highly recommend this hotel! Great rooms, great service, great experience!

DIY OOT Boxes- A+
This was such a great idea! I did a NY/ Long Island theme with lots of goodies and tourist info. The guests LOVED them! They also loved the little time line I put on the outside of the box. You wouldn't believe it, but all of this stuff fit in the box!

I bought the gable boxes at Buygiftbox.com:
Size: 9x6x6
Color: Fruit Toile
Price: .82 cents each, if you buy more than 24. I bought 30

I filled it with:
2 different kinds of Bluepoint beer (beer distributer)
1 water (costco)
Northfork chips
Nathan's original chips (costco)
black and white cookie (Stop and shop bakery)
Entenmanns' cookies (Stop and Shop)
gum (costco)

Tourist info:
NYC tourist info (57th and 5th)

Moana Lagoon & Motu Beach Picnic Tour, Marama Tours At Moorea Island

A wonderful day that offers a bit of everything - exploration, adventure, food, and relaxation! We fed sharks and rays. Next, we stopped on a motu
(islet) which surrounds the main islands and enjoyed a wonderful lunch with drinks. Here you see a great demonstration of coconut husking and see how to make the native dish - poisson cru or raw fish with coconut milk. Which I was the chosen one to make it and try it!!!

DH getting in the shark infested water. I was right after him!

Food from the picnic.

Sat. May 31, 2008
We rented a mo-ped and drove it around the entire island. It was so much fun. We saw amazing sites that we wouldnt have normally had a chance to see. We stopped all the time to go in the water.

Here are some pics we took on our trip around the island.

Unfortunately I burned my leg pretty bad on the muffler, here is a pic of it. I also had bug bites from the tiki village night. I didn't let either ruin my trip though. I didnt really have problems till my last day in Bora Bora when the blister broke and I started have bad pain. I went to the ER in NY when I got home, and they fixed me all up.

Our last night in Moorea was really relaxing. Our hotel throws a huge BBQ and tahitian show on the beach every Sat. So we made reservations. The BBQ was crazy! There was so much food and it was all sooo good!

Beautiful!! You did such a lovely job with everything. Save the Dates were really cute. Your invitations were so elegant. Your pictures are gorgeous...you're such a cute couple! I just love the picture of the cake cutting where you're licking his nose! I think you should frame it...it's just so cute!
