My 7/11 review...very long!
I can't believe I'm sitting here on my 2 week wedding anniverary! It went by so fast it doesn't even seem real. I guess when we get some pictures back it will start to hit me. Anyway..here is a basic review of the day as I remember...Hotel: Melville Marrriot ....A
The hotel is very nice and comfortable. My family ended up hanging out in the lobby for a good part of the time that we were there. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The only thing that annoyed me was that the welcome baskets my Mom made were never put into the rooms as we were told. The guests were given them when they checked in so they had to lug all their stuff and this big basket to their room. Not a big deal, but just a little detail that erkked me. I stayed there the night before with several bridesmaids in the executive suite which ended up being the perfect size for hair and makeup the followming morning. When DH and I returned to the hotel after the wedding there was champagne, flutes and chocolate waiting for us in our room.
Make Up: Jacqualine Nicole....A+++++
She rocks! She arrived at 4:30 am to begin working on everybody, including my mom and MIL. She did and amazing job on everybody. I had her airbrush all exposed body parts and it looked amazing with the white dress. It also helped to hide a few tan lines.
Hair: Kim (family friend) Pam (Bellisimo in Oakdale)...A+++
Kim worked on my hair and I was so happy. When I get some pics back I can show what she did. There loops and curls filling up the headpiece. Pam worked on 4 of the bridesmaids and did a great job. She came at 5:00 and did exactly what each girl wanted. She also worked very quickly so we were done on plenty of time. Both ladies came to the hotel which was a big help.
Dress: Bridal Suite of Patchogue....F (if I could go any lower I would!)
My dress ultimately came out beautifully; however there was a lot of stress and aggrevation involved. I won't even continue with this one because I don't want to dwell on bad thoughts. Loved my dress though!
Veil and headpiece: Fantasyland....A-
They were very busy when I bought both things so they kept bumping me to different sales people. I felt a little rushed but I got something I really liked. The veil and headpiece had to be ordered and they arrived quickly. The only thing was I had to ask them to put the veil on the comb...they neglected to tell me it came unattached. No big deal. They fixed it on the spot. My Mom was more annoyed than me.
Tuxedoes: Forrestos (Minoela)...A+
The guys looked great! We had several out of town people and everyone was able to call in their measurements and it all worked out.
Cermony and Reception: Milleridge Cottage...A++++++++++++++++++++++++
I cannot even put into words how fabulous the day went. Every detail we talked about was taken care of. There were only 2 things that were not perfect. Our maitre'd was Sam...he had a very rough start but redeemed himself after the ceremony. He was very flustered with regards to where people were going to sit and how I was going to get back to bridal suite. He actually suggested me going through the kitchen. My brother had to tell him to get the guests into the atrium and then I would walk up to the suite. Anyway...after we cleared all this up he was very attentive and clamed down. My bridal attendant was nowhere to be found all day. I had to ask who she was and then I maybe saw her twice if that. Other than that...the food was fantastic! We had surf and turf as a choice and that was a major hit. DH's brother drank just a enough so that he went into the kitchen and managed to get 3 extra tails for everyone at the groomsmen table. No extra charge! I still have people calling me telling me that our wedding was the best they had ever been to. My godfather even said it was better than his daughters. :)
Flowers: Milleridge Florist...A+
Chris and his crew did a wonderful job putting together my blue and yellow theme. My BQ was beautiful and the girl's flowers looked great against their dresses. They arrived just when we did so we had everything ready for pictures.
Officient: Rabbi Marsha Rappaport...A
I am still getting phone calls about her. She is a character who loves being at weddings. She made everyone relax and laugh and cry all at the same time. The ceremony was interfaith and she did a great job combining both of our faiths ( jewish and episcopalian). The only thing was that she kept telling the photographer to move because she was supposedly blocking people. The video should be interesting.
Music: Music by Michael...A+++++++
I can't sau enough about this guy. Michael is the perfect DJ for anyone who wants the nontypical DJ. He kept the music at a perfect sound level so that everyone could talk and still hear. He was not up in anyone's face to get them to dance. Michael met with us the week before and worked on a song list with us. That alone made me so excited for the day. He also played cermony and cocktail music for us. His prices are extremenly reasonable.
Favors: Milleridge Bakery...B
We had a mini loaf of cinnamon bread made for every guest. DH and I cannot get enough of the stuff! I bought the ribbon and made up labels for each loaf and was told that the Milleridge staff would take care of the wrapping. I guess I had envisioned what they would look like and the actual product was very different. They were put bags and tied on the side with the label haphazardly stuck on. The effect was not as eye leasing as I had hoped. The bread itself was yummy!
Photo/Video: Imagine Studios...A++++++++++
I love Lia and Nelson!! These two worked so hard. They always seemed to be in the right place at ther ight time. From the very moment my Mom and I arrived, Nelson was taking video footage. Lia immediately started taking pictures of the my dress and shoes. She knew exactly what shots to take without me asking. Dh and I saw each other before in order to get in some cocktail time. Lia and Nelson turned our moment into something I will never forget. DH and I were both crying. A lot of my guest came up to me saying that they were everywhere throughout the day, but not in an obnoxious way. I can't wait to get the pics and video back!
Limo: A Unique Rolls Ryce...A+
I had won a 3 hour ride at an LI Wedding get together so this was our getawat car. Sydney arrived just before the reception ended so that we could take pictues. The car was beautiful. It had a moon roof which was great for pictures. Sydney was very patient because we didn't get to leave right away so he waited for about an hour and a half. The ride back to the hotel was fun. Everyone waved to us on the LIE and honked. The ride was very comfortable. Definitely something to check out if you need a car. Also very roomy for those big poofy dresses.
Honeymoon: Sandals Grand St. Lucian...A++++
Wonderful! Fabulous! Amazing! Lovely! Do you think we loved it? It was the most relaxing vacation we have ever taken. The resort is paradise. For all those looking for a honeymoon spot check out the Sandals website. You'll find something...I promise.
Rings: ELSA...A+
DH got my engagement ring and matching band here and Stefan was wonderful. He has a way of making you feel like you are the only couple in the world getting married. He takes time to talk with you and see what you want. The day before I went back to have him clean all the rings and he sent me off with plenty of well wishes.
Well there you have it. I think I covered everything. I hope I haven't bored you to tears. When we get some pics I'll post some.
P.S. DH and I just bought our first new cdar together today. Very exciting! Just thought I'd share.

Hi,I am having my wedding reception at the snuff mill this summer and I am concerned about the size. Can you give me an idea of how many people you had and how they fit?
Thank you!
