I always had trouble understanding people when they would say that their wedding was the best day of their life. It’s not that I didn’t believe them or that I thought it was just ridiculous, I could just never imagine the feeling. Well when my wedding day came, it honestly and truly was the best day of my life. Despite getting sick during the reception, I was just so happy to be married and nothing could ruin it for me. Thank you Ron, Liz and Kim for all that this site does for Brides to be. LIW was responsible for so many aspects of my big day and it would have been a pretty dull wedding had it not been for all of the ideas and support I got from the boards!

Weather: A+
Columbus Day weekend has had a bit of history for still being nice, and thankfully I got a 70 degree day with nothing but sunshine! I couldn’t have asked for anything better!





Good Old Gold, Massapequa: A+
They helped make my dream ring affordable for my DH and it’s everything I could have ever dreamed of! They were great to work with and my Tacori wedding band was ordered through them also.












STDs: Magnetstreet.com: A
This is where I got the inspiration for a brown and pink wedding. They were easy to work with, and I could have gotten something similar elsewhere for a little bit cheaper but I was happy with the result.



Engagement party: Fireman’s Pavillion, Lindenhurst: A+
I didn’t feel the need for an engagement party, but my DH is Italian, so we went with it. The room was huge and dressed up nicely. There was SO MUCH FOOD and it was all delicious. Everyone had a great time!





DJ for Engagement party: Espo Entertainment B
This came as a recommendation for a reasonably priced DJ. Because I didn’t want anything fancy, they were very well priced and I went with the basics. They were there early to set up and people had a blast dancing, but I wasn’t a fan of the song selections. I had given a list but I guess the DJ thought he knew the crowd better. Not a huge deal overall, but I think overall it was nothing special.

My Dress: Bridal Suite of Centereach: A
I had a very good experience here. They were very patient as I was in and out for a couple of weeks trying on dresses. I never was pressured to buy, they allowed me to take pictures, and didn’t hide any information about the price or designer. I went to many salons but this one happened to have my dress at a great price. Alterations were easy (I just needed a bustle) but my bustle didn’t hold day of…I think that may be true for a number of brides…The dress is Moonlight Couture.












Veil, Tiara and clip: Attias Flea Market, Sayville: A+
Cheap, easy and exactly what I wanted!











Bridesmaid dresses: Village Bridal Babylon: B+
I was all for the girls getting completely different dresses but they kept gravitating to the same dresses, so we ended up going with two styles. The prices were good and the dresses came in on time. Only complaint came from some of the girls regarding alterations, and resistance if they wanted to pick up their dresses earlier. Dresses were gorgeous and so were my lovely ladies!









Flower girl dresses: David’s Bridal: A+
Good price and the girls looked ADORABLE!!!



Bridesmaid Gifts: Whitehall Jewelers: A+
I got these on clearance way before they were going out of business. They were super cheap and beautiful! I was so excited to get my girls real jewelry for the price of costume jewelry!



Tuxedo’s: Gino’s Tuxedo, Farmingdale: A+
Jen at Gino’s is great and everything was so simple. The guys looked handsome!










Invitations and Favor Ribbons: Galleria Favors, Farmingdale (a part of Gino’s Tuxedo) www.1800myfavors.com : A+
Again, Jen at Gino’s was great. I was planning on getting invites from one of the books at party city, but didn’t know how to go about it and exactly what I needed. A friend recommended Jen, so I went in and sat down with her. She was so patient in helping me find exactly what I wanted for the theme, in my price range. She helped make all the decisions regarding what I really needed to order and what I could do without. They came in fairly quickly and they were beautiful. She even put one together for me so I knew what to do, something I wouldn’t have gotten at Party City! Thanks Jen!





Favors for Engagement Party and Wedding: www.Pfatzgraff.com: A+++++
Like I said earlier, DH is Italian and it’s a tradition to give a “big” favor. I wanted something nice and impressive but (I seem to keep saying this ) DIDN’T WANT TO BREAK THE BANK. I had been browsing through tons of favor websites, when for whatever reason I thought about this store. I’ve always loved the stuff they have in the outlets and you cannot beat the price for the quality given. It just so happened that at the time I was looking they were having a huge warehouse clearance. They were extremely accommodating on the phone and were willing to work with my price wise since I ordered 58 platters and 88 chip and dip bowls. I was told the platters would come in boxes and didn’t, so they refunded me all of the shipping (which was a good chunk since it took up an entire UPS truck) to apologize and refund me for boxes I would have to purchase. Only 3 pieces were broken upon arrival and they immediately shipped out 5 more to cover those that broke and any others. I used the platters for my engagement party favor and they came out to be about $3 each in the end. The chip and dip bowls were my wedding favors and they came out to be about $4 each. They were one of the most accommodating and pleasant “vendors” of the whole experience!





Hair: Ana A+
Ana is about to move to a new salon, so when I have the new name I’ll update this part but my hair was perfect and it lasted all night. Ana is a sweetheart and she does a great job on hair. The new place will be in Bayshore. FM me if you would like the phone number.









Makeup: www.makeupbyerica.com, A+
Erica is MAC artist in the Smithhaven Mall, and such a nice person. I am so picky with my makeup but loved my trial and again she amazed me day of!





St. Joseph’s Church in Babylon: A+
They were very easy to work with and gave us a beautiful ceremony! I am a member of the church and sing in the choir and it made it even more special. It really was the perfect place!













Bubbles and Almonds, and almond flower holders: Oriental Trading A+++++
I don’t have any pictures of the favors wrapped, I think Duet thought the place cards were my favors but I ordered almonds and little flowers to put the almonds in from Oriental Trading at the time I ordered the bubbles. They are another company that is amazing to work with. In terms of the bubbles, the first batch they sent out had my name spelt incorrectly. I called them and asked them just to send new stickers. Instead, they sent new stickers and 3 more boxes of bubbles!!! Now I had 6 boxes of bubbles so I was able to share them with a LIW bride (Yay Wo0phsy). I thought it was so nice they let me keep them all and sent new ones. Also, in terms of the almonds, I had ordered them a long time before my wedding and when it came time to wrap the favors, I couldn’t find the almonds. I went out and purchased them from AC Moore, of course to come home after the honeymoon and find them. Since they weren’t cheap I decided to call Oriental Trading and see if they would let me return them. Since they’re an edible item they didn’t want them back but REFUNDED ME THE MONEY. So I still have 3 bags of Jordan Almonds and they gave me back the money. How amazing is that??????
It really was a nice cheaper alternative than going through the invitation company.



Dynasty Limousine: Babylon: A
Charlie was great to work with and really gave us an amazing deal. We wanted the limo bus so we could move around and wouldn’t feel squished. The bus was really nice and everyone was comfortable. My only complaint was that the radio didn’t work, other than that everything was perfect!









Argyle Park, Babylon: A+
I had originally wanted to go to the Arboretum in Oakdale but given Friday afternoon traffic at the merge on Sunrise, I decided to stay local. I was never a fan of the fountains at Argyle but I thought the view from the back of the lake was pretty. The Venetian was great for pictures but this gave us something a little different. And it was free!!!!!









Placecards, Programs, Menus and Table numbers: DIY
The place cards were my husbands idea entirely, and they came out really cute. Programs were easy to put together (thanks to ideas from LIW’s!!!) Menus and table numbers were something else I would have never done without LIW!!!!







Cake: Rolling Pin Bakery, Setauket: A++
I never met David in person, but he was very good over email. I LOVE cookies and cream and am not a fan of traditional fillings, so David made me a chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. I also am not a fan of fondant so he made me a cake without. I was sick the day of and couldn’t eat the cake, but I heard so many great things about it from all my guests. My family was obsessed with the cake. After hearing so much about it for a few weeks, I decided I deserved some of my own wedding cake before it was disgusting, and defrosted it early for a piece (or three) after two weeks of being frozen it was still DELICIOUS!!!! I keep wanted to defrost it again and save just a piece from the anniversary. If it can be good two weeks later it really must have been a great cake!



Flowers: Burtons, Melville:A
The flowers came out beautiful! I love the bouquets, and thought the centerpieces were okay( I asked for A LOT less green). There prices were great and the flowers held up nicely. All and all I was very pleased.
















DJ, Anthony, www.elitesounds.com: A+++++
I work with Anthony and have seen the job he does at many a school function. He’s energetic, got a great taste in music and knows how to keep a party going. He was so good to me, and worked different parts of the reception around how I was feeling. When thinking about wedding planning and DJ’s, I was convinced I wanted flat screen tv’s. However, Anthony has a huge projection screen that was a different touch and it looked awesome. He put together a beautiful montage for me and everyone thought it was really nice. All of my guests had a blast and I heard they all danced the night away. I can’t wait to see the video! Here’s a link to his pictures:

Venetian Yacht Club, Babylon: A++++++++++++++++++
I love the Venetian. Everything was perfect. Daisy was great to work with all the days leading up to the wedding. The cocktail hour looked perfect, ( I heard) the food was delicious and plentiful, the grounds and view were AMAZING, the room was perfect, FOOD and Viennese were AMAZING (I heard). I really had no complaints at all. I loved the downstairs room, though smaller than the upstairs room, it has access to the entire deck and they open up the doors for the Viennese so it’s back in the cocktail hour room and the dance floor can stay open. Lorraine was my bridal attendant and she was very helpful. They were perfect and all Venetian brides are lucky to be getting married there!

All of the pictures in this review are Duets, and I love them all! Being sick I was concerned about some of the pics but they really did a great job! TJ was my photographer and he was great to work with!
