My July 16, 2006 wedding

The majority of my wedding day I am lucky enough to say went perfectly with very few complaints by me. I think I put most of the vendors in. PLEASE feel free to FM with any questions. We are all here to help each other. There are some non professional pictures at the bottom.

Princess Bridals in Farmingdale B
My wedding dress was gorgeous and they actually went under a popular competitor’s price to gain my business which was very respectful. My bridesmaids and maid of honor all got their dresses here as well. My biggest complaint was the amount of time spent on the fittings. I had four fittings and during the last one a pin caught my inner thigh and I am pretty sure it is going to be a nasty scar there. Just a word of advice I have about this vendor is don’t lose your ticket with your order number on it. Memorize your number! Their system is antiquated and they are not computerized. They actually look through numerous receipts to find your number if you don’t know it to look up your order. The dresses were all amazing and I would definitely recommend them despite the few hiccups I encountered.

Code Bleu (Skyline Orchestras) A+
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sean, Donna, and the rest of Code Bleu. They were absolutely incredible! I felt like they were a part of our celebration and having as much fun as we were. Live music is so terrific if you can squeeze it into your budget. It was our splurge and I am so glad we did it. If you are looking for a band I highly recommend Code Bleu!!

Lindt in the Riverhead Outlets B+
We really didn’t want to make a big deal out of favors and we wanted them to be edible. Chocolate is my favorite! Chocolate in mid-July can be tricky but we pulled it off. Lindt’s prices were amazing and the presentation was simple but elegant. They put 8 chocolate truffles in a silver box with a ribbon around it. It was exactly what we were going for. They even stored our favors until the last minute so they could stay in air conditioning and not melt. The reason they didn’t get an A was because of a slight confusion. There was a woman there that was helping us from the beginning and assured us all would be okay. I called a few weeks before the wedding to check in and poof…she no longer worked there. Our favors were left slightly unfinished and at first they weren’t sure who I was. It all was okay within five minutes. Everything worked out perfectly before and after so no big deal. I would definitely recommend Lindt.

Flower Michele, Mineola A+
John as always was wonderful and everything was amazing. The bouquets were all breathtaking and they decorated the hall beautifully. I actually forgot to call them back in time to verify table numbers and John had already ordered the flowers. He allowed us to change the table numbers to one lower anyway without charging us for the extra table. Great businessman and gorgeous arrangements!

Harbor Club, Huntington Harbor A+
I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Harbor Club. Matthew, the BM was fantastic from the start. Donna, our Maitre D was on top of everything. Kara, my bridal attendant was constantly refilling our drinks as it was a really hot day. The entire staff was great, and the food was amazing. I definitely felt like a princess for a day and I enjoyed having all the staff at our wedding. I can go on forever but you get the point. VENDOR RAVE!!!

Royalty Limos, Franklin Square A
I was very pleased with the limos. We were soooo concerned because we originally reserved a Rolls Royce and it was going to be a very hot day. After being on this site and hearing how the air conditioning doesn’t always hold up, I was worried. They switched the car for us the week before to a more modern vehicle for no extra charge. They were early the day of, pleasant to be with, and everything was perfect.

ProLine Studios A
Our photographer, John, and his assistant, Michelle, were wonderful. After seeing our proofs, they really captured the day. We were all hot and taking pictures were a drag but they did what they had to do under the circumstances and dealt with my complaining. Our videographer did a wonderful job also and I never felt like he or the photographer was in my face all day. They were like part of the backdrop yet captured wonderful pictures.

Make Up by Lisa A+
Lisa is wonderful, I am not sure what else to say. This is the second time Lisa has done makeup for my mother and I. She had done all but one of my girls in the past before. We all love her. She is just so much fun to have around the morning of your wedding. I have really dark circles under my eyes and she did a great job covering them up. I kept complaining because I am not used to wearing make up but her assurance and professionalism made me realize that she made me look gorgeous!!! VENDOR RAVE!!!

Karen A
Karen did a wonderful job on my hair, my mom’s, and two of my girls that chose to get it done with her. She is patient, kind, and welcomes any constructive criticism to make her work better. She was a few minutes early to my house to get set up and fun to be with. I got sooo many compliments on my hair for the day. It held up the entire time and stayed off my neck.


VIP Tuxes, Commack/Massapequa A
VIP was great. My dad and brother had some problems with their tuxes and were encouraged to go to the VIP closest to them for their convenience. The matter was fixed within minutes and they brought their tuxes back to the same store. My DH couldn’t decide which vest he wanted to wear so they gave him two different ones so that he could choose the day of the wedding. They also gave him an extra shirt which came in handy since it was so hot. He changed before the reception. VIP was patient and extremely helpful.

Maria’s Bakery, Westbury A
This is the bakery that the Harbor Club uses. We went to visit them because we were doing a cupcake tier and we wanted to finalize some details. We met with Joe and he was very supportive of our ideas. We decided to build our own cupcake tier for him to put the cupcakes on. He did a wondeful job decorating the cupcakes on our creation.

Our Lady of Mercy Church, Hicksville NY B
I feel kind of guilty rating a church but it is what it is. I found it very difficult to get in touch with the priest but at the same time I loved him. Father Tom is so down to earth, funny, and caring. He did a wonderful job. I just felt that communication overall with the church in general and trying to get information was hard. I was also annoyed that I couldn’t throw down the artificial bird seed. We ended up doing bubbles. They were also doing construction to the exterior which I didn’t find out until the day before. The ceremony was beautiful though.

Mother Nature B-
It didn’t rain and the sun was shining bright. But it was HOT! I was very uncomfortable the entire day and my maid of honor even got burn a little on her arms. Taking pictures outside was unbearable. At one point I actually thought I was going to pass out. My slip was soaked (I know, too much information) but again, it didn’t rain so our pictures looked beautiful even though we were sooo overheated.

Barrons A
I got my veil from Barrons. Nothing much to say. Everything was in on time and perfect.

Sandy’s Shoes A
It was so hard to find the right shoe since I have trouble with my feet. I found it here and they ordered me my size and got it in very quickly. I never had to wear the ballet slippers.

Ballroom Dance Long Island A+
We were the couple that won four free private lessons with John from Ballroom Dance Long Island at the Wedding of the Year. He always treated us as if we were paying customers and gave us personalized attention. He even went to check out the Harbor Club to see how we could plan our choreography for our first dance. He was totally amazing and we learned a lot from him. We decided to do our first dance alone without everyone joining us because we got so confident. He didn’t even push us to purchase further lessons besides the free ones. Our first dance ended up being one of the most complimented events of the evening. I highly recommend John! VENDOR RAVE!!!

Congrats - I am glad your day was great - I don't remember the day being as hot as you did, but I do know that it was a very pretty day and I though of all the date twins!
