My July 26, 2008 wedding at the Miller Place Inn
This website has been such a pleasure to be a part of throughout the whole wedding planning process. Everyone on here is so willing to help each other out and it is a truly valuable resource. So thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has ever responded to my questions, or posted something that has helped me along the way!My mom and I had such a blast planning this together. We have always been very close and this whole process just made us even closer than ever! She made a lot of my decorations for the church (pew bows, arrangements, etc) and she could seriously do this for a living because not only did they look stunning, they were also inexpensively done!
Engagement Party – (catered tent party at my parent’s house)
Catered by “My Butcher” in Wading River, A+
We had also used them once before for my college graduation party, their food is amazing and our waitress Donna was excellent.
Shower: The Garden Grill, Smithtown A++
The room was beautiful enough, and my mom is so creative that she transformed the room into a Victorian dream. The favors were cute little music boxes that matched the room and she had my old American Girl doll on the table where the presents were which looked adorable! The food was very good and the cake was amazing!
Save the date photo magnets, by Save the Date Originals.com, A
They came as promised, and I worked with them until I got the design I wanted. They were also significantly cheaper than other photo magnet places, if you place a minimum order of 50 they are 50 cents each!

Wedding Dress – David’s Bridal, A
I knew I was going to go there for my bridesmaids dresses and ended up trying on wedding dresses when I went there because you can have a field day in that place. The third one I tried on was the one, it was a beautiful trumpet lace halter gown with a cathedral length veil attached to the nape of the neck. However, as most people know, Davids Bridal is a pain in the *** to deal with because they are always so busy and often times their salespeople are rude or unprofessional. My alterations came out perfect in the end, and they made the most beautiful bustle for my gown and cathedral veil so that I could dance with it on. The woman who handled my alterations went above and beyond and my gown looked beautiful.

Bridal Shoes – DSW, A+
They didn’t have a large bridal selection, but they did have a fabulous pair of ivory shoes that went perfectly with my dress and they were only $30.
Bridesmaids Dresses – David’s Bridal, A
I almost gave up on trying to find a bridesmaid dress there but really wanted to since I had out of town bridesmaids who couldn’t really afford to fly in for fittings. I checked back in the winter and they had just came out with a new color, “Terracotta.” It was gorgeous and came in the style dress everyone had originally liked. The style dress worked for everyone’s body type and was so comfortable and lightweight- perfect for a summer wedding.

BM Shoes – Zappos.com, A
None of my bridesmaids really wear heels and I was very concerned about everyone being comfortable so I got them 1inch heel gold sandals that they could use again if they wanted. You can’t go wrong with free overnight shipping either.
MOB Dress – Shoreham Bridal & Tuxedo, A
A bit pricey with the alterations, but the dress was so gorgeous (Jade by Jasmine) I had to force my mom since she never likes spending a lot of money on herself. If there was one thing I wanted to guarantee at my wedding, it was that my mom was going to look just as stunning as I did!
MOG Dress – Fantasia Bridal, C
This place practically gave my MIL a heart attack. It took forever for her dress to come in, and at one point they said it was lost and starting giving her the run-around when it was only three weeks until the wedding!! Luckily they found it and she was able to get her dress in time. It was a nice dress and she got a great deal, but so not worth the aggravation.
Three Village Church, A+
This is a beautiful church in East Setauket that I happened to find driving by one day. We went to a service and the moment we stepped in we knew this was the place where we wanted our ceremony. The church staff was so friendly and they provide you with a church wedding coordinator (Brenda) which was EXTREMELY helpful! She made everything run smoothly and helped with so many things. She also did the last of the decorations for us the day of and it came out beautiful. Right across the street is a beautiful spot for pictures a lake with a bridge and weeping willow trees on either side – it’s a breathtaking spot and so convenient to get to.

Miller Place Inn, A++++
Chris, the Banquet Manager, is a true professional and such a pleasure to work with. He gave us an amazing deal and was always willing to accommodate any requests. He knows how to run a catering hall like a well oiled machine and everything exceeded our expectations. Our tables were done beautifully and they had even added extra votive candles of their own in addition to the ones I brought. When we arrived in the limo he came outside with the bridal attendant to greet us with champagne and strawberries. You can’t get that type of personal attention anywhere else. My bridal attendant, Rose, was a sweetheart. She was so attentive and everyone loved her. The food was outstanding, everyone couldn’t believe how huge the cocktail hour was, and the meal that followed. The Viennese hour was out of control, and everyone looked like kids in a candy store! People are still calling my parents to tell them it was the best wedding they have ever been too. Totally made up for the crappy ceremony.

Cake: Rolling Pin Bakery, East Setauket A+++
You don’t actually sit down and get to sample the cakes with the baker, but they do make as many samples as you want and you can take them home with you. You also email your pictures and colors you want to the baker, David and he was always timely in responding and giving his input. When we picked up the samples they made it as far as the parking lot as we devoured them in the car, LOL they were all so delicious – we picked the yellow cake with raspberry mousse filling and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! So delicious I would order it as birthday cake just to be able to taste it again.
IV Generation DJ, A+++
MC Frank, DJ Tom, Percussionist (name unknown, sorry!)
Frank was amazing, he had everyone pumped for our introductions and they were so much fun! The dance floor was packed the whole night and the percussionist (who is very talented) let us play on the drums which made for great pictures! Frank also knew everyone’s names by heart which was a nice touch. From start to finish it was a class act. The whole success of the evening in large part was due to him and how great the service/staff was at the Miller Place Inn.
(us doing some old school dance moves)

Photography: TWC, Fritz A so far
We booked with Rich in the photography department. He was always friendly and willing to accommodate our requests. We needed to change our package at the last minute and he accommodated that with no questions asked. Fritz, our photographer, was very professional and patient and set up some great shots. Unfortunately he rushed out before we could give him a tip at the end of the night! So, it had to be sent to him. I’ll give him an A for being nice and easy to work with, but don’t know how the photos came out yet.
Flowers: Miller Place Stop n’ Shop, A++
Ladies, I would have never imagined that I would get my wedding flowers done at a supermarket but after seeing the quality and working with Doris, we saved thousands of dollars and they looked amazing. We probably would have paid $3000 anywhere else between all the bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, etc and we paid just under $900 for it all. All I had to do was provide the type of vase I wanted for the centerpieces, which I was able to get cheap from flowersandsupplies.com – they came out stunning. My bouquet was so beautiful and antique looking – totally matched the style of my dress. We also didn’t know how the bridesmaids bouquets would match since there are so many types of peaches, but they came out perfect and looked gorgeous.

Mayfair Limo, C+
The driver’s name was Tony and he had an attitude. We felt rushed at our picture locations as if we were a bunch of prom couples. However he did show up on time and got us where we needed to be on time. He could have been a little nicer.
Tuxes – Black Tie Tuxedo of Smithtown, A
The tuxes were ready to be picked up the day before the wedding as promised (which had me a little jarred) but everyone’s fit perfectly and they looked great.
Hair and Makeup: Axios Salon and Spa, Smithaven Mall, A+
My stylist’s name was Dimitra and she did an amazing job. My hair cascaded in curls over my veil and it looked perfect with my dress. I forget my makeup artist’s name but she did a great job too and that was a leap of faith because I didn’t have a trial first (I know that’s crazy but it was a last minute decision after deciding not to do it myself)
BM gifts – tote bags in BM dress color (on sale at Aeropostale.com for $5 each and they were so cute!) with flip flops, day of jewelry , oil blotting wipes and lip gloss. Everyone loved the bags. I got one for myself and the MOB and MOG too!
Things Remembered, A+
Groom’s gifts – large engraved beer mugs. Last minute on the groom’s part but they looked nice and everyone liked them.
Parent’s gifts – an engraved pocket watch for my dad and an engraved jewelry box with necklace for my mom. They came out beautifully and everything we ordered was done either that night or ready the next morning.
Favors: Wrapwithus.com, A+

I got glass coffee mugs that have the “LOVE” monogram on them with our wedding date. We could have had our names on their but I didn’t want people to have to stare at our names every time they use the mug. We put them in beautifully embossed boxes (the filigree pattern happened to match the pattern on the invitation – I had a lot of those types of happy matching accidents with things) and we put the same type of lace ribbon around them as we did the invitations with our monogram in the middle.
I also got my cardbox, cake cutter/server, pew bow clips, garter, mints, and guest books from this place. Everything always came overnight or in 2 days because they are based in Syosset and I live 30 min from there, so that was a perk!
Monogram: Myownlables.com , A+
They had as close a color as I could get to my BM gowns and they came out beautifully and did not take too long.
Invitations: Ann’s Bridal Bargains, A+
They came out perfect and we embellished them with a cute lace edged band around the invitation with a flower with pearls on it in the middle that we bought from Michaels.
Hotel: Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook, A+
I stayed in a regular room the night before with my mom (my house was packed with OOT relatives) and then the three room suite for our wedding night. It was a gorgeous room with a gigantic sleigh bed and it had a private Jacuzzi room set off aside from the bathroom. My maid of honor and friends left before us at the wedding so they could make a little rose petal path leading up through the French doors into the bedroom and on the bed and set up champagne! It looked so beautiful!
Despite the mishap with the actual ceremony, everything was still beautiful and it was the most amazing night of my life. People are still calling my parents to tell them it was the best wedding they have ever been to!
