My June 12th Wedding Review !!

OK - I reallllyy lucked out on the weather - go Mother Nature!!! Saturday, June 12th was a balmy 78 degrees and even in my light organza dress I was warm. I encountered very few hitches and the ones we had were relatively minor and no one but myself or my mom noticed. Anyway...

Hair & Makeup- Self-Image in Amityville - A+ -I've been going there for haircuts since I was a kid and Michelle, who did my hair, knows exactly what I like and was totally open to suggestions. My hair did come loose a bit at the beach, but it still looked great, and when I took off the veil my hair looked even better. Makeup for the BMs and myself were done by their in-house makeup artists Andrea and Nicole - both made the BMs and I look picutre perfect and it stayed all night.

Dress - Kleinfelds - B- : Overall they are excellent, but trying to pick up the dress and schedule fittings was inconvenient sometimes -I scheduled my final fitting and final pick up to be done the same day, (2 days before the wedding) as I was told barring any major adjust ments, steaming wouldn't take more than an hour to an hour and a half. When I went in they made no final adjustments, and then told me to come back another day to pick it up, as it would take at least 2& 1/2 hours to be pressed and ready to go. it was 2:30 in the afternoon, and I still had go back to Amityville for a family gathering - I was not coming back - needless to say we waited and actually did not receive the dress until 5:40. I know they're busy and all, but I would've appreciated an honest idea of how long it would take and I wouldn't have scheduled my final fitting and pickup on the same day.

Dress - Judd Waddell - A: Beautiful and flattering - I didn't think I liked it much when I picked it up, but when I wore it on my wedding day it looked stunning on me - I wish I could wear it again. I got the matching veil, but I did NOT like it and it came off before I got to the reception.

Church - St. Martin of Tours,Amityville - C: I grew up in Amityville, went to St. Martin's Catholic grammar school..if I was going to do the Church wedding - it had to be here. What I didn't count on was the lack of communication and organization and just plain ridiculous stonewalling that went on - and the priest who married us never returned calls to answer questions or to clarify things that were required. The only redeeming person was Deacon Ferri who made things simple and fun.

Limos - Barton Limos, Lindenhurst - A+ - They were clean, early and affordable. They showed up a half hour early to pick all of us up at my parents' house and I was afraid they would charge us for it since we only ordered the limo from 3-6, but they didn't, and all of the drivers were friendly and helpful and knew exactly where to go. Yay!!

Photographer/Videographer - Jessica Photography - A (so far) - We just got our proofs on Saturday - I can't believe how quick the turnaround was!!! That was the best part!!! He was great the day of the wedding, never impatient with straggling relatives, kept things running so smooth we had PLENTY of time to take great beach pictures AND get tothe cocktail hour and take pictures with DH's family. Very professional, and the videographer (I think his name was Steve, but I'm at a loss right now) was barely visible..I'm really happy with they're work so far.

DJ - TGIF - A: I was kinda nervous about using a DJ - I didn't want my wedding to be about the Electric Slide or the Macarena, and I expressed that to Frank, one of the owners. And I didn't want lights or giveaways - just good music - and they fulfilled their end of the bargain. They started off kinda rowdy with the introductions, but once the crowd loosened up the DJ and the MC played fun crowd pleasers with out being cheesy - and they played ALL my songs. I highly recommend them.

Reception - Timber Point - Great River - B-: I loved Timber Point the day I set eyes on it - and I still do. On the day of my wedding, the food was great, the cake was great, the setting beautiful - the Maitre D' (Steve), however, had an attitude problem the size of Montana. I know others who used Timber Point thought Steve was great, but he was off his game that day, and the way he handled certain things (FM me for details) were less than professional, but we made a complaint to Ben, and it wasn't like he completely ruined ur wedding, so all's well that ends well. Everything else, though, was great.

Honeymoon - St Maarten, Dutch West Indies - Maho Resort -B: Thumbs up for being right on the beach, but other than that, the food was dismal, and the service lacking, and we were far away from everything but the airport (which was right next door - a little noisy, but fun to watch the planes as they land). But we got great tans and got to rest, which was desperately needed.

All in all things went off without a hitch, and I'm thrilled to pieces that I'm married and I do not have to plan another blessed thing. Yay!!
