My wedding Review!! 10/13/07 *UPDATED with info on our wedding dvd!!* Crest Hollow, In the Mood DJ, Treasured Memories Video, Heather Barr Photography, Sir Oliver, Pedestals & MORE

Let me start off by saying that we had the best day ever! Everything went off without a hitch.

The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. Gotta love October!!

Hilton Garden Inn – Westbury “D”
We had blocked rooms for our OOT guests here a while back. The person we worked with was fantastic but left after we signed our contract. We ended up having some trouble with them over a free room DH and I were supposed to get. A big hassle…..one employee (pretty sure she was the sales manager) even told DH “Shouldn’t you be worrying about other things for your wedding instead of a free room?”

Wouldn’t recommend them based on that comment and crappy customer service alone.

Crest Hollow Country Club “A-”
I’m giving Crest Hollow a “A-” just because during the planning we had to go through some aggravation that could have been prevented. We had a BM that wasn’t really on the same page as us. Once we switched BM’s everything was great.
Mitchell was our new BM and took care of everything. There was an issue about the cake that the former BM couldn’t take care of. He did it in one meeting and assured me it would be fine and it was.

Our wedding day was perfect. The staff was so courteous and helpful. Marina was our bridal attendant and made sure we had everything we needed all night.

Bob was the maitre’ d and did a great job. Everything ran so smoothly. The room was set up exactly how we wanted it and all the DIY touches we had done were set up exactly how we wanted them. (sometimes even better than I had imagined!)

Cocktail hour was SO good. Everyone was walking around with full plates and full glasses. The room was beautiful (although I can’t remember the name of it), the food was great and everyone enjoyed it.

The plaza room was phenomenal. We had the lights and the tulle from the ceiling. What a nice touch it adds.

Our dinners were so good! I had the chicken with spinach and cheese…YUMMY!! DH had the prime rib. We received so many compliments on how good the food was.

The grounds of CH are also beautiful. We got lots of pictures outside and the grounds add so much to them.

We truly enjoyed ourselves and are still receiving compliments on what a great time everyone had.

Pedestals Florist “A+”
I cannot say enough great things about Nadia and Pedestals. From the first time we met her she took my vision and ran with it. We wanted a fall themed wedding and she delivered! (and gave us a great price)

Our centerpieces were real pumpkins hallowed out with an arrangement inside it. They were stunning! When DH and I walked into the room we were speechless. I couldn’t have imagined them more beautiful.

The moment the bouquets arrived to my house was when I finally realized that I was getting married. All of the colors of the bouquets were awesome.

My bouquet was GORGEOUS! And heavy!! There were so many stems! I loved it! I really love how they came out in the pictures.
I would highly recommend Pedestals!

Mya from Cosmetic Artistry “A”
Mya has to be one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. She does such a fantastic job and really wants to be sure that you’re happy.
She did a friend of mine’s wedding back in Feb and did such a great job with all of our hair and make-up I knew I would use her for our wedding.
I went to a trial for my hair and she took her time, we made adjustments and that was it. She nailed what I wanted right away.

The wedding day she was on time and got right to work. We were all done in about 3 hours (6 of us….full hair and make-up)
My hair stayed in ALL night and my make-up looked great.

Heather Barr Photography “A+”
Heather is a family friend who lives and works in MA. She had taken some family portraits for us a couple of years ago and my whole family was in love.

I asked Heather to do the wedding and she agreed. She came down from MA and spent the weekend.

We received an email 3 weeks from the day that our on-line gallery was up and open for viewing.
AMAZING. That’s really all I can say. She was all over the place snapping away! We had over 800 pictures to look at!

The best part is we can forward the link to all of our family and friends and they can go and look and order straight from Heather’s website.
If any of you girls move or live in MA – look Heather up!!

Sir Oliver Limos “A+”
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Sir Oliver came with great reviews and they delivered.

All the drivers were early for their pick-ups so there was no rush with us getting anywhere.

The drivers (Joe was my driver) were so pleasant and helpful. Just a bunch of really nice guys.

The price was what we were looking for and the service was outstanding.

Treasured Memories Video “A”
I’m giving Treasured Memories and “A” without even seeing the video because Tim and Lee Ann are 2 of the nicest people you ever want to meet. From the first time we met them it was like talking to old friends.

You can see how important it is to both of them that the customer gets the video and the memories they will love forever.

Tim was with me and the girls the morning of and Dave was with DH and the guys. We all had such a great time. They had us laughing all day!
If anyone is still looking for a videographer you have to check out Treasured Memories!!

UPDATE! We got our video and it is AWESOME! I can't even begin to describe how much we love it. (And how badly I can't wait to watch it again!!!) We went back after returning from out honeymoon and did some 'voice-over' stuff. We talked about the day and Tim and Dave edited into the video so it's like we're narrating the whole thing.

The 'extras' on the dvd are great too. I can't even express in words how much I love it!!

In the Mood DJ “A”
The crew from In the Mood was so good! They had everyone up and dancing the WHOLE night! The songs they played, the transitions between songs and the timing of the songs was flawless.

Everyone really enjoyed the sideshow in the beginning of the night as well as the Zap shots being played throughout.

Dennis and the guys would be my choice if we have another big bash!

Davids Bridal “C”
Some of my BM’s and I went dress shopping at David’s just to get started. Well, I ended up finding my dress there. As soon as I put it on I knew it was the one.

Marie was the person helping me out. She was great that first night pulling different dresses for me and showing me some different styles.

I made an appointment to go back and show my mom the dress. The desk person who took the appointment apparently never told Marie that she had the appointment because she was out to lunch when we got there. We waited 30 minutes before someone else finally came over to help us. (this after the girl at the register had me on the verge of tears b/c she was so rude)

We ordered the dress and everything was fine.

Fast forward to my first fitting – turns out they had ordered the wrong size dress. Yup – I had to go back and exchange (I was ready for a fight but it wasn’t a problem at all and the new dress was in about 2 weeks later)

David’s has some beautiful dresses and great prices but may not be worth the hassle of their lacking customer service.

Bridal Elegance “B”
Phyllis and the staff at BE are very helpful but are so busy! They are always jam packed with appointments and it’s sometimes hard to find something for follow-ups.

She did a good job with the alterations on my dress (although I still think the hem was a little short) and my girls dresses were cheaper than anywhere else we looked.


Men’s Wearhouse “B”
After checking out a few places for tuxes we decided to try Men’s Wearhouse. Their service is not good. They have you wait, it never seems they have enough staff. One store actually told my dad when he took my 10 year old nephew to get fitted that they couldn’t get him a tux. He was larger than the boys Large and smaller than the mens Small. My dad called me and I asked him to go to a different store and they had no problem making the adjustments needed to fit him.

Aside from the service the tuxes were nice and were all ready when they said they were going to be ready. (and we had them ordered and picked up at stores in 3 different states)

We liked the color selection and patterns the best out of all the other places we had been. The guys looked great I just wish the service could have been better.

Your review was excellent. I'm also getting married at the Crest Hollow this coming July, and I must say that I'm a bit dissapointed in my BM as well. I wanted to change my BM just because she's really hard to get in touch with and she takes her sweet time returning phone calls. She was really nice prior to us booking with Crest Hollow, but I felt that after she got our business she didn't feel the need to work as hard as she first did to satisfy our needs.Whenever I called, she always make it seem as if she's busy but she's doing a favor by even speaking to me, and that's not something I deserve when I'm paying thousands of dollars for service. If you can FM me, and let me know who you would recommend as a BM, I would greatly greatly greatly appreciate it.

I've also requested to see pictures of cakes and styles they provided since the cake was included in the wedding package, but I have yet to get a reply from my BM with that. Can you please provide a picture of your cake-- or at least describe it?

I'm also using the same Limo service as you, so I'm excited to hear they did a great job!!! Thank you so much for sharing your special day with us. I didn't know we had the choice of changing our BM and now I do....thanks!!!
