My Wedding Review - 7/11/09 - East Wind Caterers, Twelfth Night Photography, Pedestals Florist, Renegade, Kleinfeld, Rolling Pin Bakery, JPI Films, Blackwell's, Desmond's, NY Marriages, Linen Creation

Our wedding day was all I ever hoped for. I am so thankful to everyone who made that possible, especially my parents. They get an A+++++++++++++++++++++++!!!

The Inn & Spa at East Wind (Reception) - A+++++++++
Our Maitre D' Scott was AMAZING. He made sure that everything ran smoothly the entire time. He even took down all the hanging plants in the garden aisle because I didn't like the color of the flowers and I thought there was too much going on. The result was the beautiful, clean-looking garden wedding I always dreamed of! Everyone also raved about the food at East Wind. The dinner was spectacular... they brought my husband and I a plate with EVERY option for dinner! So we got to try it all! The cocktail hour we heard was also fabulous. The bartenders made our signature martini drinks all night as well. The Viennese hour was out of control! With a chocolate fountain and more desserts than I could even name, the guests were floored! My bridal attendant asked if there were any desserts I wanted, so I told her I'd like to try an Italian jelly cake cookie. She brought me about 15! The whole night was absolutely amazing.

The Inn & Spa at East Wind (Hotel) - B+
They followed through in the end, but getting all the rooms booked was a hassle for many of my guests coming from out of town. They kept 'running out of rooms' when we had tons open in our block If you book here, you'll want to tell your guests to book early and to say they need to be in your block. It was a little frustrating. The rooms were beautiful though.

The Inn & Spa at East Wind (Spa) - A
My sister-in-law & bridesmaid arranged a spa day for all of us in the bridal party for the day before the wedding. We had massages, got our nails done, and had a light lunch at Desmond's. The massages were really good, as were the pedicures. Everyone seemed happy with their nails... except me! There was a chemical reaction to the ingredients she used and the fluorescent light dryer. So every time I stuck my hands in, I had to feel like my nails were in flames for about 5 seconds. Then it took a while for her to file them correctly so they looked natural. In the end, they were beautiful. But they only lasted about a day after the wedding. Another thing to think about with Spa day is to schedule the lunch at a certain time and all agree to break at that time. We didn't eat until dinner time! We were starving!

Hair and make-up were fabulous the day of the wedding! I don't remember my hair dresser's name, but she has long red hair. She did an excellent job and made me feel so comfortable. I even changed my mind from the hair trial and she was able to still make it perfect. My make-up trial was actually horrible, so I emailed Desiree to ask for a different person. She was fine with that, and the woman did a great job!

LI Paramount - Renegade (Band) - A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I can't say enough about this band. They MADE our wedding! In every picture people are on the dance floor singing and dancing. David Clark is an amazing vocalist and so much fun! Not only did he take all of our requests from the song list, but he read the crowd so well that he kept picking the perfect songs for us! He also interacted with us the whole time. He let my good friend sing my grandparents' wedding song 'Always' for their 60th anniversary, which was beautiful. They even let my husband get on the cowbell for a song or two! I would recommend them to ANYONE!

Twelfth Night Photography - A++++++++++++++++++++
We just received our wedding proofs with a disc of jpegs and we are SO happy! It did take a while, but we knew that going in, so were not disappointed at all. Dom is the best at what he does. The day of the wedding I was feeling so sick that I was chugging a bottle of Mylanta while getting my make-up done. The very first picture in our proofs? Me chugging Mylanta! It is one of my favorites! He made me feel so comfortable the entire time. He even knew that my smile looked fake sometimes and was able to get me to laugh naturally to make for better pictures. The quality of the pics is absolutely amazing.

Pedestals Florist - C
I'm sad to say that I think I got the WRONG person to help me at Pedestals. From day one, I knew Phyllis and I were not a great match. She was a little pushy with things and I knew exactly what I wanted. Every time I told her I didn't like something she would try to convince me otherwise. In the end, she convinced us to go way higher in price on our centerpieces and showed me a sample that was gorgeous. The day of the wedding... it looked completely different. It was missing all the extra flowers we paid for and the elaborate set up. After much back and forth calling between my husband and Pedestals, they sent us a small refund, not even close to how much we thought they owed us. The only good part was the bouquets. My bouquet was absolutely gorgeous. The girls were happy too.

NY Marriages (Officiant) - A+++++
Keith made our wedding ceremony so relaxing and wonderful. The reason we chose him was his laid back attitude and sense of humor. Throughout the entire ceremony he made us feel relaxed. His romantic vows were perfect for us since we didn't want anything too religious. He also personalized it to who we are which made it even more special.

JPI Video Productions - ?
We are still waiting on our video... will update when it gets here!

Rolling Pin Bakery (Cake) - B
Okay, the cake tasted really good according to the guests, but I thought the sample tasted 10X better. We had vanilla cake with strawberries & custard filling. The appearance of the cake did not match the picture I sent through East Wind to Rolling Pin. It was supposed to be ivory colored and it was bright white. It was also smaller than the picture. The flowers from the florist did not match because of the change in color. Overall they did not follow through with the agreed appearance, so it was a bit disappointing to me.

Desmond's (Brunch & Bar) - A+++
These guys stayed open really late for us after our wedding. We had a great time! Brunch the next day was AMAZING. There was so much food available. My guests were so happy.

Blackwell's (Dinner night before) - B+
The food was pretty good and we were able to rent out a small room in the front for our guests. I had to leave early because I wasn't feeling well. I think there was also an issue with the agreed upon pricing for everyone. Overall, not too impressed, not too disappointed. It was just okay.

Linen Creations, Franklin Sq (tables & chairs) - A+
I thought the tables and chairs looked gorgeous! The colors were perfect for the mood I was trying to set.

Kleinfeld (Wedding Dress) - A+++++++++++++
WOW. My dress still amazes me. Camille was the person helping me the day I went in. I had tried on over 50 dresses at that point. By the 5th dress there, I thought I found my dream dress. But when I walked out, my whole family said 'Yuck!' I was devastated! In came Randy to save the day... he put me in a Pnina Tornai and I was sold! I was so happy with everything, including alterations. They are also cleaning and preserving my dress for me. I love my dress!

I also got my beautiful shoes at Kleinfeld. I had already bought two other pairs, but when I saw these, I knew I couldn't pass them up. They were Grazia shoes and they went perfectly with the dress. So classic and elegant!

Thomas Knoell (Wedding Jewelry & Headpiece) - A++
I love my wedding jewelry. It is all crystal handcrafted by Thomas Knoell. Earrings, bracelet, and headpiece all match perfectly.
